Forum Post: The Majority of These Conversations are Useless Distractions

There are some decent, constructive, relevant discussions going on here... But there is also a ton of wasted time. And I'm not just talking about trolls. And I'm not pointing fingers at anyone's political views, whatever they are. I am saying that all the time and effort spent on all sides arguing things that don't have to do with the one thing we can ALL agree on and how to get it heard and fixed, is a waste. And a distraction that those most responsible for the problem are loving because it's keeping the spotlight off them and their wrongs. Do we want people's focus to be on US and our quibbles, or do we want it to be where it belongs: 99% of us don't want greed run amok.

We all need to remember that we are not running for office. Even those who want to consider that the system's broken and a new one needs to be created in its place... STILL there's the matter of first things first. The first thing is maintaining unity. The only way that happens with such a huge group of people and opinions is to stay focused on the ONE common thing. The burden is on Washington to fix the problem. Even if some feel the whole system should be scrapped, we're not at a point where we can replace it. Any efforts to make change either within or beyond the existing system have to maintain primary awareness on the common problem or this whole thing will fracture and break before it has a chance. There's a time and place for everything. The time is now to shift our focus to spotlighting the core problem, not each other. Let's make it more simple and less complicated. Our basic point is "we the people are not going to accept a corrupt 1% running the show and running off with the loot. Fix it now."

That's a good start! The protestors need to realize that the general public doesn't understand politics very well so too many protestors yelling different demands on too many issues is confusing to the people that are trying to figure them out.
