They are trying to say that the OWS (god bless you, true patriots of our generation) is costing the city money. Well, as a tax paying citizen I would rather my tax dollars be spent protecting the 1st amendment than destroying it, or in the pursuit of economic justice rather than the pursuit of corporate monopoly greed.
What is costing money, is the massive police oppression and violence. OWS did not cause that, the powers-that-be did with their excessive overwrought police response. They could have just send 10 uniforms down to the park and patrolled arresting those causing problems, however they choose to oppress all decent to the system of wealth movement from the many to the few.
the city spent its money to obstruct and deny the people its rights- they shouldn't have spent the money, we didn't make them do it.
I say we are just recouping our investment from the bailouts. We should be allowed to occupy until we have bled the city resources to the tune of billions. Keep fighting brothers and sisters. www.thrivemovement.com
Could embarass them by offering to volunteer for the city until x amount of dollars have been saved. That would put a little piss in their cheerios.
This is one way of generating pressure, exerting influence, and demonstrating power.
Power must be used wisely.

Wars cost money but they love to spend tax dollars on that, oh and how much money did they give to the banks.
This is a double edged sword, on one hand the cities sending police in riot gear to a peaceful protest is a waste of tax payer dollars and opens the door for violence. However, as evidenced in Kansas City, if they don't send in the troops no one else really pays attention to them. So having these city officials show their true colors is actually a positive for the movement.
yes, and the plight of not having enough money for enforcers reveals the weakness. Trying to defend the indefensible, there isn't enough police in the world to stop 99%. Or put another way, how can tax money be in short supply when everyone has good paying jobs, are in good health, and well educated???
They could save some money if they tell the cops to quit wasting expensive military grade pepper-spray on people sitting down.
It is not that it is costing money, but what is costing the money... can't we all pick up after ourselves, or are we content to live like freaking slobs?
They are claiming the extra expense is in officer overtime not park clean up.
