Forum Post: The image of women presented by the media both demeans and disempowers them

Who are the women held up by the media as role models for young women today . . . Paris Hilton, Madonna, Julia Roberts etc., etc., all vacuous, mindless, mannequins whose deification encourages young women to become vacuous, mindless sex objects, and as a result young men seek out women who have acquiessed to become soulless, mindless, mannequins.

There are so many examples of really courageous and dignified women of soul in the world that this obsessive media focus on fashion, beauty, and soullessness can be seen clearly in it's stark and evil intent.

Conversely, men have been trained to fantasize about being "freedom-fighting" heros, who fight some ill-defined evil, with a vacuous woman at their side. And as these young men wallow in their force-fed fantasy, the reality of their lives decends, and of the women in their generation decend into a live of demeaning subserviance and squalor, and the ever gaping maelstrom of defeat.

These fantasies are created to make us live vicariously - lives that aren't authentically our own - and courage is what it takes to live an authentic life, the courage of resistance to the forces that suppress us.

So it is up to the young to shake their compatriots out of their chained lives of fantasy, into the light of open-day, and to throw off the shackles of a demeaning, and oppressive nether-existance.

Spring has come, the human uprising. If you don't get up and roll out into the streets you will have your whole lives left to regret it.

Kinda makes you wonder what the last 50 years of feminism was for.

The powerful can twist ANYTHING to their own ends, if we don't ALL resist.

""NATO is staging "Massacre of Christians in Syria by Muslims", by bringing Al Qaida and other radical Islamists to Syria, in order to initiate a war, where they can nuke Iran, give a lesson to rising China, control Middle East oil resources, and allow some people to print as much money as they wish by using petrodollars, so they can control the society and the world through their wealth and power. This will also allow capitalism to continue by breaking the Eastern and the Socialist spirituality which is growing around the world and which is the biggest threat to capitalist ruling elite. ""

Something like this may very well be their plan, yes. I'm not privy to the details, but no doubt hegemony is the goal here. War with Iran must be opposed as strongly as possible.

Pope is distracting Christians when Syrian Christians are facing ethnic cleansing and possible massacre. Check this L.A. times-Vatican Resource. Why Pope ignores Syria and preach about evils of socialism and communism? http://www.fides.org/aree/news/newsdet.php?idnews=31228&lan=eng

Kinda seems like you sidetracked the whole point of this post though, which had nothing to do with Christians or Syria.
