Proposal before the Committee: A game of Cards

I would like to propose a game. A card game. We will call it . . .

The Galted Repelican.

We begin with a deck of cards, presumably 52 but not necessarily 52, since the suit of Hearts will be absent - repelicans are after all, utterly heartless. Embossed upon the deck will be the faces of prominent repelicans.

Aye sayz the sharp ol' timer in the last row who sees exactly where we are going with this . . . card deck extravaganza . . .

4 spades

I would suggest the Koch brothers as the Queen of Clubs, depicted as a two headed queen or using two suits of clubs to make up for the absent suit of hearts.

And that Grover Norquist whose name is absent from the ranks at the Vile Plutocrat - perhaps the Jack of Spades for that vile knave . . .

The essence of the game is of course the production of accidents with reward according to card rank, ambiguity and success of design. I mean, after all,

why not?

When a railroad can experience two accidents in less than 48 hours at the same time it is engaged in negotiating an expanded corridor in the heart of Washington DC

  1. Lynchburg

  2. Bowie . . .

  3. Earlier pair of incidents

Why Not I say! Besides . . . !

Everybody's Doing It!

All that is required for this game is the ability to engage in rumor and wild speculation - principle skills among the far right crowd. That and even a single accident will inevitably produce such a frenzy of fevered speculation that the whole world will know and come to appreciate this uniquely American pass time.

The Galted Repelican

Any number can play.

Ok, so lets just be serious for one little sec. Kay?

Coincidence of this nature - where two train accidents occur on the cusp of negotiations over expanding its corridor hauling highly flammable bakken shale crude through the nation's capital - just seems so extraordinarily far fetched - it must simply be cast aside as utterly laughable.

If it is not coincidence then we must conclude that this is in fact how some unidentified portion of the . . . .social structure . . . responds to corporate intrusions that are deemed unacceptable. We saw something similar resulting in pressure on the air line industry to change security procedures. Yet even then, they did indeed resist. Death was once a common occurrence at dangerous intersections and a mandatory necessity before funds could be secured to engineer change.

After the Lac-Megantic explosion that destroyed nearly half of the town and claimed 47 lives we must presume that the management at CSX - unless they are utterly and completely incompetent - would expect to be rebuffed in any effort to expand their corridor within the nation's capital.

If they understand the frailty of the government when confronted with inducements to corruption from the private sector then we must presume they are well aware of the form and nature such a rebuff must take, as well as some understanding of the extent of infrastructure that could be lost with such an effort.

We must therefore presume that for those calling the shots the railroad itself is a secondary consideration and little more than a means to an end. And we must presume that end is pipeline expansion, like the KXL.

.

What we require is leverage, along with the proper place to apply it of course. Either that, or an airtight argument explicating all of the various corporate sins and the adverse effects they have and have had on this nation and its people.

IF we can do that, then we can pull up our lawn chairs, and enjoy the fireworks.

Fukin repelicans will be dropping like flies.

.

And that's what I call

  • The Galted Repelican.

(Edit)

Hhmmmmmmmmmm - could it also have anything to do with wanting to expand tar-sands pipelines????????????????

Duhn duhn duhnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Edit -> KXL hoping = Done done Doneeeeeeeeeeeeeee

[-] -3 points by ZenDog (13204) from South Burlington, VT 2 months ago

In the end that is exactly what I think it is about.

It is purely speculation on my part, but once you discount coincidence of this nature, that seems to be all that remains.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (35002) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 months ago

Kind of makes sense as that is what is going on. No nasty train oil accidents for years - and then - whamo - a series of train oil "accidents" - huh what to do - what to do - cry for safe pipelines? - the fuckers!!!

[-] -1 points by ZenDog (13204) from South Burlington, VT 2 months ago

increasing production necessarily increases risk. What that means is an increase in . . . lobbying opportunities . . .

I'm pretty sure I saw something after the Lac-Megantic explosion indicating the rail lines weren't up to the regulatory standard with their oil tankers - they are supposed to be beefier than they are. Not certain that means double hulled, but it probably does.

And they have no plans on increasing their inventory of up to date tankers. It just wouldn't make any sense, not with a pipe line on the way.

.

Ultimately the only solution is to shut down tar sands production. That is the only viable means of ending this debate in the publics favor.

[-] 3 points by DKAtoday (35002) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 months ago

Yep - kick all fossil fuel to the curb once and for all - but tar sands immediately if not sooner. No matter how much it is denied - There Are Viable Alternatives to fossil fuel - Available Now.

the transition wouldn't be easy - especially with transportation. The infrastructure for example - an awful lot of gas stations to be replaced with something else.

It won't be easy moving those obstinate fukers who insist we do nothing of the sort.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (35002) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 months ago

Remember the saving of the auto industry? The old car buyout? To get new cars sold? Personally I think it could have been done better. What if ( I know I Know "naysayers" - too expensive - well what cost to go on as we are? ) we were to go on a full scale program of refitting older cars as well as upgrading the new cars coming off the assembly lines. Stop throwing away ( disposable society ) and start a refit industry to instal new tech into old cars/trucks/buses etc etc. People are looking for good employment - lets really put standardization to work = standardized drive train configurations for plug and play versatility. Want all wheel drive with 50 plus miles per gallon or an electric motor? See your local credit union and get a federally financed low interest low payment purpose tied loan to upgrade your vehicle to the latest and greatest tech - so what if you will never be able to afford that brand new vehicle - millions never will be able to afford them - we could still upgrade for the same cost of buying a used vehicle - Hey?

Those obstinate assholes need to be beaten - severely.

It's an interesting idea

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (35002) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 months ago

So doable - the mating of engines to transmissions is a very basic piece of engineering as is mating the engines and transmissions to motor mounts and drive shafts. The controls the controls some have cried. To simple I say - it is all computer ( chip ) control - easy peasy - pop in the new control chip and good to go.

But we can still have our deck of cards!

It'll be fun!

  • Look at that repelican . . . ain't he a card . . .

and as long as repelican accidents are on the agenda, who knows what kind of creativity might be permitted!

.

My COD ( oops - GOD ) - how can anyone support the assholes in office who R claiming 2 B republican ????????????

I just really like the idea of watching one of them goddamned global warming denialists look over their shoulder in passing as someone says lets play cards -

and watch the little rodents scurry

These are the same fukers that don't care if mining regulations get watered down and ignored, mining regulators underfunded, and miners killed in the process.

fukin scumbags.

I don't know why it seems so difficult for most people to grasp, but once the repelicans are gone it should be fairly easy to bend the dems to some common sense.

We must get the money out

and provide for utter transparency with regard to bill passage

restore regulation of the banks and the media

that will not solve everything, but it should position us where solutions can continue to come forth.

Unlike now, where primarily what we have is a continual erosion.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (35002) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 months ago

IDK - I mean look at all of the crap going on - from wallstreet to fracking to oil wars to poison crops and on and on and on. Some populations have woken-up ( kinda ) to protesting corrupt government - some even mentioning the wealthy living dead corp(se)oRATions and indivduals that are buying it. But where is everyone else?

[-] -1 points by ZenDog (13204) from South Burlington, VT 2 months ago

A lot of people are either working or they are looking for work and just don't have time to stand on a street corner holding signs.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (35002) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 months ago

This I think is the Heart of the attacks on an open internet. To put down a new form ( media ) for public organizing and open protest.

the Galted Repelican

It would make a fine pub, don't you think? We could plant microphones at each of the tables throughout, and conduct intensive surveillance of that upper crust of repelicanism who would remain completely oblivious to the fact that the name itself is a slap, rather than some positive cultural reference to utter selfishness and greed . . .

the Galted Repelican

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (35002) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 months ago

(EDIT)

I dun-know - I mean - wouldn't such a pub - perhaps - have baby skin rugs? Not really a place for someone with a soul to go to - hey?

Edit -> Chaney B a regular? or the owner?

[-] -1 points by ZenDog (13204) from South Burlington, VT 2 months ago

. . . chaney b . . . I'm not familiar with the reference.

now that is just fuked up. when a deleted and a removed comment can take precedent over posted comments just because shady shadz and his stinky side kick flipper are bent on a down voting riot - deleted comments float to the top. that is so fuked up.

It really is tempting to sign up a bunch of socks of my own - but honestly, none of you fukers are worth it.

Perhaps I should rush out this second and purchase the domain name:

  • The Galted Repelican

so that visitors may purchase their own deck, have a brief overview of the prevalent rumors, engage in relevant discussion and even view the most recent photographs in typically lurid and salacious yellow media fashion.
