missing a finger? own a gun? have food for more than 7 days? you are a terrorist suspect and could be locked up forever. senate floor video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJAMXXbiskY&feature=player_embedded The senate voted against changing an amendment that was buried in a spending bill that gives the government to ability to detain indefinantly any american suspected of terrorism without trial or charges. This is the pettition I signed. here are the links to the petition and to the gov site listing the voters and thier votes.

Also as I posted in another thread, Section 1031(d):

"Construction- Nothing in this section is intended to limit or expand the authority of the President or the scope of the Authorization for Use of Military Force."

Authorization for Use of Military Force [Public Law 107-40]:

"Whereas, the President has authority under the Constitution to take action to deter and prevent acts of international terrorism against the United States"

Bill of Rights still applies.

Regardless of the language actually being right there in the bill, you can't just override the Constitution without following the proper procedure. :p

The Constitution is pretty clear on the matter. Precisely, it states in Article 1 Section 9 "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it."

So its already in the constitution that they can suspend habeus corpus and why.
