“President Obama’s game is to move inexorably into Republican territory, putting his own brand on austerity, militarism and the growing police state.”

A Black Agenda Radio commentary by Glen Ford

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi has withdrawn her objections to the Simpson-Bowles austerity budget – which is, in reality, President Obama’s plan. “The way is clear for the Democrats to move another step to the right and embrace Simpson-Bowles $4 trillion in spending cuts that will eviscerate what’s left of the social safety net.”…

Obama was striving for a $ 4 trillion grand bargain with Boner some time ago. He wants to dress up the austerity against the 99 percent with a modest tax increase - a return to the Clinton tax rates- for the top two percent. This the Republicans are fighting tooth and nail. Also no one is talking about defending the Earned Income Credit. They seem to agree that poor people aren't paying enough income taxes, though I haven't heard Obama actually say so. They killed the "making work pay" tax credit for low wage workers and not only was there no funeral, you could scrub the MSM for even a death notice- hardly a peep.

For me my opposition to Romney and the GOP is about other things - I don't expect and won't tell anyone else to expect Obama not to implement a cruel austerity. It's about their more strident war drive, their racialist anti Black dog whistles, their anti gay and anti woman stands.

I drive taxi and scan the radio all night. Last night I caught an add for "Pink Slip Obama" that ended with an ominous "our founding fathers would be shooting already." http://pinkslipobama.net/bumper%20sticker%20pay%20for%20ammo.jpg

Lines have been drawn for this election. It's pretty clear.

No one is talking about a minimum wage increase like the recently proposed "Catching Up to 1968 Act of 2012" either

Lines have been paid for in this election. It's very clear. Over a billion dollars spent.
