Not that the republican party has any very strong candidates. Its just that as gas prices rise Obamas poll ratings will go down. The American people will not tolerate 5$ gas prices this summer and even though I do not want another Republican back in office the Obama administration has very poorly planned any kind of energy solutions.Unfortunately it looks like well have to deal with another republican back in office.

the current Republican's on the ticket/s are idiots ... nothing to worry about...

the only one that speaks any truth was Buddy Roemer ... and they forced him out of the debates ... hehehe

[-] 2 points by lancealotlink (147) 12 years ago

I agree with you wholeheartedly except that your forgetting the most of the American public are mindless idiots that listen to Limbaugh and Hannity.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

;) nope... the majority of REAL American's get their new's from Jon Stewert, Stephen Cobert & Louis Black... ;)

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

seriously ... check the ratings .... Jon Stewert blows fox news away

[-] -1 points by lancealotlink (147) 12 years ago

your forgetting about the 65 and older crowd who sit on there ass and collect their SS checks and then vote against every one else participating in there little socialist economy and they VOTE 99.9 % of the time.

[-] 4 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

& that's why we need to keep pushing the FACT that the republican's want to get rid of SocSec .. which they do

[-] -2 points by lancealotlink (147) 12 years ago

why should they care if SS is eliminated they'll be dead.

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

nah... it ain't that bad yet

[-] 1 points by lancealotlink (147) 12 years ago

The republican administration want to eliminate SS and medicare but theyll do it by increasing the age so the 65 and older crowd wont be affected but me and you well be working tell were 80 before we can expect and kind of help.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

[-] 0 points by lancealotlink (147) 12 years ago

I really hope you are correct I really do ,but I think your being overly optoumistic just like the Democratic party is.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

[-] 1 points by MaryS (529) 12 years ago

Jon Stewart explains it in this video. It's just that they're "snobs." http://www.hulu.com/watch/333778/the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart-mon-feb-27-2012?c=326%3A0

I don't think the 1%'s ability to manipulate things like gas prices is gonna fool anybody this time around.

[-] 1 points by lancealotlink (147) 12 years ago

I wouldnt be so sure last week Obama holds a 10 point lead in all major polls. This week Romney has a 4 point lead in Gallop and Sanitarium is only two points behind..Of course its very early and anything can happen and repukes always have been able to find a way to shoot themselves in the foot but because of market manipulation wall street has managed to pull the republicans closer then they ever were before.

On the short side the solution would be that every time oil prices go up the Obama administration could announce that were opening up our oil reserves .This would kill the oil speculators who are betting against our recovery.

[-] 1 points by randart (498) 12 years ago

Why are people so stupid to think that one man could change what the price of oil is? If the people of the USA are that dumb then they deserve what they get I guess.

I hold out hope that there are enough people who can still reason enough to know what a government can and can't do.

Personally, I think the oil, water, food supply, and healthy environment should belong to the country and not a corporation.

[-] 1 points by lancealotlink (147) 12 years ago

Every time our economy starts to kick back into gear gas prices zap it back down and you can always count the American public to always make the wrong decisions, but at the same time the Democrats can only blame themselves just like the 5 previous administration they have only offered alot of empty rhetoric with no real solutions.

[-] 1 points by randart (498) 12 years ago

It seems like the Dems have more vision than the "drill baby drill" mentality. I suspect that it is the proverbial "THEM" that are hidden from our eyes that manipulate and speculate on oil that cause the surges in prices. I also suspect these group of THEY are on the conservative side of the political spectrum and that THEY are doing their best to influence the election.

In the end, we need to try and find those old hippy concepts of renewable energy as possibly workable and viable.

[-] 1 points by lancealotlink (147) 12 years ago

yes I hear about alternative energy every time gas prices go up but the rhetoric seems to disappear as gas prices go down.

[-] 1 points by randart (498) 12 years ago

Playing us like puppets aren't they? Nationalize the natural resources would be the first answer to the speculators gaming the system. But THAT wouldn't be America now would it? We have a situation where the insane run the asylum.

[-] 0 points by XenuLives (1645) from Charlotte, NC 12 years ago

We should "out the speculators." Call out the people who are trading up the value of oil everyday. It is those suits on Wall Street that are screwing Average Joe over at the pump, NOT the President or anyone in government that can't jump into the trading action.

I would personally love to see a price cap instituted on oil. $100/barrel, max. Since we are the biggest buyer of oil in the world, we can demand to pay a certain price and force the oil companies to sell to us at that price. They won't risk losing that huge of a chunk of business to wait for China to catch up on demand to pay what they want.

There are a lot of reasons they are in trouble. This, however, is not one of them. It sounds more like an intimidation technique rather than a rallying cry.
