Forum Post: Bush War - The Obama War

I recall watching the lead up to the Iraq war. Troops, planes, tanks, supplies leaving our country day and night. Then bombing day and night. Jets after jet leaving bases dropping bombs. Billion spent each day. You complained about all the money being spent on the Bush war. Then,,, the Bush war as we knew it, ENDED. Very few jets in the air, very few bombs dropped, tanks and troops coming home. So the question is,,,, if you were complaining that all the money spent on war and not on social programs,,,, why are the social programs hurting today when we are NOT spending NEARLY the same amount of the war? Using your complaints about a full blown war being expensive,,, where is the money going on the Obama War? The budge should have been balance today and lowering of the debt. WHERE IS THAT SAME MONEY GOING TODAY??????? Where is the Obama war money going? Something is wrong,, what is it?

Because we didnt pay for they war machine, we bought it on credit, and we are still fighting the war in afghanistan.

The money is owed to Haliburtin and Blackwater, among others.

KBR boeing raytheon hsbc

Wall Street is still making a killing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipM_wRnAzSY

From the video

"War industry CEOs make tens of millions of dollars a year, putting them in the top 0.01 percent of income earners in the U.S.

  • Northrop Grumman CEO Wes Bush made $22.84 million last year.
  • Lockheed Martin CEO Robert Stevens made $21.89 million.
  • Boeing CEO James McNerney: $19.4 million.

These guys use their corporations' massive lobbying dollars to keep their job-killing gravy train rolling. Last year, their companies spent a whopping $46 million on lobbying, corrupting our politics and ensuring that their bank accounts continue to fatten at our expense. These executives are some of the main reasons why we're wasting so much on war instead of rebuilding our own nation here at home."

All of those and many we never heard of, or forgot about, and don't miss Boston Robotics.................:)

All under long term contract.

We pay for all of it, even the lobby's.

Think about all that tech under lock and key. Tech, we (over)paid for.

Tech, when they finally give us access, we will overpay for all over again.

[-] 0 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

And the government continues to pay KBR even though they're known for human trafficking and other human rights abuses.

There's several corporations that have made it into the top 25 war profiteers list that I had never heard of before looking into it years ago.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

How many of those corporations trade shares either public or private?

How many of those corporations buy supplies, material, tech, etc. from other corporations that trade shares either public, or private?

All roads lead to WallStreet.

Oh, I was told the economy went down during Bush. Guess that was wrong since it's not being paid for until Obama. Thanks for the letting me know.

[-] 1 points by Slammersworld (210) 12 years ago

The interesting fact that everyone leaves out about the economy under Bush43 is the fact that from 2004-2007, (from the year following the finalization of the tax reform, until the democrats took over congress, and the checkbook) this nation saw it's largest single period of growth, in it's history..over 8 million more jobs were added, AND...despite the tax cuts and the wars, deficits were trending DOWN, from a high of 595 billion to 500 billion in FY2007....then in FY2008 the deficit was Doubled to a trillion dollars (these are "real dollar" outstanding debt deficits, not the statistical manipulation of "budget" deficit)...congress has more control over deficit spending than does a president....if you don't believe that, look at the marked differences in both the Clinton and Bush administrations when the different parties controlled congress, both presidencies demonstrate the same trends in spending based on the party in control of congress.

And, it's funny how it's the legitimate uses of government, (whether you agree with them or not) that are called "not paid for", what about social entitlement, and social welfare transfer, payments...how are those "paid for" and defense isn't...it's nonsense rhetoric, defense is a constitutionally mandated task of government...paying for the housing and feeding illegitimate children, encouraging the expansion of same, and increasing the standard of living of some, not based on contribution, IS NOT a mandated role of government...

[-] 1 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

Your grandchildren will be paying for that war, and to fix the economy. No one person lies at fault, but we mostly all played a part by allowing it to happen either with our support or through our complacency. And it was not the fault of one party, though it did, in fact happen while bush was in office. Democrats are not insulated from corporate influence, and republicans are not god's chosen representatives on earth.

I know you are baiting, but i felt like responding. Keeps my mind occupied... Ha!

Defeating any politician who signed a pledge to a lobbyist for the 1% would be a great place to start in turning this mess around. They are in both parties.

[-] 1 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

I concur... I think we should put cameras in their offices (like every corporation does to their employees) so we can see who plays host to the lobbyists the most.

[-] 1 points by cmt (1195) from Tolland, CT 12 years ago

There is a record of every senator and representative who have signed this pledge for Grover Norquist, the prime mover for big wealth. That would be a great place to start.

So, apparently you read the transcript that you googled, "December 16, 1998, Clinton, Iraq, Transcript"

[-] 1 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

I have no idea what you are talking about, and i dont use google.

[-] 0 points by sanclitorisCA (31) 12 years ago

Oh, you read it. Where Clinton addressed the nation talking about why he sent bombs in Iraq. Why HE said Iraq owned WMD's and Clinton said they used the WMD's. Where Clinton said it was important to stop Saddam's nuclear and chemical program that was used againsts his own people and others in the area. You know, that speech where the Clinton administration left Bush with documents about the WMD's,,,,,,, THAT speech on Dec 16, 1998.

[-] 1 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

No, but i do recall regan pumping support into iraq so they could defeat iran in the war they had with each other, as well as the whole iran contra drug black money debacle. By the way, daddy bush admitted he knew about the whole thing on live television in 1991. You will not find a record of it anywhere. It was katie couric asking the question of him on the morning show on NBC while on a whitehouse tour with barbara bush for the holiday decorations.

I have the record on Clinton (CNN) and we all have seen the blue dress

[-] 1 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

The blue dress is between him and hilary, far as im concerned. My main problem with clinton was signing bush's nafta. There went american jobs....

[-] 0 points by sanclitorisCA (31) 12 years ago

In most cases I would agree with you. I would have agreed, maybe, had he and Monica did their thing during a private meeting at a banquet in a hotel room. I will never agree when it happened in the most powerful, most respected office in the entire world, the Oval Office.

[-] 1 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

Naive to think it doesnt happen all the time in places that would offend more people than not. Was it right? Not in my opinion... Did it have any effect on my life or well being? No.

[-] 0 points by sanclitorisCA (31) 12 years ago

It did effect our lives. As naive at it sounds, the president proclaimed the use of a new phrase in our society, "it all depends on what the meaning of is, is." Our society changed the moment he said that.

[-] 1 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

Believe what you need-- sex happens and people lie about it. Been going on as long as people have been creating taboos about it. Later.

[-] 1 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

Do you not know the meaning of the word "we"?

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

It's a war of the military industrial complex.

You were warned many years ago.

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

Where is the money going? Ask Beoing, Raytheron, and KBR.

War spending has been up in the years since Bush. It's been on a steady increase since he entered and left office. The wars are not over. Amassing 70,000 troops in the Asia Pacific. Funding war in Mali. Drone wars in Pakistan and Yemen. Surrounding Iran. Still in Afghanistan. Giving billions to other regimes. Troops are replaced with hired mercenaries that cost more. The privatization of the wars under Bush, Obama, and the Congress has been frightening. And Big oil stayed in Iraq.

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

Defense spending is up under this presidency. Afghanistan war had an increase in 2009, it wasn't that long ago it was reduced back to 2009 pre-surge levels, still 60 to 70 thousands troops there. Still bombing countries all the time. Currently preparing for an attack against Iran as a "just in-case" mobilizing warships in the oceans.

Have you read the new NDAA?

The wars are not over. Gov still has troops in Afghanistan.

And of course don't forget about the privatized aspect hiring hundreds of thousands of mercenaries and filling other positions in many countries.

Obama supported the bail outs, the wars, increased our troops in afganistan to 100,000 more than bush ever had. He has killed 3 United States citizens without trial or due process. He was given more money by wallstreet in 2008 than any other candidate.

[-] 1 points by sanclitorisCA (31) 12 years ago

So true. Gitmo is still open. Re-signed the Patriot Act.

[-] 1 points by seeker (242) 12 years ago

Obama massivley increased troops in Afganistan and they are as active now as they ever were..Its a big place. Libya only cost a billion which probarbly pales insignificance compered to what halliburton and other war profiteering corporations that obama represents have made in afaganistan..

Oh and if there is any change it could be going on homeland security and riot gear.

[-] 0 points by sanclitorisCA (31) 12 years ago

I could have sworn that Obama said THE most important thing is to catch Bin Laudin. Mission accomplished,,, everyone came home?

[-] 0 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

If the amount of overall bombs decreases, but the reach of the remaining increases, is it really progress?....

In my opinion....No.

OBAMA is the enemy of OWS, OBAMA's is the exec, he controls the FBI & HOMELAND SECURITY, yet he is using his power to torture OWS children in the streets, and the OWS continue to remain silent. When will the OWS condemn DEM & PUG partys?

A better question is "WHEN WILL OWS CONDEMN THE OCCUPATION OF PALESTINE", as you know on virtually all matters that MATTER, OWS is silent.

They're SILENT on OBAMA, and they're SILENT on ISRAEL, the 2nd biggest killer after the USA.
