The USA is about 5% of world population (312mm out of 6b) and we have 40% of the wealth. So hard to feel sympathetic with the worlds 1%. Please visit the world's true 99% before you speak

I don't recall anyone ever mentioning that this movement is only "The 99% of the USA"

And this is the reason why Americans really shouldn't take their responsabilities and everyone would be much happier if they just stopped trying to make their society fairer and their democracy healthier. Cause that's the last thing the world needs.

Wait, what?

LOL 40% of the wealth huh? Guess where 39% of it is?

We may have our computers, cars, and cameras, but you know what? Things can always get worse. And they are. See how close we came to losing our social security? Money that was supposedly in a LOCK-BOX? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that this country is going down (read, not quite yet) the shitter. So how about you get your head out of your ass and say something before it's too late?

Things can get ALOT worse! Ask pre revolution Cuba or Spain! The country is on the wrong path IMO. Banks and people need consequences to their actions....and you?

And me... what?

[-] 1 points by Greentara (205) 1 year ago

What would you do to change our country?

[-] 1 points by Sample246 (43) from Pell City, AL 1 year ago

Well I'm one of the people who isn't well educated in politics and how to fix our problems, but you don't have to be to see all the corruption. I'm here to back the movement, not shape it.

The worlds 99% is not part of this country and does not participate in our government. So I fail to see what they have to do with the issues in our country.

[-] 1 points by Greentara (205) 1 year ago

My point is that most of the 99% are "ok". No military police beating the protesters by hired thugs a la Egypt, no 50% unemployment like palestine ect..."we" could be seen by the world as entitied crybabies

Well, then that would be unfortunate. But I will not give up my fight for my equal representation in my government because someone on the other side of the world may get an inaccurate impression.

Good point

you are correct that even the lower middle class in this country has much wealth compared to egypt (or most of the worlds population) but i am sure they support the movement here - they are not asking us to give up our wealth - the want us to tell our government to get it's boot off their neck! read what marx said about the british empire in india - who benefited and who paid the cost of empire - same applies today to this country

This issue has not been raised on this board and might be the biggest risk to OWS

This is a very good point and I posted about it in "Some hard facts."
