A message to our liaisons with the local General Assemblies.

We would like to see all of the GA's from all over the United States run candidates for delegate to the National General Assembly in July. We would also like to create a master list of grievances and solutions taken from all the GA's and various "Demands Groups" and then give that list to the elected delegates to vote on between the March election and June.

The 876 elected delegates would then ratify and sign a final list of grievances and solutions to be included in a final Petition for a Redress of Grievances at the National General Assembly the week of July 4th.

Right now we are calling the document produced by the National General Assembly a "Petition for a Redress of Grievances" because that is the legal document recognized and authorized by the Constitution. In our view, therefore, such a petition submitted by 876 elected delegates, cannot simply be ignored by the government once it is properly served between July and November 2012. Of course if the government ignores it, there will be consequences as spelled out in Clause V of the 99% Declaration.

Also, as the winter goes on and it becomes more difficult to occupy some cities, our election efforts and plans for a NGA in July will keep the 99% Movement in the news (we hope). The cities are really clamping down on the occupiers who are running out of legal options and we are concerned the movement will lose steam over the winter and be forgotten.

We are now within $1,000 of our first fund raising target to put a downpayment on the venue. We could really use help from #OWS to pay for the venue in Philadelphia and costs of the nationwide election. All of the funds we have raised so far are being held in escrow by our attorneys and nothing will be spent without full disclosure. The only money that has been spent to date came from two anonymous donors who directly paid for the production of the commercial including the licensing of the music and air time.

When you a liaising with your local GA's I think the most important point to make to #OWS is that we are JUST providing for the transparent election and venue. We take no position on what should be in the final petition and what the elected delegates choose to do in Philadelphia that week in July is totally up to them. We are only facilitating for the delegates. The about page on our webpage may also be of some help because it talks about the plans for our upcoming candidate and voting webpage in more detail:

We are also inviting a list of prominent speakers and plan to run workshops that week on running independent candidates for congress.

Please email me with any questions at mspollok@gmail.com.

All the best,

Does this mean congressional districts without a GA need to be set up? And what if one district has more than one GA? Should I be using the term District General Assembly (DGA)?

You know how they'll vote ! I've experienced it first hand ! Petitions have been circulated and not accepted . They come up with rules, ( or make new ones ) ! Properly served is one way they got around it by saying so many days before a vote or so many days before the next vote.

"Of course if the government ignores it, there will be consequences as spelled out in Clause V of the 99% Declaration."

I'll believe it when I see it!

Sorry for being so pessimistic , but as i said I've been through it !
