The generation of Americans who founded the United States and wrote its Constitution feared and despised political parties. "The root idea of Anglo-American political thought concerning parties," Richard Hofstadter writes, "of the founding period, was that parties are evil." Thomas Jefferson denounced party affiliation as "the last degradation of a free and moral agent." Alexander Hamilton claimed that the goal of the Constitution was "to abolish factions, and to unite all parties for the general welfare." George Washington warned in his Farewell Address against "the baneful effects of the Spirit of Party."

The beauty of the 99% Declaration is that the weighty List Of Grievances (weight coming from the # of voters it represents (hint hint people)) is that while it puts the two parties between a rock and a hard place, it does give them one last opportunity to fix it. Maybe that's too generous but should the politicians fail, then truly 99% of Americans will have the evidence they need to follow through on the Declarations resolve:

" BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that IF the PETITION FOR A REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES approved by the 876 Delegates of the NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY in consultation with the NINETY-NINE PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE, is not redressed and acted upon within a reasonable time and to the satisfaction of the Delegates of the NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY, said Delegates shall reconvene to organize a new grassroots campaign to elect independent candidates to Congress who will publicly PLEDGE to redress each and every grievance contained in the ratified PETITION FOR REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES. These independent candidates for the United States House and Senate will seek election in every available Congressional seat in the mid-term election of 2014 and again in 2016 and again in 2018 until all vestiges of the existing corrupt corporate state have been eradicated through the power of the ballot box and the empowerment of the 99%."

A one party dictatorship, or 2 party with same goal pointing to top - it is the same, in our country it is simply window dressing now...You must not remain loyal to one party, you are an independent nation within, as we all are - we must abandon the parties as they both have sold their followers out. I will not vote again until there is a party that can disrupt the status quo - unfortunately , it steals votes from one side or another, and one side (blue force or red force) always prevail. Yep the education system keeps revising textbooks and incrementally corralling the sheeple into belief systems. Good thing I had independent Civics and History instructors, they were passionate and not biased to a party. They always reminded us of our power to not follow the pied piper. Once the masses follow blindly, which they do now - we are headed for doom. They reminded us to continue exercising our rights so those that take them for granted to not let go of where we came from. Unfortunately, many have played into their hands and pockets. They vote based on party allegiance and not with what matters. The manufactured issues keep us divided, and the media does a good job at making matters worse. Use your heart & mind, research from all angles, consider all factors before exercising your voting rights. I
