please share any thoughts and details on the matter that you would like. it is my belief that in addition to the traditional 3 branches of government we must add a technocratic branch and a direct democratic branch as well as a reinforced social safety net and making healthcare and education 100% free. it is absolutely essential to solving the crisis's we will face moving forward as a nation.
All one needs to do is study the Spanish Civil War. All the answers you need are there.
Expanding free education from 12th grade is critical and inevitable.
I submit adding a month to every school year, Adding internet schooling and starting college level courses by 11th grade.
Grades 13 & 14. should result in the bachelors Degree, and masters degrees should be squeezed into 12 months. Education must evolve and with the internet this is easily possible.
yes education needs a complete overhaul. one of the key problems is def summer break. i have always believed that eliminating summer vacation was a good idea. instead of a summer break i think 10 weeks on 2 weeks off is a good idea. it also allows for those students who fall behind to make up the work in special classes conducted over the 2 weeks vacations. it will keep the students fresher and the instructors as well.
While struggling students get more personal attention to get past their stumbling blocks - teachers can also be taking part in personal growth/further education for themselves ( at the same time and place ) to keep pace with change.
In addition, if we study concepts like the on-line Kahn Academy we will see a new way to educate. People will learn on their own more often, utilize teachers more efficiently, and more personally.
This can be done, but will take great effort.
Making education free isnt going to improve out education. It would eliminate some student loan debt, but its not going to help the underlying problem that our culture simply doesnt value education.
