Its pretty clear that 'occupy' has a bad image in the eyes of many. I don't doubt that some of these photos are not from actual occupy sites (the guy taking a crap on the flag perhaps), but I also don't doubt that these kind of actions really do take place at some occupy sites. And at the end of the day, this imagery turns a lot of folks off.

That says a lot but I suppose the anarchists bring the most negative attention the OWS folks.

[-] 1 points by invient (360) 12 years ago

The picture of the guy defecating on the flag, is actually from a 2008 or 2009 protest. The picture can be found on blogs dating back to those years. Ill provide a link if you wish.

What these pictures do not show: the Tea Party people come, walk about with their signs of hate, listen to a corporate owned candidate, and leave. The OWS people come, set up camp, deal with police, despise corporate media, and speak of a system that is corrupt to the core and that was originally created for & by the people. First I thought tea party people are dumb but now they look smarter.

The so called Tea Party is the Re-branding of the Religious Right...........It is documented in this book......AMERICAN GRACE WINS BEST POLITICAL SCIENCE BOOK OF 2010-2011.

Robert D. Putnam (Harvard) and David E. Campbell (Univ. of Notre Dame) have been awarded the Woodrow Wilson Foundation Award for American Grace: How Religion Divides and Unites Us (Simon and Schuster). The Wilson Award of the American Political Science Assocation (APSA) recognizes the "best book published in the U.S. during the previous calendar year on government, politics, or international affairs".

It would be refreshing if someone took the helm at the OWS movement and acted as a spokesperson. If all these slurs against the movement are false, then respond to them rationally and clean up your act if necessary. Figure out, then articulate publicly what the movements goals are. If you don't distance yourself from some of the most extreme points of view, such as outright socialism - eventually the potential to achieve any change at all will be sacrificed. American's believe in work ethic and if you keep making demands perceived as "FREE" education, health care, housing, without working for it (simply because the economy has gone sour), OWS will be dismissed by the American public as a radical fringe group of disenchanted hipsters. I mean, just look how many computers your people have set up down on Wall Street - that is not true poverty. What would our grandparents in the great depression have thought of this approach?

The Tea Party was a lose group of bandits coopted early on by Koch Brother think tanks. They had ready-made rules and leaders and stances that they really couldn't get away from once they became an AstroTurf movement. You cannot compare OWS and the Tea Party for organization. The Tea Party had millions rolling in from those Koch groups and media coverage and everything set, including an agenda, from the outset.

What we have is millions of Americans on our side.

OWS is supported by corrupt Union Leaders (Not union members) and rich democrats which want to steer 2012 elections to win the president election and house back which tea party steered to Republicans. I supported OWS in the beginning as an Independent but now OWS is turning as disgrace to America.

[-] 1 points by JoeSteel (58) 12 years ago

Do you have any evidence to support your claims?

[-] -1 points by RexDiamond (585) from Idabel, OK 12 years ago

Yet the Tea Party seems to be able to keep their pants on, knows where the bathroom is and refrains from using children as tools by not putting them in extremely dangerous situations.

It's not hard to see why these people have failed in their lives.

[-] 1 points by JoeSteel (58) 12 years ago

The Tea Party brought weapons to their rallies and advocated dismantling the federal government as defined by their very narrow view of the Constitution but cops didn't show up to herd them and pepper spray them.

Most occupiers are keeping their pants on, know where the bathrooms are located, and do not see a non-violent protest (for the largely-most part) as an extremely dangerous situation.

Are you allowing me to group all Tea Party members with groups that support the Tea Party, like the KKK? Are you saying that I may judge all members by the ones who carried signs comparing our duly elected president to Hitler or Bin Laden or some old Sambo stereotype?

[-] 1 points by Redmist (212) from Yazd, Yazd 12 years ago

Firearms are LEGAL dickhead.

[-] 1 points by JoeSteel (58) 12 years ago

What do you think would happen if Occupiers showed up armed to a protest? They're beaten and sprayed and knocked around and harassed for simply assembling and protesting as is their Constitutional right. How do you honestly think NYPD would react if Occupiers showed up strapped, dickhead?

[-] 1 points by Redmist (212) from Yazd, Yazd 12 years ago

Nothing happened to the Tea Party people, I wonder why eh? I suppose it is a matter of trust. Law Enforcement lacks a fundamental trust of you!

[-] 1 points by JoeSteel (58) 12 years ago

And how does "trust" triumph over the Constitution?

[-] 0 points by l31sh0p (279) from Sand Fork, WV 12 years ago

Actually the Neo-Nazi Party is affiliated with Occupy.

[-] 0 points by mediaauditr (-88) 12 years ago

The Tea Party rallies did not advocate dismantling the federal government! What are you talking about? They want fiscal responsibility. There were 0 arrests, 0 graffitti, 0 trash, 0 damage. Not becuz of police, becuz the people respected their surroundings. And did not allow troublemakers in the party.

[-] 1 points by JoeSteel (58) 12 years ago

Becuz they gathered hundreds of people together, not tens of thousands.

[-] 0 points by mediaauditr (-88) 12 years ago

September 12, 2009 Tea Party rally in Washington, D.C., which turned out only an estimated 60,000-70,000. No trash or vandalism.

[-] 0 points by mediaauditr (-88) 12 years ago

hundreds? Google Image ' tea party rally '

Many of the tea party rally's are much larger than many OWS rally's.

10,000's of people, many times. They just aren't mobilized anymore, because they will mobilize at the voting booth in November 2012, which is what Obama is hoping OWS will do for him in 2012.

[-] 1 points by JoeSteel (58) 12 years ago

They're not mobilized because the Koch Brothers aren't organizing protests for those people, busing them into town and picking up the trash afterwards. And why would they? They're getting exactly what they want from Washington D.C. Obstructivism. They bought those Teapublican candidates and sold them to you. They're done with you, other than your being a wage slave and clinging to that narrow, John Birch political focus,

I mean, I oppose firearm restrictions, to a point. I'm about in line with Reagan on gun rights. But I'm a big government liberal. Way more progressive than your typical Democrat. I believe in high taxing for those doing very well for themselves and a ton of research and spending on things like education, protection, and health care. I can't follow in lock step anyone else's political agenda,

[-] 1 points by laffingrass (362) from Normal, IL 12 years ago

Well, we can dismiss that as the first picture already presents a lie.

That squad car is from Brooklyn, not Manhattan.

Besides, the two sides' ideas fit together perfectly.

Occupy Wall Street backs voter registration & voting

The Tea Party only want their people to be allowed to vote.

The Tea Party never do voter registration.

They never face up that big-time criminals can use capitalism any time the authorities look the other way. It's just like the ENRON debacle. Crime is what caused the Depression of 2008.

We know it, the Tea Party is in denial.

[-] 0 points by RexDiamond (585) from Idabel, OK 12 years ago

I know some other people that are in denial.

Great post. These OWS GenerationMe'ers are completely clueless.

[-] 2 points by DrRevolt (1) 12 years ago

They call the World War 2 generation the "greatest generation". Now history is showing that generation as the most privileged time to exist on the planet in any other time in history. An amazing well funded school system that was affordable, safe guards (regulations) kept the financial sector on a level playing field, energy was plentiful and cheep, manufacturing was booming and jobs grew. The dollar was powerful and was worth a dollar. This generation that you spit on as it tries to change its world are immune to your consultation; their quite aware of what their going through...ch ch ch ch ch changes.
