It is time for OWS to Occupy all of the Churches. The take property from the tax roles. They use trillions of dollars in wealth without paying any Taxes at all - just like GE an dother mega-corporations. It is tim they paid their fair share. Occupy the Churches until Congress adn the White House provide tax legislation to returnthe government's money so the burden can be lessened on the 99% and the hidden wealth of the Churches taken by taxes. The government knows how to speend that money more wisely and more compassionately. Tax and seize the hidden trillions for the poor.

There is a reason we don't tax churches. Those who are taxed, in one way or another have a say in the government. Its a separation of church and state issue. We aren't a Christian government, so we don't have churches pay taxes. And that is how it should be.

If the government stops giving tax breaks to churches and religious non-profits, our job is still going to be the same.

Personally, I don't WANT the tax breaks to go away for churches, but I'm not going to throw a temper tantrum and take my toys and go home if it does.

The way I look at it is this way. We are heading towards an economic collapse--all signs points to this. The churches have for many years helped out the communities around them. Just look at how many churches feed the poor and the homeless. Look at all the soup kitchens and church food pantries that are heavily relied on.

However you feel about churches (and there are bad ones out there) you need to take this into consideration. If (actually it is more a question of when) there is an economic collapse many people will be turning to them for help. Do we really want them to lose their non for profit tax status?

In regards to those churches (mega churches) where the leaders are living very over the top lifestyles--they should be investigated. I know that the IRS has begun this, and I say they should further continue with this. Those guys need to be called out for the way they abuse the money that is given to the church. Not your average church out there.

Yeah seriously...what does God need money for anyways? Last I heard he can pretty much do anything. I see a lot of churches and charities posing as humanitarians when alls they are is another trickle-down economy.
