Forum Post: Tax Breaks for the Super Wealthy

Maybe the wealthy should be allowed to earn up to 2 million, both private and corporate, and if they want any breaks beyond that amount they have to provide employment for one person for every 100 thousand in income beyond the initial 2 million. If they can't accept this option then they should be taxed at 90 percent on any income over that amount.

I just want to know how much is enough for these folks. How much money do they need?

If you have ever taken an economics course you would discover that the higher marginal tax rates discourage worker productivity, increase tax avoidance, and decreases economic stimulation (people tend to hang on to their money when heavily taxed rather then spend it). Key examples of how this has worked was the 1920's and 1960's. Higher taxes do not necessarily mean the country will become rich overnight.

If you believe that we should allow companies like BOA to make thirty billion a quarter while raising their rates to use their services then you need to reconsider what is really going on. Native Americans used to think of seven generations into the future before they acted on some of the things they did. How far into the future do those who are in the top 10 percent think as they make decisions?

I am responding to hchc: I am poor, below the poverty line by a long shot. I do not think the people in Africa are a good measure since they have been undoer this type of rule for centuries. If you wish to find think I should be glad for the fact that I am poor then you should really reconsider your own thought processes.

Good response to "hchc"! Perhaps he's never heard of "compassion"?

Your envy is really unbecoming. If you can't have what they have then just don't allow them to have it. It's all a zero sum game with you people.

I have no envy of the wealthy just distain for the system of inequality that lets some reap more than they could ever use or need in a society, a world, that belongs to all life, not just the few.

Whats fair is fair. You probably have way too much, in the eyes of most in Africa, right?

I just watched the film you linked to. If only we can make people see before it is simply too late.
