OWS needs to take a lesson from India and rally behind a leader whose ethics cannot be questioned. Can I say Elizabeth Warren without being censored?

The Indian movement had millions backing. It was so successful that government of India had to listen and took action against corruption.

What we learn.

A. We need a leader. They had guy named hazare. He directly talked with prime minister with backing of million. The crowd behind him put OWS to shame..

B. They went directly to government and no lobbyist and got whatever they want to get done. They had one demand end corruption.

Indians are smart. I love these guys in US. I love their accent.

The thing is that it was partly a cultural thing. Not only was he a kind of cultural hero but the tactic of starving himself was used to evoke shame. It's seems like our politicians have little of that. Maybe the right idea is sufficient as long as millions are pushing for it.

+1 Elizabeth Warren.

My ethics are higher!

[-] 2 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Then why are you using a sobriquet?

[-] 1 points by JamesS89118 (646) from Las Vegas, NV 13 years ago

sobriquet? Dang, that's a new word to me! Many thanks! Cheers!

I do not trust certain factions in the movement to remain non-violent and I do not want my family to pay for their mistakes. I have been struggling with this. There are certain organizations within the government that will not hesitate to commit murder if it suits their ends. My ultimate intention is to put the crooks in jail and see a positive change in this nation and the world - a renewed sense of community etc.. With intentions and ideals that great one MUST be careful. In addition, I am highly intelligent and an asset to the movement. It is a simple strategy to preserve my usefulness.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Maybe...but it all sounds a bit egomaniacal.

[-] 1 points by SirPoeticJustice (628) from New York, NY 13 years ago

What position or title do you hold in the group? Where did your alias come from? Are you a good friend to your friends?

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Haha. I don't make any claims to titles. I have few friends but that just makes us all closer. My alias is from a movie. I don't even remember it's name. And I hit my boyfriend a lot so he likes calling me that.

[-] 1 points by SirPoeticJustice (628) from New York, NY 13 years ago

I knew it would sound that way to you. sorry I am only telling the truth as I know it to be. I am not infallible by any means and readily admit when I am wrong.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

"My ethics are higher!" That just sounds egomaniacal. But let's say it was true. Are you a charismatic leader? How have you tried to address the crimes of the One-percent?

[-] 1 points by ramous (765) from Wabash, IN 13 years ago

which one of us going to set himself on fire?

[-] 1 points by daverao (124) 13 years ago

I heard cops beat the crap out of you and there is no ACLU to defend.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Isn't that Tunisia?

[-] 1 points by ramous (765) from Wabash, IN 13 years ago

currently, but protesters in india have been doing it for centuries. And i remember in the viet nams they were doing it.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Really? India too? People are crazy.

[-] 2 points by ramous (765) from Wabash, IN 13 years ago

they feel strongly enough, but don't want to commit violence on anyone else. There have been real protests in the world. remember tanks killing in tianeman square? (chinese protesting against communism and for capitalism and freedom which they have now, finally after all their efforts) Occupy is kind of protest 'light'.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

I think they were protesting for democracy. And the Chinese are far from free. Let me guess...you are one of the free-market libertarians? All bow before the power of the free-market. It is a magical place of cotton-candy clouds and industrious munchkins. Only, on closer inspection, the cotton-candy clouds are causing acid rain and the munchkins are children working 50 hour weeks.

[-] 1 points by ramous (765) from Wabash, IN 13 years ago

whoa girlfriend. China has been communist since mao. Students protesting in Tianeman square protested against that, and for freedom, I didn't make that up lol. Chinese might be far from free, but they worked hard to get this far away from communism! many died to do it, so dont spit on their lives to die for their freedoms until you have the same willingness to die for your freedoms. I can't believe im hearing you diss on chinese protesters who died for their rights. have some respect for protesters. I might only be out in the cold 1/2 days at our local camp, and am not willing to die for my rights, but dang, you cold.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

You are a typical free-market evangelist. You put your own negative spin on everything I said while dodging the real substance of my message. Are you so afraid to defend your free-market ideals? It is YOU who dishonor those who died in Tianeman square by pretending they died for your sick version of capitalism when that was the furthest thing from their mind. They died for personal freedom and democracy. How dare you smear their message to promote your 1% agenda!

[-] 1 points by ramous (765) from Wabash, IN 13 years ago

im leading our town's camp. go take a midol.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Then your towns camp must be pretty f*cked-up. Hard to believe a bunch of OWSer's glorifying predatory capitalism. Maybe you're just a bold liar.

[-] 1 points by ramous (765) from Wabash, IN 13 years ago

and maybe you are wildly over reacting as a defense to your errors

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

I made no errors.

Yea..those Indians go MONTHS without bathing. Man up you wimps.

[-] 0 points by GypsyKing (8708) 13 years ago

I understand that sentiment, and agree with you about Warren, but can't you see that leaders=vulnerability. We must all be the leaders! It simply isn't possible to abdicate this responcibility and hope someone else will solve it for us.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Just so long as it works.

[-] 1 points by GypsyKing (8708) 13 years ago

I just don't see how leaders will make it worrk better. Once someone is identified as a leader than they can be discredited for either actual failings, or trumped up ones and the result is the same, discredit to the movement. Leaders are also vulnerable, and don't have a great life expectancy in real populist movements, as opposed to the front movements engineered by corporate interests, such as the tea party movement. Furthermore, how can leaders express our aims better than we ourselves can? As long as it works? Yes, less hope it works, but even great leaders can't guarentee that anything works - so I don't see the adavantage of leaders here either. I would honestly like to hear someone explain what exactly a leader would do for this movement.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

My thinking is that the leader served as a kind of focus, a living representation of the peoples will. Then he carries out the whole drama of starving himself like a ritual. As if to say, "your corruption is starving the will of the people." I believe in India the politicians could not have let such a popular figure die without suffering some form of shunning and political upheaval.

[-] 0 points by Idaltu (662) 13 years ago

How many fuck'in times does it have to be said? NO LEADERS! That is the basis of corruption.

[-] 1 points by daverao (124) 13 years ago

Then who will tell what OWS wants. Now it looks OWS wants everything free. Don't mind that is the impression. We want that rich makes money and give to us.

[-] 1 points by Idaltu (662) 13 years ago

Gosh, I just don't know the answer to that...hmmmm....Hey do you think it might be GET THE FUCK'IN MONEY OUT OF POLITICS! Oh but that is probably to complicated to understand.

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

It worked in India.

[-] -1 points by Jgalt (32) 13 years ago

You've got to be kidding me.

[-] 2 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Kidding?...WTF?

[-] -3 points by Jgalt (32) 13 years ago

She is a socialist. That's not what we want in the U.S. and the best way to label the movement.

[-] 1 points by JamesS89118 (646) from Las Vegas, NV 13 years ago

"She is a socialist." ?

Troll!

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

If you think EW is a socialist, you are just repeating Republican talking points. Republicans are the ass-kissing servants of the 1%. So must you be.

[-] -1 points by Jgalt (32) 13 years ago

Warren on the CFPB, "make basic financial practices such as taking out a mortgage or loan more clear and transparent while ferreting out unfair lending practices." She wants the Government to decide how to write contracts between private borrowers and private lenders; therefore, I call her a socialist.

A serious leader demands the people he/she leads be serious. She doesn't even demand the people she leads know how to read.

[-] 3 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

Thank you for posting that. I doubt that there are many Americans that would disagree with transparency in lending and fair lending practices. You have made my point, ass-kissing servant of the 1%.

[-] 2 points by JohnGottiSr (2) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

I know I for one fuckin' HATE when the government tells us how to write our loan contracts.

HATE it! Those FBI mooks can't take a joke, either.

[-] 1 points by JamesS89118 (646) from Las Vegas, NV 13 years ago

"She doesn't even demand the people she leads know how to read." ?

Troll!

[-] -3 points by Joeschmoe1000 (270) 13 years ago

Yeah but she an elitist troll .

Hahvahd? U r jokin if course....

[-] 2 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

You're the Troll. The elitists beat her up in the House. Are you too f*ckin stupid to realize that???

[-] -1 points by Joeschmoe1000 (270) 13 years ago

U callin names cause scared. When was she in the house? She's a fuckin Obama croney elitist snob control freak.

[-] 2 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

You don't even know what the House is?? Ignorant troll.

[-] -1 points by Joeschmoe1000 (270) 13 years ago

Name calling some more. When was the elitist tool Warren ever in the House?

[-] 2 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

When they called her in to beat her up, troll.

[-] 1 points by JamesS89118 (646) from Las Vegas, NV 13 years ago

That's the truth! Keep typing!

[-] -1 points by Joeschmoe1000 (270) 13 years ago

She was never nominated for any position. She had an czar role.

Czars deserve to get questioned by the people. More name calling I see. You are full of anger.

[-] 2 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

As I recall the Republicans called her some unflattering names. They were angry too, because they hate it when someone has the unmitigated gall to tell the truth about what the 1% are doing to this country.

[-] -1 points by Joeschmoe1000 (270) 13 years ago

Now you seem calmer, but are engaging in transference. They did it too-ism.

She failed in DC because her power grab attempt was too large. Now she is trying the same grab in MA. Good luck with that.

[-] 1 points by JamesS89118 (646) from Las Vegas, NV 13 years ago

"...her power grab..." ?

Troll!

[-] 0 points by Joeschmoe1000 (270) 13 years ago

Now you too are name calling.

Yes the woman has an overwhelming desire to control economic forces she personally finds distasteful. That is a power grab. She did not want accountability but she wants to be in government...

[-] 1 points by HitGirl (2263) 13 years ago

More like the .1% have an overwhelming desire to control political forces in order to rob and enslave the American people, whom they find distasteful. That makes you either a traitor to America, a paid shill or a very stupid troll.

[-] 1 points by JamesS89118 (646) from Las Vegas, NV 13 years ago

Astounding! 37 words and only one fact!

"Now you too are name calling."

Troll!
