none so far. i'd take it to IRC and let them know you think its a good idea. so far all i can contact is middle managers with no power to do that and no ability to contact higher up admins over it. In other words. red tape stone wall welcome to the same governmental systemic failures of the very system they are protesting. ironic isn't it? upvote my posts maybe that will help? contact them in IRC and tell them you also think its urgently crucial. ?

Gawdoftruth: has there been any sign that sub forums and/or a wiki will be created? As you've mentioned this communication system has a lot of flaws.

we need a wiki centered through this site by and with the initial organization for the protest. https://occupywallst.org/wiki

well, i made a wiki at wikia.com: http://occupywallstreet.wikia.com/wiki/OccupyWallStreet_Wiki

if you want to make another name, it's really easy. i wanted to get this just in case a bad guy was watching :)

er. wikia? the last time i dealt with them, they banned me for pointing out assorted fatal systemic problems. i had 3 wikias i was willing to run for them. This was before you could just start one on any topic and you had to beg them to start a new one. I'm sorry but i can't go anywhere near jimbo wales and the cult of intentional dumbledown and propaganda masquerading as etc public services. We need a wiki put up by our own techie and features only our own techies could install.

lol, sounds like you've made some enemies :-) i can't really help you on that one.

honestly, this forum is pretty slick from a technical standpoint. (i'm not saying anything about its organization). just a simple sort by date would do wonders.

there are wikia alternatives. i know you want this to be run by OWS techies, but here they are anyway: http://alternativeto.net/software/wikia/

we need 50 plugs ins i promise don't come standard and admin powers and access to ban people and ip addresses and all of that. Such hosting services in essence stick you out on a limb with only mod powers and with those you have to then admin a wiki. While i appreciate your thoughts and process, what we need is a wiki our own admins have back office access to.

the forum is a nightmare for scrawl. we need a forum org system with hundreds of sub forums in a topical list so that people can find specific old posts instead of missing them. a new "boycott" thread every 5 hours is a strong symptom of scrawl fatigue. nobodies reading even the table of contents of the threads.

yeah, i agree.. some simple server side tagging/searching/sorting could accomplish all of this.

also, i don't think people are aware of the vote up button.

[-] 1 points by gawdoftruth (3698) from Santa Barbara, CA 12 years ago

some of us just won't use a vote up button i for one don't. i haven't the time to think about that, i must get on to the next detail...

It seems like a lot of people want to see this movement successful and that they're even willing to dedicate time and money to make sure that it is.

As far as the wiki goes, I would say just do it -- create it -- but I do not have the authority to say this for this particular organization. Another option may be for others to create their own separate organization -- one that is organized in a way they prefer. Bring others into it...build and develop it...then connect with this one and other organizations that share similar interests so that meaningful coalitions begin to emerge. What can I do to assist?
