Forum Post: Stupid Conservatives

Posted 12 years ago on June 17, 2012, 7:58 a.m. EST by secnoot (-14)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

I have noticed on this board (and others) that quite a few of the posters spend their posting time insulting the conservative posters or people who have conservative ideas. I have noticed this on conservative boards, too. It seems to me that on conservative boards, the conservatives will argue points with the liberals and the liberals will insult the conservatives and their positions.

If the liberal position is so logically correct, why must the liberal resort to insults rather than backing up their position with a logical argument?

Gee I don't know. Maybe because some conservatives appear to be dense and simplistic. Stupid even. And do not appear capable of comprehending a logical argument if it does not fit with their simplistic notions. ie: taxes are thievery (remember that one?), and 'nothing has changed' - since the late 1700's. lol. That was a good one. But really. Hang on to those simplistic notions of yours. Cling to them. Because that's all you've got when you're that stupid.

And lets not forget this little gem, regarding taxes. - 'when you you vote for someone who promises they will take from others to provide for you, you are a thief.' - senoot.

For further clear examples of "stupid conservatives" and their "positions" :

ad iudicium ...

[-] -1 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

Those are not calling names, that is a description of someone who engages in that type of activity.

[-] 3 points by April (3196) 12 years ago

Jeesh. You are dense. Your comments are examples to show how some conservatives are dense and simplistic. Ultimately, stupid. You asked why conservatives get called names or why a liberal must 'resort to insults'. I've explained it. Because you're stupid. This should be simple enough for even you to understand: stupid deserves to be called out as stupid. I can't argue with stupid.

[-] 0 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

dense and simplistic is good writing

though I can't say the vague statements of politician qualify as either

[-] 0 points by DanielBarton (1345) 12 years ago

the last one one was the closest to name calling because he did call them a thief.

Now you are bluntly calling him stupid thats a great idea lets piss off the guy and prove his point way to go.

stupid is on all sides of the ball forever will be and no idea is perfect or correct no answer can be found for the all of the social problems because everyone has a different idea.

[-] -1 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

You prove my point. I rest my case.

[-] 2 points by April (3196) 12 years ago

I was not arguing the point that you're stupid. I agree that you're stupid. I agree that I call you stupid. It wouldn't surprise me one bit that you get called stupid by many others. I was explaining 'why' you are stupid. That was the question in your post - 'why'. I told you 'why'. You are dense and simplistic. And if you had two brain cells to rub together, I wouldn't have to be explaining all this to you.

[-] 2 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 12 years ago

It's ok, because then the anarchists make fun of the liberals. It's like the food chain you see

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

And I think the liberals and the anarchists both reside on the left side of the political spectrum! go figure. But you are correct the anarchists make fun of libs (and cons as well I think), And everyone in return makes fun of Anarchists. Very little substance really gets discussed and that is a problem with it's roots in human nature/American culture. We draw lines (religious, country, color, sex, politics, culture) and demonize the "others". It creates much demoralization, and apathy. It allows for acceptance of bullying to full scale war. But I ramble.

[-] 1 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 12 years ago

This is what I like to call intraclass war. It's when we fight each other instead of the 1%. It's just like catholics vs. protestants back in the day.

Unite in common cause's People!!!!!!!!!!

Health and prosperity for ALL.

Fair treatment for ALL.

What is so hard to understand?

Support what is beneficial to ALL.

Oppose what is detrimental to ALL - yep even detrimental to the ones making money off of being detrimental.

This is not a difficult concept.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

And even still on a lesser extent. But yes I agree. And I think the "intraclass war" has resulted in many left leaning/progressives to be apathetic, which is why the left has disappeared (1% design) and it has brainwashed 1/2 the 99% (conservatives) to support right wing policies that benefit the 1% and hurt their own class. It is insidious and demoralizing.

[-] -1 points by shadzhairart (-357) 12 years ago

And everybody makes fun of the anarchists.

I'm glad to hear that conservatives want less government, since what they propose means more laws and more government. Let me see, for a start, just this last week in Michigan a State Representative was silenced, because she used the word vagina. That must mean conservatives want to limit freedom of speech; they also want to limit sexual preferences, marriage choices, conception choices, abortion choices; all this plus they want to teach myth instead of science ("Intelligent design" (LOL), "creationism" (LOL)) and bomb the hell out of any nation that dares to disagree with us. So, tell me, Mister Conservative, how does that add up to less government?

If you don't care about any of the issues I've brought up and, in fact, believe the government has no place in deciding which perfectly acceptable anatomical words are appropriate, in legislating sexual preferences, marriage choices, conception choices, abortion choices, elevating religious myth into pseudo-science, and should start feeding people instead of bombing them, I have made a mistake, you agree with us, though I don't believe you'd find a large number of us consider ourselves liberal.

[-] 1 points by geo (2638) from Concord, NC 12 years ago

LIbtard, ecoNazi, marxist trash, are just a few comments I never heard before until I tried my first online debates with conservatives. I usually wait until I'm insulted first, and many here do the same.... but invariably the insults come when the logic in the argument fails.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Agreed. And I find the arg fails with cons 1st. They also use slurs against blacks, native Am, LGBT, immigrants, women. They seem to hate everyone but white male conservatives.

"If the liberal position is so logically correct, why must the liberal resort to insults rather than backing up their position with a logical argument?"

It's a preemptive tactic. Rather that wasting time writing a thought out argument, it saves energy to begin immediately with speaking in a language that conservatives actually understand.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Agreed. LOL

Here'sthe deal: The political-wing of the conservatives stalemate, filibuster, boycott, and do everything possible to stop progress when they don't have complete control. Since conservatives don't take issue with that, it makes your question n/a. They want complete control, plain and simple. So, we've reached the point where nothing from them is acceptable.

[-] -1 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

It is the liberals that want complete control.... shut down oil and coal, limit drinks to under 16 oz, outlaw smoking...

[-] 1 points by nazihunter (215) 12 years ago

Well, there we have it.....WAR. P.S. - go find a conservative site for your babble.

[-] 1 points by jimmycrackerson (940) from Blackfoot, ID 12 years ago

Haha limit drinks to under 16 oz. I'll just get two drinks...

The Right-wing Mormons tried something similar in Utah by limiting the alcohol content in beer to 3%. It still doesn't stop most people from getting plastered. People will always find ways around prohibition and pseudo-prohibition.

[-] 1 points by writerconsidered123 (344) 12 years ago

lowest common denominator

[-] 1 points by JenLynn (692) 12 years ago

Very few people change their point of view. Sooner or later someone calls the other person a name. There will probably be liberals making the same anecdotal argument you are making from their experience. Birthers, truthers, the guy I'm trading posts with that's paranoid about Mormons, conservatives or liberals, they all share something. They are tied to their beliefs and facts aren't going to make them change.

[-] 0 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

My bet would be the person that is arguing the left side will be the one who starts the name calling, and from what I have seen, the odds would be on my side.

[-] 1 points by JenLynn (692) 12 years ago

Could be. Personally I make my occasional comment or argument, avoid offering insults, and ignore them when their given. There are enough civil people from both sides for me to find someone to talk to.

[-] 0 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

I try my best not to insult unless I have been insulted first (and even then i try not to insult).

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

I remember

back in the day (November 2011)

people complaining about OWS lack of agenda

how that ended in the laps of the Demos and the Repubs

[-] -1 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

I am not sure I understand what you mean.

[-] 0 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

people accused OWS of having no agenda, and now neither the Dems or Pubs have an agenda

[-] 1 points by YouKilledTamdinThar (31) 12 years ago

and what is MattLHolck's purpose in life beyond posting mindless one-liners to a forum that is largely irrelevant?

[-] 0 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

The Tea Party has an agenda.

[-] 0 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

in four square,

a tea party is when two members only pass the ball to each other

[-] 1 points by YouKilledTamdinThar (31) 12 years ago

What is your purpose here, MattLHolck? You are here almost 24/7 posting one-liners that mean mostly nothing. And on the rare occasions you venture beyond that, all you exhibit is an ignorance of history and a disregard for fact.

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

Its all part of the media's divide and conquer strategy.

No one works together, they stay arguing at the bottom, and the top gets a free pass for whatever.

[-] 0 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

Here is an example of what I am talking about...

[-] 1 points by shadzhairart (0) 47 minutes ago

No, she means she owns a shotgun and a guard dog which can both do more immediate damage than your telekinetic skills, and she finds the weapon between your legs more powerful than the one between your ears. ↥twinkle ↧stinkle reply permalink

... and I might add, that the weapon between my legs is a far more formidable weapon than that tiny little liberal thing he tugs on

[-] -2 points by shadzhairart (-357) 12 years ago

What does that have to do with whether you're a conservative, communist, democrat, or anarchist. It was an apolitical joke.

... and I might add, that the weapon between my legs is a far more formidable weapon than that tiny little liberal thing he tugs on

But, I'm not a liberal. Why did you assume that I was?

[-] 0 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

I figured that only a liberal would not be able to control their facination with the weapon between my legs.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

lame

[-] 0 points by TransPacificPartnership (8) 12 years ago

Arguing Left/Liberal/Democrat versus Right/Conservative/Republican perpetuates the wedge issue based false dichotomy that empowers the two-party tyranny of the corporate fascist global elite by keeping the people divided and debating about puppets rather than united and attacking their masters pulling all strings - both Left and Right - behind the curtain:

[+] -5 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

Doesn't really change the point that left insults the person, the right agues the point.

[-] 0 points by TransPacificPartnership (8) 12 years ago

LMAO. You fool only yourself with this nonsense. There is no correlation between the left/right and intelligence/insults dichotomies. In other words, assholes come in all shapes, sizes and persuasions.

[-] -1 points by secnoot (-14) 12 years ago

I am just calling it as I see it...

Are you calling me a fool that posts nonsense with your post?

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I see mainly right wing posts that resort to horribly offensive insults. I've seen them use racist slurs against immigrants, black people (our Pres!), LGBT Americans, can you imagine left wingers insult these groups? Nope! I've seen right wingers refer to liberals as "libtards", (slur against mentally ill) and I've seen right wingers insult left wingers intelligence level in general.. I've seen right wingers threaten me and other people her if they challenge right wing dogma! I find the right wing does not argue with substance for very long at all. Usually they very quickly resort to the schoolyard bullyng tactics of their candidate Romney! Didn't conservatives create the politics of personal destruction from way back against the great Jimmy Carter, How about the more recent "swift boating" of the patriot Kerry? That was right wingers. Even Bush's campaign against their own McCain, (right wing rove neo cons!) The rove strategy is to use personal attack in order to distract from the given issue at hand because the right wing proudly trumpets the policies that benefit the 1% and hurts the rest of us. They can't argue the issue as you suggest. They must distract, deflect, deny, by using insults and personal attacks. The Dems support the policies of the 99% (at least in rhetoric) they have less need to insult.

You haven't seen the many right wing posters insulting the people of OWS with all the names you could possibly imagine? It happens all the time on these boards.
