When I watch the live feeds of protestors shoving baracades at the police and then crying "brutality" when the cops shove the baracade back into place I have to ask mysel: Why do you think you get a pass on "violence"?

[-] 1 points by Harty151 (12) 12 years ago

The OWS movement is just a disruption to society, people get a job and get on with your lives

[-] 1 points by stevonbi (85) 12 years ago

85% of us HAVE a job, silly. More than 1/2 of us are ex-military and vets. 100% of us pay taxes. Who have you been listening to? (actually, I know...so just a rhetorical question;)

[-] 1 points by scoff (21) 12 years ago

Why is it when OWS tries to block people from going to work and "shut down" legitimate business, that's Ok, but when they are arrested for this crime it's "violence". Grow the FCK up.

[-] 3 points by buphiloman (840) 12 years ago

Um, because they don't cage, tear-gas, pepper spray, LRAD, and brutally beat/stomp/club/and bloody the people trying to get to work. Unlike the police. The violence that decent human beings have an obligation to speak out against is not being perpetrated by anyone but poilice.

You've escalated the situation to where the police must use force. If you obeyed lawful orders to stop trying to block citizens and businesses then it would not have been escalated this far. You have forced violence upon yourselves. You are like children pushing and pushing until you get spanked. You are damn lucky you live in such a free and open society. In most other countries you'd be tear gassed or maybe even shot at by now. Clueless babies. Go back to occupying your parents' basements

Stop watching Fox...they (and all corporate-owned media vastly underreport the number of protesters, and overreport the number of protesters that step out of line. Do the research before you come here talking bullshit. The cops are screening people who enter certain streets: no suit, no entry. They are not allowing signs in Liberty Park...I could go on and on, but YOU need to learn the truth

[-] 2 points by buphiloman (840) 12 years ago

amen stevon :) ...these Fauxbots have literally zero capacity for critical thought (or objective observation).

[-] 1 points by scoff (21) 12 years ago

Actually the only news I've seen all day is THIS site! I just know that what you are doing by trying to "shut down" businesses and block people from freely going to their places of employment is not legal and I'm astonished that you children act so surprised and put upon when the police step in over it.

[-] 2 points by buphiloman (840) 12 years ago

I act astonished when US citizens are brutally beaten with truncheons, tear-gassed, pepper sprayed, grenaded, and verbally/physically assaulted, without giving prior cause, and without due process.

And I am even more astonished when the Tin-despot and Cartoon Character Michael Bloomberg orders all news helicopters grounded, and several blocks around the sight cleared of all press. In an effort to create a space where the 1st amendment doesn't exist.

Bloomberg's actions are a clear violation of Posse Comitatus, he should be impeached and imprisoned for his violation of the constitutional rights of our free press, which kept our nation great for nearly 200 years (though not so much lately).

[-] 1 points by scoff (21) 12 years ago

WTF!? You told the whole fucking world that you were going to "Shut Down" Wall St and you don't think they had prior cause!? Do you even think before you write?

[-] 1 points by buphiloman (840) 12 years ago

The deployment of physical violence, in US law, requires a high standard of prior cause, one must either be engaging in violence against the police or against other people.

Standing on a public street/sidewalk, and barring someone's way, without harming them or laying a finger on them, is not cause for the polica to deploy violent tactics.

Police DO NOT HAVE TO use force. They are making the choice to do so.

All true, but it's hard to see clearly when the eyes of the tantrum child are wet with misplaced angst.

[-] 0 points by ikki5 (61) 12 years ago

what police violence? I see a bunch of dogs causing self inflicted wounds on themselves

[-] 0 points by NonParticipant (151) 12 years ago

Be ready to be arrested if you commit civil disobedience. You are breaking the law. The police have a right and an obligation to arrest anyone who is breaking the law. Even if you are committing civil disobedience peacefully, you are breaking the law and you will be arrested. Don't cry and whine and say you are being harassed. You are breaking the law and you will be arrested. If you push forward to commit your civil disobedience and people get hurt or you trespass, block streets or bridges, the police have the right to stop you. I don't see police violence. I see police trying to control an unruly, out-of-control crowd that thinks it's ok to do what they want because they want it.

[-] 1 points by stevonbi (85) 12 years ago

You are a sub-moron if you think stepping on people's heads is ok for a misdemeanor. Many arrestees do NOTHING to deserve the punching, kicking, and macing they get. Of course, you must do WHATEVER they say, even if it's illegal. You seem unaware of what's actually happening. The info is there if you want it; or you can just roll merrily along and watch everyone's rights get pissed on

[-] 0 points by NonParticipant (151) 12 years ago

Oh my gosh, you hurt my feelings calling me a sub-moron. I'm going to go cry now.
