''What happened to The Democratic Party over the last few decades in relation to issues of class and poverty ?'' asks David Barsamian of Barbara Ehrenreich after her talk, in this very important News / Info Post from OWS/Plainfield/NJ.

I concur with the other posters - it is essential listening, with the 'QandA' after the talk being wide ranging & addressing, inter alia - Occupy, Debt, The Prison Industrial Complex etc. Thus. in compliment, please also further consider :

Re. The pdf of her famous book above, see 'The Readers Guide' (p123) at the end first perhaps + see :

That's exactly what the economics departments are dedicated to=maintain the status quo.

106 billion dollars a year of wage theft. Amen.

I read her book Nickle and Dimed many years ago. This is the first time that I have listened to her speak. This is really good.

Criminalizing poverty is a big time issue, being considered a criminal in a job is an issue.

I see this attitude often with some volunteers in the form of self righteous you-should-feel-priveleged-that-I-am-even-talking-to-you. Now, listen to my advice and do what I tell you and all your problems will cease to exist.

Too, with some classes. You are going to devise a program to teach what? No, what is wanted is a sense of fatalism, obedience, gratitude and..........church going. It's a very surreal concept of the world.
