State Department spokesman Mark Toner was question recently if a planned attack on Iran would provoke a global war between the US, Russia and China:

His only response was to dodge the question.
Politicians don't know much about war outcomes, that's why we have a defense dept who understands if we attack Country A, Countries B,D,G will rally to their side and fight back causing uprisings in these other countries.
They are the ones who strategize and try to effect the outcomes, to the extent of covertly funding (via the intel people) proxy wars among regional groups to effect a greater goal. We are the champions of coups, but deny having caused them.
As to anyone who does not know the answer to the question on Iran, Russia has openly said it will support Iran if the US is involved in a war against it. Read some of the Iranian newspapers to get an understanding of it.

It's gross. To us in the states, it's just another country world we need to "democratize" or "take their oil" or "bomb cause all arabs are terrorists". Now if russia threatens us, our adolescent response will be "but we can beat russia too".
This war will not make us stronger. I don't think even Obama wants to go to war. We need to sever all ties with Israel because they are killing us.
Agreed. Let Israel stand on it's own and defend itself and it's borders. They have nukes. Yet they are on our Nuclear Missile Launch system with Launch on Warning Status, meaning if the system thinks something has been launched, our missiles will be launched bringing us into their war.
If we go to war this time, it will be the US, Israel, France, Germany, UK (the allied nations) versus that entire half of the world including Russia and China. Pakistan and India have nukes, as does Russia. Who can we get to help fight Russia? Can't ask Osama to help this time, and they most certainly try to take Afghanistan to get proximity to Pakistan and their nukes.
We need to stop the incursion into that part of the world. Palestine has 9 our of 15 votes needed for statehood in the UN, but the US will veto it, denying them that; there is no country that will stand by us after that happens if war breaks out over there. None.

They teach them diplomacy or political speak when they go to those Ivy league colleges. It is a way to not offend anyone because no one ever knows where they stand on an issue.
