I had a conversation about the word "libtard" in reference to Starbucks and wound up discovering this great little phrase.

Starbucks Liberal:

"Typically drinks frappachinos, reads the New York Times, drives a Prius, and listens to NPR. Votes for any Democrat, regardless of actual position on policy, for an endless list of reasons, most of which are unexamined and fallacious. Considers him or herself a radical, a progressive, and believes in grassroots causes without actually supporting any."

I think a few may be supporting OWS now.

Any thoughts?

So, you must be a Fox conservative.

"Typically drinks Dunkin Donuts coffee, watches Fox News, drives a Hummer, and listens to Rush Limbaugh. Votes for any Republican, regardless of actual position on policy, for an endless list of reasons, most of which are unexamined and fallacious. Considers him or herself a patriot, a conservative, and a Christian, and believes in charities without actually supporting any."

They think they are the "real" Americans! As Sara Palin would say... "you betcha"!

A D&D Conservative... I love it! lol

Nobody in OWS can afford overpriced Starbucks coffee.

[-] 3 points by JonValle (133) 13 years ago

This.

Screw that. Cheap box of tea bags and some hot water. Done.

[-] 2 points by Edgewaters (912) 13 years ago

Yep. Well I do drink coffee but I just make it at home or work. Who the hell wants to drink sludge out of some machine that hasn't been cleaned since God knows when? Everybody who's actually had to work min wage jobs in chains knows perfectly well the employees are abused and feel like peons and don't give a crap, and they don't clean things regularly or thoroughly at all.

You've got to forgive people like the op for their ignorance, though. Their minds are little more than sponges that receive television signals. Reality is a sitcom. When they try to understand something of the real world, all they can do is project a television show onto it; it's backwards to them. Television is their real world, and the real world is their television. Instead of looking at a television show and thinking "what reality does this reflect?" they look at the real world and think "what TV show does this reflect?" (apparently this individual has decided it's Friends, for some reason).

Lol. I'm too tired to respond to this, but well said friend, well said.

They clean the coffee maker at the lab with bleach o_O.

[-] 1 points by Edgewaters (912) 13 years ago

Ouch. Well I just use a hand-drip. No machine to clean. Don't need power, you can take it camping if you want. It's just like making tea, basically.

[-] 2 points by JonValle (133) 13 years ago

We have a french press. :P

Me and the girlfriend that is. Heh, way for us to get terribly off topic lol.

[-] 2 points by Edgewaters (912) 13 years ago

Yeah, shame, the topic was so relevant and well thought out. Pity we've derailed it, really.

[-] 1 points by JonValle (133) 13 years ago

I'm sure you're smiling just as much as I am while I type this.... lol.

That adequately describes entire recent generations-thank you! I encourage people of all ages to understand that this political theater is just that-for your consumption, dispensed from the halls of congress (starbucks) by teenage wanabes who don't bother cleaning the machine-Nor care that you and I are somewhat forced to consume it. Actually there's another choice -we've been discussing that here. Please bring your wit to the conversation-learn something new in the process. http://occupywallst.org/forum/interesting-read-about-the-constitution-and-corpor/#comment-413890

should i cry for you now or tomorrow when i am on my way to work with a cup of coffee from starbucks?

[-] 2 points by Edgewaters (912) 13 years ago

If you wanna cry, then just get it over with. Do you want some "alone time" or do you expect an audience? I'm guessing the latter since you're telling us about it.

[-] -1 points by morons123 (131) 13 years ago

i would like some alone time. thanks :)

[-] 0 points by Edgewaters (912) 13 years ago

I make coffee at home (Pilão - o cafe forte do Brasil). I vote independently. I support grassroot, environmental, and civil rights groups. I get my news primarily from independent (non-corporate) news sources.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 13 years ago

I get all my coffee from Traci's Corner.

A nice local coffee shop.

[-] 2 points by powertothepeople (1264) 13 years ago

Ridiculous stereotyping.

And another thing! Anyone who really appreciates espresso coffee doesn't go to starbucks unless they're having a true caffeine emergency.

That coffee tastes of burnt beans.

I drink what they drink in Italy - Lavazza or Illi.

Made at home or from the one coffee bar in my area that uses Lavazza.

[-] 2 points by riethc (1149) 13 years ago

Ridiculous, sure.

Untrue? Possibly.

Worth examining? I say so.

[-] 2 points by powertothepeople (1264) 13 years ago

The part about supporting causes with lip service only is worth examining, I agree there.

The degeneracy of American democracy can be measured by the frequency with which people confuse purchases with politics or advertising with speech.

[-] 2 points by riethc (1149) 13 years ago

You're right on point.

[-] 2 points by looselyhuman (3117) 13 years ago

Consumers replace citizens.

[-] 1 points by morons123 (131) 13 years ago

SBUX great stock great company great coffee great CEO. Great American story. Don't want to offend any OWS's but the great story has to do with hard work.

Starbucks is far too mainstream.

[-] 2 points by powertothepeople (1264) 13 years ago

Burnt beans!

[-] 0 points by agnosticnixie (17) from Laval, QC 13 years ago

Well, that too.
