Forum Post: Specific Goals??

Just saying "we can no longer afford to let corporate greed and corrupt politics set the policies if our nation" is nothing without a list of specific measureable goals... that let you know when you've succeeded.

This is why many are struggling to understand what your movement is trying to do. Do you: 1) have specific ideas how to attack corporate greed? 2) have ideas on how to affect change via legislation or the market-place? 3) know how to tell when your goal is reached?

Are these not common sense questions??

Without these ideas, this movement will only be seen as a hippy-mentality movement trying to fight back "against tha man". You may gain loud voices, but it'll only be full of confusing noise.

I agree: permanent and profound electoral reform is the idea whose time has come here. Leaving the wealthy in control of our electoral politics means leaving them in control of us and everything. Making our politics resemble a sacred trust among us all must be the ultimate goal; at present, American politics more closely resembles the private domain of someone else's trust fund.

Exactly, you need a comprehensive strategy that implements all their various demands at the same time, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategic Legal Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

Adopt Taibbi's platform. The proposals are concrete steps that will reign in corrupt practices on Wall Street.

It's starting to get there. They're hard to find, because there's still a lot of noise, but I, at least, am seeing specifics bubble up to the surface. There are already several trends. The one I am joining my voice to is the trend demanding campaign finance reform - and other steps designed to separate money from governance.

I still believe that is the one issue that defines the 99%. We will see if the momentum continues.
