hi there, this post is to spread good news about an important development that has happened recently in my country, spain. May be you remember 15M, the social movement that started here on may 2011. After three more years of protests on the streets, with demonstrations that gathered several hundred thousand people that produced no result in the government´s decision to continue applying austerity policies -meaning serious setbacks in social healthcare, education and working conditions- the movement established a party to be represented in the recent european election of may 25th. As a result of this election our party (called "Podemos" = "We Can") got an astonishing 7,97% of the votes (roughly 1,250,000 votes), which grants 5 seats in the european parliament. This result has caught the mass media and big parties (the standard biparty situation) completely unprepared, mostly considering that podemos was formed barely 100 days ago. I can say that my guess is that the people´s support for the cause of a generally better society will only grow in bigger numbers as, of the past week, many voters were not even aware of the existance of this new political formation. Also Syriza, the greek party of indignados has achieved great results in this election. I just wanted to share these good news with you all. Have fun, share your love and follow your soul http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/may/27/podemos-citizen-politics-spain-elections-indignados-movement http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-eu-27579898 http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/may/26/syriza-european-elections-greece

today the king of spain (yes, we still have those things here) has anounced his abdication. Supposedly his son and heir will inherit the throne. I say supposedly, because there is a general cry here to end monarchy. Events are happening fast. It seems as if the veil had fallen in the past days and the parties and institutions look suddenly really, really old
