I am SO proud of the American people right now. As a Canadian, I've watched with growing despair as America tumbled away from the founding principles of your great country, and began to grow into a corrupt, arrogant and near-fascist state of inequality and ignorance.
OWS has shown the world that this is NOT America. America has always been the people, and the people are taking back what was lost.
Canada's fate and well-being has always depended on what our cousins to the south did, and for the past 20 years we've become more and more alienated from a country we no longer understood. Now, the vast majority of Canadians are so proud of you! Our faith in the people of America is being confirmed.
To show our support for, and solidarity with, our common sisters and brothers of America, OWS demonstrations are taking place in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, Ottawa and Victoria on Saturday October 15. An estimated 10,000 people will participate in Toronto, and nearly 5,000 in Vancouver. In all, it is estimated that more than 30,000 Canadians will participate across the country to show our support for the wonderful people of America.
These are historic and exciting times. Once again, I am so PROUD of the American people!
