All the "mic check" stuff is well known for formulating a "follower" mentality and tapping into and identifiable angst such as tuition loans and foreclosures gives some measure of take up.

A blast from the past
Occupy is all about controlling useful idiots. The techniques were developed long ago, and have been used to no avail before. They ARE however incredibly useful for determining WHO the useful idiots are and grouping them in such a manner that intelligent people can keep an eye on them.
