“We must bring money back down to earth.” – Slow Money Principle I
I wasn't aware of the " slow money" movement in this country and found this website in one of my scientific journals today http://www.slowmoney.org/ Very interesting!
I briefly viewed their website and realized that their philosophy of change reminded me very much of the OWS movement.
"We don't need any more big ideas. We need small ideas. Beautiful ideas. Beautiful because they lead to a large number of beautiful, small actions, the kind alluded to by Wendell Berry: 'Soil is not usually lost in slab or heaps of magnificent tonnage. It is lost a little at a time over millions of acres by careless acts of millions of people. It cannot be solved by heroic feats of gigantic technology, but only by millions of small acts and restraints.'"

As "MONEY" (whatever THAT really is these days !!) is Only Ever any good when it is doing the rounds and circulating - as opposed to when IT is being stolen, "hoovered-up" & hoarded {cf. "INSIDE JOB", The Latest Working Link : http://documentarystorm.com/inside-job/ }, please consider Physical Money [Notes and Coins] that is "Time Limited ; with a 'use/spend by' date" !!!
ab absurdum ?
If you really want to get Wall Street and the banks attention, stop paying your mortgage. Most people are afraid to do this because the bank will foreclose on them and their credit will be trashed. But if all (many) people stop paying, the banks can't foreclose on all the properties and they don't want to, either. They are not in the real estate business; they are in the money business. As for the credit reporting companies they will not be able to report on all the delinquencies as it would be too overwhelming to do so. There has to be an organized grassroots movement to recruit lots of mortgagee's to do this and a target date for action. Just think if all people stopped paying their mortgage that would hit the banks where it hurts and you will really get the attention of Wall Street! This would free up money that would be going into the banks coffers that could be used for food and other necessities thus stimulating the economy.
Yeah and stop filing tax returns and stop voting too. Actions speak louder than words for sure. But, I fear there are too many sheeples that are fearful of becoming social pariahs.

"What if there were a new generation of companies that gave
away 50% of their profits?"
Why, may I ask, would anyone do that? What would the point be? Would you give up 50% of your income?
Sure I would! I have plenty, more than enough for myself. Heck, church goers give at least 20 percent of their income to their churches. I would rather invest 20 percent back into my local small sustainable businesses. No one should ever give more than they can afford to give. But, there in lies the issue of what each man or woman believes they can afford and their perception is usually a bit distorted. It's so hard to choose between a new Mercedes and a good crop of organic kale isn't it?
Well no offense to you but I think you perception is a bit distorted.

Slow money ,as in the past, as in ; save then buy, stagnates the economy .
Borrowing towards the future , ( in a responsible manner ), meaning pay your debts , and don't get bailed out or file for bankruptcy , helps the economy !
Then borrow yourself into oblivion. I hope you are able to borrow a significant enough amount that, you too, are bailed out instead of having to file a chapter 7.
Thanks for the article and the link. I mean it.
You're welcome. I was really quite glad that I stumbled on the article. If you're not familiar with Wendell Berry, check out his books. The man is truly my kinda guy. If only he were single and a few years younger :(
Easy puddin, it's some rational and sensible libertarian reading.
Shut up, Frog.
Honey, are you ok? You seem a bit reactionary and green around the gills.
Better than ever. I would like to say that I am a little disappointed. 'Cept, I'm not.
Well, we can't be disappointed when we are short sighted and more clever and devious people have a iIttie fun with it. No harm, they are all just keystrokes.
I knew it was coming when I saw it go down before. It has nothing to do with cleverness. There is an l in my moniker.
Honey, why throw Prudence out the window? Now I know she is a real PITA and not much fun, but, still...........

Very interesting, but the OWS movement wants to have big government control all the individual small acts and restraints.
No, I don't entirely believe that. For one thing OWS believes that government is nothing more than another corporate conglomerate anyway. We need to get out of this ' all or nothing' government mindset. The fact remains that lack of government regulation has led to all sorts of corporate abuse. I'm reminded of that ole adage , " give'em an inch and they take a mile". Is it just human nature to constantly seek more and more even at the cost of human life and liberty? Humans have proven time and time again that they cannot be trusted to regulate themselves on a personal or corporate level. I find this to be rather pathetic for such an evolved species.
I am much more comfortable with humans regulating themselves on a personal and corporate level than I am giving a government the power to regulate and control them. Government has proven itself to be far more evil than any one person or corporation.
So what does that say about "Democracy" then ?!
A democracy is inherently evil, that is why the United Stated was set up Constitutional Republic with democratically elected representatives.
"A democracy is inherently evil" ?!!!
Really ?!!
WTF is The U$A doing trying to export it to other people around The World then ?!
ad iudicium ...
That's what Reagan thought too and ideally, I am in agreement with you both. However, Reagan and I are utopian Aquarians ( same birthday too) that can be too optimistic and trusting and not realistic. The government is currently run by corporations so it's no wonder that we are in the current state we are in. Man corrupts government. We need to find trustworthy leaders to fairly represent and serve our best interests in government. We need to have a very transparent delineation between big business and state, local and federal gov't.
I do not know of a government system that is not run by man.
Tell that to Master Control.. LoL...
