Forum Post: Selling under cost

If a business does this, what happens? If an employee does this, what happens? The business will go under. The employee may go hungry. Business, WallSt and congress are endorsing nothing short of slavery by perpetuating a system that forces individuals to sell their labor under cost. Something no other part of our economy is systematically forced to do. Why does the media continue to ignore this basic and obvious aspect of the issue?

Probably because there aren't any events to go along with it, such as union strikes, etc. At least, that's what gets these kinds of issues reported in Europe. That's why OWS received worldwide coverage.

But even Occupy doesn't bring a business aspect to the argument. Moral arguments are fine, but any product or service sold under cost must be subsidized, lest it becomes unsustainable. The logical aspect must accompany the moral argument. Pitty alone will not make the case for lasting change on this front.
