The Grameen Bank has enabled millions of women to lift themselves out of poverty by giving them tiny loans to buy animals or equipment to start earning money. But Bangladesh's jealous Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, has fired its Nobel Prize winning founder Muhammad Yunus and now wants to seize control of the bank, all to silence a political rival. This takeover could break the bank and destroy millions of people's hope.
Hasina is already facing a series of scandals at home -- if we can add a giant global backlash to her list of worries, we can force her to back down. When 1 million of us come together, Avaaz will kick off a media firestorm in Bangladesh and around the world, shaming her into ending this vengeful attack. Sign the urgent petition now.

Bangladesh will eventually be absorbed into India, which is one of the largest developing nations in the world. The IMF would be watching this kind of move very closely, maybe even pushing for it.

It would be ironic if the new world order actually turned out to be run by we the people, by the people, for the people.
By all accounts - this current system is coming to a rapid close - One can hope for the best in the system to come.
I was pushing a lady car off the street the other day, her little kids were in the back seat. Traffic was all backed up. By the time I got up near her, no one had helped her. I pulled over and started pushing her car down the street to the next side street.
You should have heard the things people were screaming at us. Im not sure if I want the collective to be running things sometimes.
I'm kind of hoping there's a period of time when the system fails, and those people will simply go back to their primitive roots, fail at surviving, and leave the competent people to take up the challenge of the brave new world.
