Under Ron Pauls' states libertarian rights doctrine it would be perfectly fine if states decided to hang pot smokers.

RP would remove the guarantee of constitutional protection from US citizens by leaving it to 50 different states to interpret, implement or discard as they saw fit (or were paid to).

Christian fundamentalists would have a field day.

[-] 4 points by GreedKills (1119) 12 years ago

Of course, and that is the true agenda of Ron Paul.

[-] -3 points by Misfit138 (172) 12 years ago

You obviously have no clue how the Constitution works or what RP stands for. Go back to the Daily Kooks and get more talking points.

[-] 2 points by UncomonSense (386) 12 years ago

The way the current administration and congress - as well as previous administrations and congresses - have ignored and undermined the constitution, you, Sir, are the one without a clue.

[-] 0 points by Misfit138 (172) 12 years ago

And who is the one fighting for the Constitution, Paul or the rest of Congress?

[-] 2 points by UncomonSense (386) 12 years ago

Paul isn't fighting anything: he wants to roll back the Constitution to 1791. He would cede all powers after the 10th Amendment to the states.

Amendment 10 - Powers of the States and People.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Hello Poll Tax, goodbye women's suffrage, term limits, selection of senators by popular election, right of minorities to vote, and so on ...

[-] 0 points by Misfit138 (172) 12 years ago

Maybe you didn't know, but the Constitution has more than 10 Amendments which cover all of of your unfounded fears. Educate yourself and stop believing everything DailyKos or Fox tells you.

[-] 2 points by UncomonSense (386) 12 years ago

You are literally too stupid to insult.

[-] -2 points by Misfit138 (172) 12 years ago

"Hello Poll Tax, goodbye women's suffrage, term limits, selection of senators by popular election, right of minorities to vote, and so on ..." And you call me stupid.

[-] 2 points by UncomonSense (386) 12 years ago

These are constitutional protections that your fundamentalist butt buddy would leave to the states to determine. His constitution stops at #10. Many of his positions violate later amendments. Or didn't you know that?

Actually, Ron Paul does not support the Death Penalty, nor does the Libertarian Party.

As I pointed out in the other thread, under the current laws Nevada was able to make a gram of Marijuana punishable by 5 years in prison, yet California is unable to legalize Medical Marijuana.

Ron Paul's stance is that the Federal Government should not be involved in Drug Policy, as is the Libertarian Parties.

I'm not sure what "states libertarian rights doctrine" is, or what exactly you are referring to.

Don't forget gays, those who support them and unruly children.

http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/ron-pauls-campaign-touts-endorsement-of-pastor-who-advocates-killing-gay-people/

Looks like the Paulbearers don't want people to see this little fact.

[-] -1 points by aahpat (1407) 12 years ago

"Paulbearer". Very apt. Thank you for that.

[-] 1 points by GreedKills (1119) 12 years ago

Much better than connecting the Paulbearers to those who suffer from an illness. The disabled are smarter and have much more compassion for their fellow man/women.

Only communist/socialist fear Ron.

[-] -2 points by GreedKills (1119) 12 years ago

Right out of The John Birch Society's 1968 playbook.

wow, I though you are ignorant.... but you've proved me wrong, you are just plain stupid.

[-] -2 points by FrogWithWings (1367) 12 years ago

Well if states were largely populated with such out of touch and draconian people, then reasonable people should move to another state. All the polls I've seen show that people who want pot criminalized and illegal are in the minority........ in every state of the Union.

And if the will of the people cannot be served at the state level, it's much easier to occupy your state capitol than DC, especially if you don't live close to DC.

[-] 1 points by aahpat (1407) 12 years ago

That does not address the actual issue of libertarian states rights being permissive of draconian state laws. And Ron Paul supporting states rights no matter what draconian things the states choose to do.

[-] 2 points by jaktober (286) from Sonoma, CA 12 years ago

Again, that is not true. The 9th and 10th Amendment permit the States to rule on subject not covered by the Constitution (and Bill of Rights). So States cannot infringe on the rights covered by the Constitution. So States, under Ron Paul, could never institute slavery, prohibit free speech, deny fair trial, perform cruel and unusual punishment, etc.

If you don't know could you look into it and repost once you know for sure.

Basically you are concerned that if Ron Paul is elected states will make drug crimes punishable by slavery? Is there any way to assure you that will not happen under any President? Santorum wants it to be illegal to be gay, though as President I doubt he'd be able to accomplish that; I'm afraid of his Foreign Policy...

That's been happening for years in Amerika. Inmates are housed, owned and controlled by private corporations who get paid large several ways from several sources, all stemming from citizens taxes, AND THEN large profits from their $0.25/hr slave's labor contracting out to other groups, including our own military.

[-] 1 points by jaktober (286) from Sonoma, CA 12 years ago

They do that in China to political dissidents. Laws being passed by this Administration and the Previous are opening the definition of "Terrorist" to be any political dissident, so I'd say it is more likely to happen under anyone other than Ron Paul. Ron Paul appears to genuinely want to work at reversing this trend.

[-] 0 points by Misfit138 (172) 12 years ago

You can't let facts get in thew way of these hate filled morons.

[-] 1 points by FrogWithWings (1367) 12 years ago

If that is what your state is largely about and it grieves you, it sounds like you need more reasonable neighbors.

I'm certain there are states in which I'd never live.

You see the glass empty instead of being glad it could be full.

Are you afraid all of your states-persons would have things so vastly different than how you idealize them?

Paul supports returning to the Rule of Law and people having the liberty to pursue their own happiness limited by only the Constitution which can be changed, amended or expanded.

You're beating a dead horse going nowhere. Easier to change your neighbors thinking than citizens from all 50.

Hey! What about NDAA and the soon to be passed laws that allow DC to strip citizenship to make it just that much easier. What is your state doing about that federal DC stomping all over at least one of the Constitutions.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxYDnYgQ5MQ

the first five seconds reveals truth many of you truly cannot handle

btw and fyi... the civil war amendments were not attached to the "original Constitution"

[-] -3 points by FarIeymowat (49) 12 years ago

Oh yea, the hangings will begin as soon as the new president takes office. Why the hell would you post something so moronic?

[-] 1 points by FrogWithWings (1367) 12 years ago

I'm sure you've noticed the almost instant buzz over the news, upon the signing of NDAA, of the flash flurries of arrests in the United States of domestic terrorist with about half of them being "lone wolves".

Can the states do anything about it now? Mostly no, however.....

the desensitizing has begun and most people do not know this, but, your local sheriff can prevent the Feds from invading or entering your county.

[-] -3 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

Or anyone else for any reason whatsoever.

[-] 4 points by FrogWithWings (1367) 12 years ago

Can you two regime plants try and be even more ridiculous and plain stupid?

Imagine your Obama touting self remaining oblivious to NDAA and talking this stupid smack. I'm sure you've been catching the media as it desensitizes the public to all of the sudden arrests for domestic situations or just neighborly spats are now seemingly domestic terrorists and about half of them allegedly "lone wolves". That will end up soon being people like you and asshat.

Your boy is the tyrant and your crew of blind supporters and "rationalizers" are just plain dumb.

[-] -2 points by FrogWithWings (1367) 12 years ago

Not true, just idiots like you and a few others for the betterment and amusement of reasonable people.

[-] -1 points by GreedKills (1119) 12 years ago

Gotta love the rEVOLution and the love they spread!!! Stomp any Ladies' heads on any curbs lately tadpole???

[-] -1 points by FrogWithWings (1367) 12 years ago

I'm genuinely concerned about your well being and liberty after de facto accusation of Barack Hussein Obama of being a Neo-Confederate.

You have been watching the news after the recent signing of the NDAA, right?

You recall saying anyone suggesting there is more than one Constitution is indeed this or that type of extremist?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxYDnYgQ5MQ

Well maybe he is, but, he knows much more about the Constitution than you and your commie/socialist friday girl.
