The above link to an LA Times article is no news to me. One of the primary mechanism by which private industry increases profits is by firing people and making the company "more efficient". Labor is a major cost to any company. Here is a choice quote from the article.
Bain [the private equity firm Romney worked at - my note] managers said their mission was clear. "I never thought of what I do for a living as job creation," said Marc B. Walpow, a former managing partner at Bain who worked closely with Romney for nine years before forming his own firm. "The primary goal of private equity is to create wealth for your investors."
The machine is grinding on. Imaging a private equity manager gets elected as the President of this country. There go more jobs... or rather, real wages for the working class will be driven down, and down, and down.... The goal of any major corporation who's primary focus is on maximizing profits....
All despicable people in the running. As though our nation could not bring forth an honest and capable leader.
