Here is a link to the White Petition, I was very surprised the White House had not been asked this maybe it just doesn't get enough signatures, people are paranoid about signing stuff I guess.

Oh crap, Science is about to upsurp the DEA's cash baby. How are they going to justify all those invasions into Mexico?

''The Big Lie in the War Against Drugs'' by the ever excellent Thom Hartmann:

respice; adspice; prospice ...

[-] 2 points by Shule (2638) 8 years ago

And if that is not enough, without doing to much research, one comes to find that the biggest drug dealers are the governments themselves. Who is protecting the poppy crops in Afghanistan? Why U.S. military forces of course. Poppy yields and heroin use have never been higher since the U.S.G. invaded.

The U.S. military torched the poppy fields in their naïveté of earlier years and turned the Afghan populace into enemies. When they realized that the cause would be lost, they figured out that poppies were livelihoods that they had been torching so they stopped.

This was a bit like the quest for the Prohibition of alcohol in the U.S. itself, sehr amerikanisch, with the two countervailing constitutional amendments, the federal income taxes, and the [Non-]Federal [No-]Reserve commemorating the quest perennially and for all posterity to remember. Every April 15th or thenabout, we shall remember. Every time we shop, use a federal reserve note, and feel its not going as far as it used to, we shall remember. Every time our posterity learns of our Constitution's evolution, they shall remember.

Our prisons filled to capacity by our war on drugs shall be monuments to our aspirations and the opiate deaths worldwide shall commemorate our coming to our senses in the uniquely American way.

The Fact That The Heroin Trade is an aspect/arm of US Foreign Policy is not really a matter for debate ... just like the trade in Cocaine is/was! Thanx for your excellent link, in compliment of which, I append:

from which .. '' 2014 was a banner year for Afghanistan’s booming opium industry. According to a United Nations annual survey released on Wednesday, opium cultivation set a record in 2014, increasing by an impressive 7 percent year-over-year and up nearly 50 percent from 2012.

''Afghanistan presently produces 80 percent of the world’s heroin - which provides billions of dollars in illicit profits for the powerful drug Mafia. Heroin trafficking and production have flourished under the US military occupation and transformed Afghanistan into a dysfunctional narco-colony.

''This isn’t just about profits (& covert funding CIA ops). It’s about crushing workers movements, leftist organizations, and any emerging grassroots group that threatens the US plutocratic system of wealth distribution. To achieve that end .. Washington would just as soon climb into bed with jihadis and Neo Nazis as they would with druglords and narco kingpins. In fact, they have!

''The point is ... Afghanistan’s bumper crop is NOT an accident. It’s a form of social control that fits with Washington’s broader strategic objectives of maintaining a permanent military presence in Central Asia and of opening up the country to resource extraction. The proliferation of drugs - helps to keep the “little people” in line so the adults can get on with the business of looting.''

This is NOT conjecture!!! There is MASSIVE amounts of proof for it!! These ^three links^ are the tip of the iceberg but still give a clear insight into wtf has been (& is) going on and we need root & branch change! For yet another deep and significant aspect of The Drugs Trade - also consider my reply to DKAt below!!

Imagine what living clean and healthy would do to the Evil Empire founded on vice and corruption... Now that would be a movement we could all do.

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

The Afghani Taliban used to destroy poppy crops when they were in power. Are you identifying yourself as an advocate of Sharia and a potential terrorist?

I can see why we the people shared something in common with Islam, our former prohibition of alcohol.

[-] 1 points by Shule (2638) 8 years ago

Are you suggesting our U.S. forces in Afghan should be protecting Drug Dealers?

If you know anything about herion and what it destroys, you know alcohol is nothing like that; there is no comparison.

I understand from aquantances who have been there who witnessed first hand that the Taliban are no sweethearts, but when it comes to serious drugs, one has to ask who is on the side of good, and who is on the side of evil.

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

The U.S. forces in Afghanistan are NOT protecting Drug Dealers. They are protecting Afghani farmers' livelihoods. It just so happens that opium poppies are great cash crops that grow there well in abundance. It's not easy to grow things at the rooftop ridge of Asia. Record production shows that Afghani livelihoods have probably improved due to the Peace on Poppies.

Just remember never let the Drug Enforcement Agency sniff too far up the trail of the opiates and find our troops. D.E.A. vs. U.S.M. must not happen - both are men's best friends and well-armed. Considering how well the feds could blind themselves to allow 9/11 to happen, this is well within the competency of the feds.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 8 years ago

No no no the USA is not protecting drug lords - the USA MIC is protecting the drug flow. Totally different proposition.

[-] 1 points by Shule (2638) 8 years ago

So you are suggesting our U.S. forces in Afghan should be protecting Drug Trafficers?

Need I get the DEA on the phone for this one?

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 8 years ago

Should be protecting drug traffickers? OH HELL NO!!!!!!!! But that does not mean that "that" is not what is going on! Iraq Afghanistan Syria Iran etc etc etc etc should all be growing food crops and they damn well could be IF "WE" the USA and other developed countries promoted real infrastructure "aid" to implement clean energy to support agriculture and all things relevant to healthy civilization.

[-] 1 points by Shule (2638) 8 years ago

Now that would be cool, but you know as well as I do that the USGovernment is not.

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Not true. The U.S. paid for hydroelectricity-generating/irrigation dam as aid to Afghanistan. The real problem is that there is little agriculture that can compete with the money-making potential of growing opium poppies. The U.S. had an on-again and off-again engagement with Afghanistan for decades, the inconsistency being problematic.

The U.S. was not looking to build an empire there (actually not really elsewhere either) but it had to get back to clean house when the Afghani Taliban harbored al-Qaeda terrorists.

[-] 3 points by Shule (2638) 8 years ago

I got this nice bridge in Brooklyn. For a few bucks you can have it.

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Trump loves to expand his estate empire. Sell the bridge to him to keep him busy with Mx. Cheese's headquarter and make me the President instead.

I have a better idea than his - If elected President, I will get Mexico and Canada to pay China to build the Great Walls of America. China is very experienced in building walls, such as the Great Wall, the Great Firewall, even entire islands out of reefs. This will provide monetary stimulus to China to prop it up so that it will not drag down the whole world. Novel situation requires novel ideas.

Our northern border with Canada is much longer and the Canadians are richer than the Mexicans so they can afford more walls, better if fashioned after the Maginot Line to protect against American attacks. Terrorists can come with poison gases from fracking so airlocks are must-haves!

To garner the electoral votes from the bigger-than-life first-amongst-equals Texass, I shall ask Mexico to pay for an iron chastity wall 16 cubits tall surrounding Texass to protect against Californica's shock troops. To capture the electoral votes of Californica, I offer mucho mucho senioritas from Virginia available pronto. I will then compensate Virginia with vino vino once my fermentation has been finished.

[-] 3 points by Viking (417) 8 years ago

"I will then compensate Virginia with vino vino once my fermentation has been finished." I never heard it put quite that way. ;-) You got my vote too!

Aloha!

No matter,

The cure for the American senioritis is here: Surf Senioritas in Mal-dives. Hang loose for V.

Aloha!

[-] 3 points by Shule (2638) 8 years ago

Vino vino for Virginia? Ok, you got my vote.

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Vote for Victory. Vote for Vino. Send the Cross to Virginia - I am who I am - vino for venal.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 8 years ago

No the USA government as well as the other developed countries are not = COOL. And that is exactly why the populations of every country in the world need to takeover government. Peace health and prosperity for all is not possible otherwise.

Now wouldn't that be a pretty picture?! However, in the meantime - consider:

Can't take much more of this matter & am retiring for NY excess! Happy/Revolutionary NY @ u+all.

''Terror, coupled with the illegal trade in narcotics, particularly heroin, is enabling the orchestration, and funding, of illegal warfare which serves the interests of an international oligarch class as it destroys humanity.

''Evidence demonstrates that the invasions of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria, as well as the war in Ukraine, were launched and prosecuted with a view to destroy each country through invasion, occupation, plunder, and to establish military footholds. The popular notion that the wars are being prosecuted for humanitarian purposes is absolutely ridiculous.

''Drug trafficking, stolen oil and artifacts are being used to finance the mass murder, and death squads, often under the cover of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) are being used to create a “civil war”, and to destroy President Assad’s government. The terror and mass murder are primarily orchestrated externally with a view to making Syria safe for Wahhabism, barbarity, and a NATO military presence.

''The whole process of death and destruction is not rational or moral, and the degeneracy is beyond evil. Commentators call it imperialism.''

The above is heavily abridged and excerpted from your excellent link and in compliment, re. perfidious US allies, see:

And if that is not enough, without doing to much research, one comes to find that the biggest drug dealers are the governments themselves.

Emphasizing their insanity - they keep it illegal and thereby reduce their overall profit. Though they do keep their slave labor prisons in full capacity operation.

Hhmmmmmmmmm

[-] 1 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

No, ''they keep it illegal'' TO INCREASE - ''their overall profit''; to covertly fund secret CIA ops; as a direct instrument of subversive US Foreign Policy to covertly destabilize unfriendly states & just like you allude to, to increase the occupancy rates/profits of The Prison/Incarceration Industrial Complex in the U$A!!! +

If Obama wants to address the police violence or mass incarceration he must address the marijuana laws without snickering.

[-] 1 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

Again ''The Big Lie in the War Against Drugs''! Excellent and essential viewing from Thom Hartmann:

Why are you still expecting anything at all from Obummer for The 99%, as opposed to his 1% & 0.01% backers, co-opters, friends & fiends?! Watch Thom Hartmann's excellent li'l video & tell me Obomber is going to change anything at all!! Ditto for HRC too btw!!! Now see if you can wrap your head around this:

fiat justitia ...

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

A simple statement of fact does not imply nor require an expectation. My expectation is that most people will continue to respond to their egos and do stupid shit. That doesn't keep me form pointing simple truths.

[-] 1 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

One of the ''simple truths'' that seems to perpetually evade your .. lesser of two evils fixated self - is the Equation of Corporate Donkey with Corporate Elephant & The Fact that Wall Street and The Banks and Corporations, pay for both!!! You insist that it is not a Equation but more of an Inequality and grasp onto to that, in order to rationalise your now near religious, positive view of The Dems & DNC!! So ask - what was/is OWS position on this Duopoly & just how is it ever to be broken or is that too egoic a question?!

temet nosce ...

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

everything for you is about electing the GOP they must pay you well

[-] 0 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

Hmmm, is it really?!!! Are you sure you aren't just projecting again?!! How about sticking to the OP?!

fiat lux et nosce te ipsum ...

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

and how exactly did your plug for electing the GOP above stick to the OP?

you are a tool of the 1% shadz, your diffused anger is exactly what the 1% want, targeted action against them by killing the GOP is the last thing they want Americans to realize how easy it would be how within our power it is to upset the entire applecart, but they have little fear people like you will move away from your ego and do something

[-] 2 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

IF you'd have the wit to see, you would (probably - but I can't guarantee it) - have seen that the first link above [ http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/34310-colorado-celebrates-legalization-anniversary-massive-drop-in-arrests-and-millions-in-tax-revenue ] - was TOTALLY ''sticking to the OP''!!! But of course, being the DNC-fixated dolt that you are; you would sooner try to harangue me with YOUR ''diffused anger'' for crimes against Duopoly, The DNC & your oh, so beloved HRC .. right?!! So can you even make a reply without referencing ''the GOP'' - because after 4 & a 1/2 years of OWS - the irony (if NOT hypocrisy) of that coming from a GOP-lite adickt .. really should have struck home by now! IF you're sure that you're done with any links pertinent to your OP, then feel free to try these for size - once again ...

Here is another piece from Thom Hartman where the point is made that Bernie will be the nominee, Thom also makes the point that it is vitally important the GOP not win even if the nominee is Hillary. Thom makes good sense.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JojdmhGQ2mQ

[-] 1 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

Maybe you don't think that US Duopoly should be broken. Maybe you are just another social-liberal but de facto political conservative. I don't know for sure and care even less, but it is a p-o-v that has existed on these threads since the inception of OWS but many here - past and present, oppose that ''co-option by convention'' vigorously. My own position re. 2016 POTUS contest - is to back Bernie & The 99% and seed for the future as Sanders is quite clearly extremely sound on almost all the critical US99% issues.

What ''is vitally important'', is that Democraps get their heads outta the asses of Bankers and Oligarchs! U/Thom Hartmann whistling for HRC is just more lesser-of-two-evils-ism that leads to more of the same!! The Bankers, Oligarchs, Plutocrats, Kleptocrats and Psychopathic Corporations - are counting on that!!!

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

Maybe you think Thom Hartman is an idiot, I know you are.

[-] 1 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

No! I like Thom Hartmann and I reference him often BUT I am not under the illusion that he is infallible or irreproachable!! Of course you like him because he can possibly consider voting for HRC ... because we all know just how much you are desperate to kiss her - sop ''healthcare for Americans'' ass.. don't we?!!!

Now I've got some serious fkn news for you buddy ... Hitlary Rancid Clinton IS one of those fkn ''jackals'' that you refer to!!! Get it - even IF you can't dig it?!! Now let's just see IF you can grow a pair & read this:

You can't make lasting changes for The 99% in U$A btw without addressing Neoliberal/Neocon Empire!

BUT it absolutely and most definitely can be done... IF The Level of 99% Consciousness can be raised!!

Democracy tends towards Socialism & that can be found in Christ & The US Constitution - IF you look!!!

et veritas vos liberabit ...

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

You are a GOP electing idiot, you never address any issue except your desperate grasp for power.

[-] 2 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

The GOP have nothing whatsoever to do with me!!! And only you, really know what you mean or are projecting re. ''grasp for power'' here!! However, on the matter of Thom Hartmann, try to consider this piece by Thom about a very important matter ...

multum in parvo ...

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

so you are pushing that Hillary supporter Thom Hartmann?

[-] 2 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

IF you think Thom Hartmann supports Hitlary Rotten Clinton (to whom you've been attached for a very long time!) OVER Bernie Sanders {who you only recently discovered!!} ... then you'd be Very Wrong!!!
