Is this meaningful? I recently expressed the opinion that Democrats have utilized the language of OWS to get elected and push certain legislation.
Although a fellow poster misunderstood and accused me of several statements I didn't make, in the end he did corroborate my harmless statement.

While OWS remains properly uninvolved with party politics, and direct campaigning, Do we care if our agenda is supported by politicians currently in power?
I liked Kucinich, (but he was redistricted out of office), Grayson is excellent, and Warren shows great promise in her stated positions on wall st. Of course Sanders has always been great, and other politicians who are members of the progressive caucus.
I suppose I still believe we must get money out of politics and retire all anti 99% politicians from both corrupted parties.
I suggest we consider who supports the change we are fighting for. Let's identify any other Kucinichs/graysons/Sanders who might be amongst this corp bought congress.
So that when and if we implement a new system we might have a good idea of who can be trusted.

Politicians will listen to the money but follow whoever delivers the votes. It isn't their support you need. You need the active educated support of a majority. With that you'll have the politicians changing things to keep those votes.
Perhaps then there is hope that if we can get enough voters to threaten reelection we can force change that helps the 99%.
You can always hope. The reason big money can dictate policy is that most voters don't bother to stay informed in the first place. You need to get their attention and somehow keep them engaged in the political process.

Should we just forget them, and work on a new system?
Should we work on changing campaign/election laws to make 3rd party access fair, Should we work on money out of politics.

I like the verification aspect. We can accomplish that by printing your vote with a unique PIN, that you can verify online perhaps.

We are doomed. We will not be able to rally the masses to avoid a meltdown. I do not think OWS, or the Tea Party, or the Repubs or Dems will be able to stop the inevitable collapse. We just can’t get our shit together.

Kucinich did support public option (Like many dems) it was republicans that forced a compromise on that issue. Kucinich got none of his best ideas passed but he supported and vote 90% of the time with democrats so I think we should trust him and support what he did.
Kucinich was the only person to put up public option. It was abandoned after Obama took office. And no one in the democrat majority congress helped Kucinich, or even tried to make it public knowledge, that the public option was being attempted by Kucinich.

10 Indications The United States Is A Dictatorship

An in-depth review of the current role of the US Government in domestic and international affairs reveals the US has indeed become a totalitarian democracy.

For a people to be free, they must first be honest with themselves, their government, and the world at large. History is filled with stories of free nations that fell under the spell cast by their governments who exploited the threat of terror.
In fact, numerous presidents in American history already have used various specific threats to sidestep their Constitutional restraints. Today we are entering a nebulous world where our “enemy” cannot be defined, has no particular allegiance to one country, and is able to adopt new leaders at will. Rather than encourage a sense of resilience and independence in its citizens, America has chosen to amplify the terror threat in order to concentrate power in the hands of the State. The very first signpost on this historically familiar road to tyranny is an atmosphere of hate, suspicion, and vindictiveness. It first begins as an outwardly directed aggression and then rather abruptly turns inward upon itself.
The good news is that freedom is won and lost in our hearts and minds. It is for this reason that we must state the obvious: we have clearly passed through the first “atmospheric” stage of approaching dictatorship, and have now entered the second — the open behavior of a dictatorship in the United States.
1. War Mongering Under The Facade Of American Liberty
2. Crushing peaceful protest (OWS): Despite the current mission to defend protesters living in dictatorships overseas, when George Bush brought “free speech zones” to America it effectively spelled the end of peaceful, lawful street protest. Now the full force of brutality and surveillance has been unleashed upon the very people intent in stopping it through peaceful means. It is as sure a sign as any about totalitarian intentions, when anti-war activists have become one of the targets. The activist is beginning to equal terrorist in the all-seeing eye of the State, and any street gathering is a sure sign to let loose all of the riot weapons that were formerly used against insurgents on foreign battlefields. One look at the G20 protest in Pittsburgh, a recent Illinois University event, and the ongoing travesty of the torture and incarceration of Bradley Manning, and we can begin to see through the propaganda of White House officials when they talk about terrible dictators in other nations crushing dissent.
3. Checkpoints: The slow acclimation of the populace to military-style checkpoints began first as border control operations up to 100 miles inland in what the ACLU calls the Constitution Free Zone. However, this has rather quickly morphed into local traffic stops across the country for “unsavory” characters such as those targeted by the Amber Alert system and DUI checkpoints. Though apparently well meaning, we are now far beyond even loosely suspected criminal activity, as VIPR teams have been introduced to take over public transportation and events. The TSA tyranny has hit the streets of America, now forming a de facto internal passport system straight out of the totalitarian playbook. The expanding checkpoint system dovetails with new initiatives such as the No Ride List proposal of Chuck Shumer, building upon the No Fly List already in place. These no-travel lists are extrajudicial, secret, and form a guilty-until-proven innocent framework that subverts freedom instead of protecting it. Incidentally, this element of constant suspicion is exactly what leads to a citizen spy network.

4. Citizen spy network: Dictatorships know how difficult it is to rule over large populations with only the relatively small numbers of military and police. Despite the lessons of terror created by citizen surveillance that the East German Stasi files left us to examine, just such a network has been openly introduced to present-day America — and now it’s even more high-tech and populated. Secret black budget projects organized through the NSA like Perfect Citizen is just one among many. Our head of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano — in partnership with retailer Wal-Mart – kicked off the See Something, Say Something program, which goes beyond the already high-tech surveillance apparatus of the NSA and turns each of us into an unpaid employee of the police state. Similarly, the web of cameras and data mining is far too massive for even the well-funded NSA, but with gadgets at our disposal we can now download apps to enable spying on our neighbors. Most dangerous of all, though, is new legislation introduced by Peter King that enshrines Janet Napolitano’s program and would provide immunity for accusers “acting in good faith” while reporting suspicious activities. This is guaranteed to lead to false arrests and disappearances, just as it has on every occasion throughout history when a society’s fear becomes self-directed.
5. Executive Orders: This is means by which a dictator can come to power in the United States, despite a framework of checks and balances. Any time a country has centralized its power to the executive branch by erasing the checks and balances of separate legislative and judicial bodies, the result has been dictatorship. And this normally happens when national security is “threatened.” The Constitution is clear, however: only the legislature (Congress) can make laws. Yet, the use of Executive Orders has increased, beginning with President Clinton who came under fire for his abuse of this power, becoming one of only two presidents (the other was Truman’s E.O. 12954) to have an Executive Order struck down by the courts. His successors seem only to have been encouraged. Clinton issued 14, George W. issued over 60, and Obama is at 26 with many more to be expected if he wins a second term. Among the most egregious of Obama’s orders is the ability to hold detainees indefinitely even after a court has found them not guilty. Executive Orders also form the basis for control over regulatory agencies, which then impose the directives. While it seems multi-layered with potential checks and balances, all directives can now be issued top-down in dictatorial fashion.

6. Control of regulatory agencies: This is the more insidious and, ultimately, dangerous tactic used by dictatorships. Dictatorship through regulation invades every facet of society without relying only upon overt violence. As mentioned above, only the legislature can make laws. However, the legislature has created “regulatory bodies” which make de facto laws through “violations” that rob us of freedom. There is no clearer example at the moment than the FDA, which has brought in near-total food control. The FDA is working in concert with a global agenda being foisted upon us through the Codex Alimentarius commission in Europe which essentially renders anything healthy as toxic, and all that is toxic as healthy. Regulatory agencies in the United States have engendered a system where the corporate-government revolving door leads to corruption and consolidation — not free markets. The current regulations are opposed to the principles of freedom and independence, and favor only those in positions to make money from more control; so more control and less freedom is what we can expect under these federal directives controlling the states.

7. President declares war unilaterally: Despite the parade of lies that led to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, it pales in comparison with the new war in Libya and other interventions and sanctions throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Through Executive Orders, outlined above, the President can declare war so long as there is a resolution passed by Congress. This has been dispensed with through Obama’s illegal wars, and it appears that Congress could go even further by ceding its power completely to the president. The disregard for Congressional approval is already dictatorial, but if this last step is taken we will effectively be living in a permanent state of war tantamount to WWIII that will be controlled at the sole discretion of the current and future presidents. This unilateral power to drag nations into war without checks and balances is a hallmark of dictatorships where entire countries are swept along purely by the ideology of their leader. As Ron Paul and Lew Rockwell have stated, “We have a dictatorship when it comes to foreign policy.” With the latest development, it is actually a dictatorship when it comes to domestic policy as well, since America’s espionage network has turned inward, and this new presidential power would not be limited to overseas actions.

8. Torture: Torture has long been a tactic used by America. In fact it runs the leading school on its methods. The School of the Americas (now called WHINSEC) has been responsible for training Latin American dictators and their thugs on how to intimidate the local population and rule with an iron fist. However, the torture debate has hit mainstream media in a serious discussion about its effectiveness, especially following the assassination of Osama bin Laden. Aside from the despicable morals involved, torture doesn’t work for intelligence gathering, according to experts. Furthermore, the legalization of torture was what really brought the dreaded Russian secret police out into the open. When such a declaration is made, it is literally a recruiting strategy to find the criminals and sadists who would love to be part of such a system. Torture is not normal work for normal people; it is the work of psychopaths such as Dick Cheney who loves the tactic of waterboarding so much that he has stated it should be brought back and used more widely. No nation that uses torture to obtain confessions can be called legitimate. It is only used as a tool of intimidation and oppression by totalitarian regimes.
9. Forced labor camps (gulags): This is when we know that a totalitarian society has arrived in full and our society is run completely by coercion. As Naomi Wolf has illustrated, “With its jails in Iraq and Afghanistan, and, of course, Guantánamo in Cuba, where detainees are abused, and kept indefinitely without trial and without access to the due process of the law, America certainly has its gulag now.” Additionally, a silent gulag has already been created inside America, starting with the nation’s prisoners who are increasingly locked up within a for-profit prison-industrial system that makes money both on the construction of prisons as well as the cheap labor force. The Defense Department itself pays prisoners 23 cents per hour to build its weapons systems, which is clearly a type of slave labor. One might immediately argue that there is a huge difference between real prisoners and innocent people swept off the streets as they were in Stalinist Russia, for example, or in modern day North Korea and China. That is to presume, however, that everyone in prison is guilty; and, if they are, that the crimes which have sent them there really constitute offenses worthy of prison sentences. America has the world’s largest prison population and the highest incarceration rate precisely because nearly everything is a jail-time crime, and there is money to be made by the growing corporate prison system. The War on Drugs alone has led to a disproportionate number of inmates for non-violent offenses among the already 2.4 million in jail and the 5 million on probation. With the economy imploding, even debtors prisons have made a comeback. Although FEMA camps are still relegated to fringe conspiracy theory, we should be wary of the potential endgame for such a proven system of oppression. Through Continuity of Government, national emergency directives would openly suspend the Constitution and could possibly lead once again to internment camps in America.
Government Control Of The Media And Censorship Of The Internet
10. Control over all communications (propaganda): Once the physical framework of dictatorial control has been set up, then the justification for its continued presence can commence. The type of high-tech control grid now put into place in The United States to this point has only been explored in works of fiction such as 1984, which has led Paul Craig Roberts to draw a correct parallel. A public emergency announcement system has in fact been in place since the ’50s, whereby the president can interrupt television and radio to deliver critical messages. However, this has been recently expanded even beyond the Telecommunications Act of 1996 as the FCC voted to mandate (PDF) “the first-ever Presidential alert to be aired across the United States on the Nation’s Emergency Alert System (EAS).” Now, with the arrival of the trackable smartphone that can be hijacked to bring government messages (emergency or not) we find ourselves “willing” participants in a scenario reaching far beyond 1984. Using the bin Laden assassination and the threat of guaranteed reprisal, the government has announced that the president will break into these private networks to carry PLAN government messages and warnings; and there is no opt-out. This is slated to go even further, as Infowars has reported: “All smart devices have federally-mandated control and kill switches added. This will give the government total control over incoming information to all smart phones regardless of manufacturer. These policies dovetail with the roll out of Smart Meters and the new Google controlled smart homes which will send messages over the power-lines to your appliances to control power consumption or simply cut the power. In addition, new ‘green’ lighting systems are being installed in government buildings which send and receive data through controlled pulses of light. And now the Pentagon wants the authority to run it all.” At the same time, we have seen the buildup in rhetoric leading toward Internet control. As always, an unsavory element of society (pirating) has been used as one of the pretexts to introduce government control over private industry, while cybersecurity lays claim to total control over the infrastructure for national emergencies. Ideologically, Obama advisor, Cass Sunstein, has proposed a fairness doctrine for the Internet that would enable a government overlay on private websites that would offer counter opinions to anti-establishment content. We are approaching a situation worse than China, where both mental intrusion via propaganda and physical intrusion via systems control are merging. It is not comforting to know, also, that the president made a shocking claim recently that he can censor unclassified documents. There is clearly a concerted effort to take over all forms of information, permitting the government to alter it or censor it before consumption by its citizens. In any other country we would call this a dictatorship.
It would appear that the United States should be a called a dictatorship based on the above criteria. Once the atmosphere is established, average participants need not be part of a conspiracy, as they tend to unquestioningly go with the flow. However, we must acknowledge that the U.S. is in a vastly different position than totalitarian regimes of the past, as well as her contemporaries. America has a history that is built upon the foundation of resistance to dictators. This memory needs to be invoked by following the protections outlined in our founding documents, particularly the power of the states to resist Federal tyranny. The protections therein can be restored once we have the courage to admit how much freedom we have lost, then refuse to succumb to a fear-based perception of reality. Only then will Liberty, Love and Peace prevail!
Yes Victory is what WE already have so Peace does prevail. This is a long list of what America does not look like. My stand is that every aspect of the situations we face have a common denominator and it is the so-called capitol though it is not our country. It was created to escape paying the first soldiers upon returning from war they marched to what the capitol was before this place and thus creating and transferring operations.This so-called fed will keep on eating us up and we shall not let it eat up freedon and all that this country stands for. What I do know is that it will be. When things are messed up and all of them have one link in common it is automatically the root. When this many things have in common one thing it is far from accidental and need not be figured out or went over and over with non possibility and details. Can anyone tell me why it is not so! I mean actually provide a real thing that is responsible for this nightmare. There are no parties when serving elected position. It is unamerican to even have what you belong to inside the process of law making and the peoples will. And who says that they were even elected with crooked process. The process is also the way beyond it. The people will be happy to know that they are not stupid as they think they must be. Here is the common denominator from the People WE want out of war! Obama showed you can raise funds without corporate support. So you can create a party that is independent and self-sufficient.
But the agenda is the key to differentiate yourself enough to give credibility that you will CHANGE, not just say you will. But then you have to deal with the military industrial complex that took Obama to task when he called for criminal prosecution of torturers in the CIA.
Notice how he stopped doing that? Know why he stopped? The CIA gave him his official JKF wake-up call, and after that, he has been towing Brennen's line with drone strikes, extrajudicial killings of US citizens, appointing Clinton and now Kerry (both Yale Bonesmen), and all things Nazi just as if he had attended Yale and joined the Order of Skull and Bones along with the Bushes, Clintons, Kerry, and all the other. A late-bloomer.

The CIA has LOTS of money and they use it to bribe and buy off judges, media, politicians, anyone and everyone they need to get their agenda. Wow. I gotta be honest that was a little too long. A bit rambling, but I appreciate your passion. I can't say agree entirely, because I can't say I understand entirely. I'm not much for conspiracies and have little patience for the whole nazi thing. But if you want to respond with a brief concise comment I will try to discuss.
I would love it to be a conspiracy, but it is all documented fact.
It is simple. We had Nazis already on-board in the US before the end of WWII. In fact the head of the OSS was one. They hand-picked the cream of the crop and integrated 1800+ into our military-intel-industrial complex to develop the 4th Reich - a global campaign to control the world through control of Space (the brainchild of Werner Van Braun, SS officer and war criminal and 1st director of NASA). That has been developing unchecked since WWII in the US. Outside the USA they expanded through Operation Gladio by creating various puppet dictators, right wing extremists groups and so on.
Because of this we have not had a legitimate war since WWII. If you do not remove them from US Intel you will never be able to control the US govt and get the US back on track.
The US is torturing people. Who does that? Nazis do that. Who implemented it? George W Bush. Who is he? I am well aware of the german scientists we brought over for their rocket knowledge. It's important to understand the roots of our problems, and history, I think it is then upon us to change our current situation.

It is a good start that everyone agrees we have holes in our ship, and I agree that we need to bail the water out that is filling up our hull and sinking us. Putting an end to torture, extrajudicial killing of Americans and non-combatants (civilian casualties were 90% in Iraq vs 10% in WWI) is a good move. Of course, no one can argue that this is the total solution.
The total solution involves also going down into the root cause of the problem and repairing the holes that continue to produce water. Otherwise, our bailing efforts will never end, as I am sure you will agree. Repairing those holes means cleaning-up US intel, military and defense industry of any and all remnants of Nazis.
Believe me, they are there, and all the signs and symptoms are there to prove it. Without this resolve, we are not going to get anywhere fast in terms of a sustainable long term solution. This is brain surgery on the US, and the only power left that hasn't been controlled is the power of the American people (the last bastion of freedom, democracy and only hope remaining for America and the world).
It is the only power that can crush the Nazis at this point. Otherwise, in terms of executive and legislative, they have us in check-mate. Judicial without executive is not much of an issue with executive orders, extrajudicial killings, etc. They are successfully maneuvering around SCOTUS.
There is a thief in your house who is raiding your refrigerator and breaking lamps. You can scream and shout and they will hear you and cool off on the midnight snacks and wild parties while you are away at work, but as long as you allow them to remain there, you are going to be facing problems a long way into the future.

George Bush, Skull & Bones and the JFK Assassination
Rodney Stich’s book "Defrauding America" tells of a "deep-cover CIA officer" assigned to a counter-intelligence unit, code-named Pegasus. This unit "had tape-recordings of plans to assassinate Kennedy" from a tap on the phone of J. Edgar Hoover. The people on the tapes were "[Nelson] Rockefeller, Allen Dulles, [Lyndon] Johnson of Texas, George Bush and J. Edgar Hoover."
Could George Bush be involved in the JFK assassination?
In 1963, Bush was living in Houston, busily carrying out his duties as president of the Zapata Offshore oil company. He denied the existence of a note sent by the FBI’s J. Edgar Hoover to "Mr. George Bush of the CIA." When news of the note surfaced, the CIA first said they never commented on employment questions, but later relented said yes, a "George Bush" was mentioned in the note, but that it was "another" George Bush, not the man who took office in the White House in 1988.
Some intrepid reporters tracked down the "other" George Bush and discovered that he was just a lowly clerk who had shuffled papers for the CIA for about six months. He never received any interagency messages from anybody at the FBI, let alone the Queen Mary.
It is also worth noting that a CIA code word for Bay of Pigs was Operation Zapata, and that two of the support vessels were named Barbara and Houston.
Many say that George Bush was high up on the CIA ladder at the time, running proprietorial vehicles and placed in a position of command, responsible for many of the Cubans recruited into "service" at the time. All through the Iran-Contra affair, Felix Rodriguez, the man who captured and had Che Guevara killed for the CIA, always seemed to call Bush’s office first.
From The Realist (Summer, 1991): "Bush was working with the now-famous CIA agent, Felix Rodriguez, recruiting right-wing Cuban exiles for the invasion of Cuba. It was Bush’s CIA job to organize the Cuban community in Miami for the invasion.... A newly discovered FBI document reveals that George Bush was directly involved in the 1963 murder of President John Kennedy. The document places marksmen by the CIA. Bush at that time lived in Texas. Hopping from Houston to Miami weekly, Bush spent 1960 and ’61 recruiting Cubans in Miami for the invasion....
"George Bush claims he never worked for the CIA until he was appointed Director by former Warren Commission director and then president Jerry Ford in 1976. Logic suggests that is highly unlikely. Of course, Bush has a company duty to deny being in the CIA. The CIA is a secret organization. No one ever admits to being a member. The truth is that Bush has been a top CIA official since before the 1961 invasion of Cuba, working with Felix Rodriguez. Bush may deny his actual role in the CIA in 1959, but there are records in the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba that expose Bush’s role..." On the Watergate tapes, June 23, 1972, referred to in the media as the ’smoking gun’ conversation, Nixon and his Chief of Staff, H.R. Haldeman, were discussing how to stop the FBI investigation into the CIA Watergate burglary. They were worried that the investigation would expose their connection to ’the Bay of Pigs thing.’ Haldeman, in his book "The Ends of Power", reveals that Nixon always used code words when talking about the 1963 murder of JFK. Haldeman said Nixon would always refer to the assassination as ’the Bay of Pigs’.
On that transcript we find Nixon discussing the role of George Bush’s partner, Robert Mosbacher, as one of the Texas fundraisers for Nixon. On the tapes Nixon keeps referring to the ’Cubans’ and the ’Texans.’ The ’Texans’ were Bush, Mosbacher and Baker. This is another direct link between Bush and evidence linking Nixon and Bush to the Kennedy assassination."

It is time to wake up and take back America, but in many ways we never really had America. These guys have always had it from almost day one. In many ways they founded America.
Basically, America became the way it is to create a governing system that these elite rich guys could control and manipulate with money. America is "buyable" with large amounts of money precisely because we don't have a king. A king could not be bought. A salaried member of Congress, yes. A judge, yes. A president, yes. A general, yes. Everyone else, yes. But a king, no.
It was set up as a de facto oligarchy from the get-go in the name of democracy, but really owned by big money. The electoral college trick shows they had no real intention of delivering real democratic powers. Only enough to make a show and befool the masses. What you see is a group of pirate drug smugglers who wanted this place for their own and didn't want to share the spoils of their adventures in China (selling the crack of those days) with European powers. So they formed secret societies to consolidate and pass on their power and profits through their families. That is what America always has been. Nothing more or less. The German influence quickly came and took over as you can see.
This is why no one has really been able to do anything till now. The secrecy has hidden all this. Without the Internet you also wouldn't know.

Skull & Bones Society
"America’s Secret Establishment", by Antony C. Sutton, 1986, page 5-6, states: "Those on the inside know it as The Order. Others have known it for more than 150 years as Chapter 322 of a German secret society. More formally, for legal purposes, The Order was incorporated as The Russell Trust in 1856. It was also once known as the "Brotherhood of Death". Those who make light of it, or want to make fun of it, call it ’Skull & Bones’, or just plain ’Bones’.
The American chapter of this German order was founded in 1833 at Yale University by General William Huntington Russell and Alphonso Taft who, in 1876, became Secretary of War in the Grant Administration. Alphonso Taft was the father of William Howard Taft, the only man to be both President and Chief Justice of the United States.
The order is not just another Greek letter fraternal society with passwords and handgrips common to most campuses. Chapter 322 is a secret society whose members are sworn to silence. It only exists on the Yale campus (that we know about). It has rules. It has ceremonial rites. It is not at all happy with prying, probing citizens - known among initiates as ’outsiders’ or ’vandals’. Its members always deny membership (or are supposed to deny membership) and in checking hundreds of autobiographical listings for members we found only half a dozen who cited an affiliation with Skull & Bones. The rest were silent. An interesting point is whether the many members in various Administrations or who hold government positions have declared their members in the biographical data supplied for FBI ’background checks’.
Above all, The Order is powerful, unbelievably powerful. If the reader will persist and examine the evidence to be presented - which is overwhelming - there is no doubt his view of the world will suddenly come sharply into focus, with almost frightening clarity.
It is a Senior year society which exists only at Yale. Members are chosen in their Junior year and spend only one year on campus, the Senior year, with Skull & Bones. In other words, the organization is oriented to the graduate outside world. The Order meets annually - patriarchies only - on Deer Island in the St. Lawrence River.
Senior societies are unique to Yale. There are two other senior societies at Yale, but none elsewhere. Scroll & Key and Wolf’s Head are supposedly competitive societies founded in the mid-19th century. We believe these to be part of the same network. Rosenbaum commented in his "Esquire" article, very accurately, that anyone in the Eastern Liberal Establishment who is not a member of Skull & Bones is almost certainly a member of either Scroll & Key or Wolf’s Head. .. The selection procedure for new members of The Order has not changed since 1832. Each year 15, and only 15, never fewer, are selected. In the past 150 years about 2500 Yale graduates have been initiated into The Order. At any time about 500-600 are alive and active. Roughly about one- quarter of these take an active role in furthering the objectives of The Order. The others either lose interest or change their minds. They are silent dropouts.
