Sad republican state leadership, what the hell happened?

That is what not valuing science will take you, called cause and effect.

weak environmental oversight caused Flint crisis

government needs to be transparent

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Cons' creed is, "With malice towards some, with charity for none!"

Government needs to BE governed. (Flint has nearly 100,000 residents, why was this water issue delayed so much? Apathy, in-sourcing snafu, or malice?)

money games

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Also $&£% games. The billionaires behind the superPACs really need to stoop down to the eye levels of our children to gain their novel perspectives on the result of eating foot-long hot dogs and the conservation of $&£%. Mega-Wiener was apparently an ineffable delight. The second cumin of flush has its consequences.

You mean its not up to the people of Flint to take care of their water? Its some political body in some other city?

Exactly the problem right there my friend. Return the power to the people and bullshit like this becomes much less likely.

[-] 3 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

people are told when to work and what to do

they are expected not to question the infra structure

[-] 3 points by turbocharger (1756) 8 years ago

Exactly. Don't question anything, everything is taken care of for you by the state.

If we didn't rely on government to fix every fuckin issue in our life we could focus on the basics, the roads, the waterways, etc. Libraries closing all over. Because clearly, who needs libraries!!

WTF are we doing to ourselves!!

[-] 3 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Libraries may encourage the unwashed masses to read, gasp! Not a Retardican priority - saving money is. Retardicans are very CHEAP!

Rule 4. All chloride (Cl-), bromide (Br-), and iodide (I-) salts are soluble except for those of Ag+, Pb2+, and Hg2 2+.

Elevated levels of chlorine may have already been tried to "fix" the Pb2+ (Plumb) poisoning problem.

Be skeptical. Conspiracies, though rare, do exist. Trust AND verify. Consume defensively (duck/platypus theory applies).

turn some libraries into medical centers

people still need internet access

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Why medical centers?

My idea is: Create e-books from existing library books. Move existing books into temperature-and humidity-controlled storage, maybe in a desert-like part of the greenhouse to be created. Put e-books onto servers with internet remote access. Have the servers' waste heat and perhaps carbon dioxide from gas exhaust of electricity generation fed into the rows of former bookshelves, put in LED lights, and grow indoor hydroponic plants to make groceries for sale, essentially converting the library into a greenhouse, indoor farm, garden, grocery store, with e-book access next door in an atrium perhaps. Reading, eating, lounging, and socializing, can all be done in there.

Turn the roof into a gigantic rainwater collector like a big funnel and collect water into cistern in the basement near the backyard water-overflow outdoor garden. Add a fish pond and recycle their wastes to fertilize the garden. Sell the fish to augment the grocery store's offerings. Offer foods for the souls and foods for the bodies.

I would be most likely to visit a medical center

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Do the requirements for a medical center fit better than a community garden/library/food court to a closing Walmart or postal office? Most communities have an existing neighborhood hospital so you're thinking about a walk-in neighborhood medical center, correct?

Without universal single-payer health insurance, there will still be significant delays and high costs associated with collecting the insurance money and getting hold of health records. A medical center may be an idea whose time has come because the coming lead poisoning symptoms may be monitored better in the community.

As you've said, retaining some libraries for internet access is important. I very much agree because the internet created the greatest library ever in the world. Wikipedia alone exceeded the Roman Empire's attempt to compile their time's knowledge into an encyclopedia. We need to teach more people better critical thinking skills, as anyone can change wikipedia, and some bad actors have caught onto the advantage of spewing propaganda. It also makes sense to drop in some digital-natives as paratroopers, perhaps as summer student interns, to teach the retiring elders (to hang-out, e-chat, google, online-shop, twitter, instagram, etc.) who can in turn help out others as needed.

[-] 2 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

most bad propaganda does not come from wiki which anyone can correct

unlike news releases that the people cannot comment on

[-] 1 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Absolutely! Wikipedia can be off occasionally but it is often a treasure trove of references. It's much harder for propagandists to create a huge long list of references to corroborate the propaganda.

News releases that people cannot comment on are rather worthless in trustworthiness. They are much better for knowing what goods the propagandists are trying to push so going in the exact opposite direction has better chance of getting to the truth. Yes, I have not encountered many advertisements that have comment sections not closely policed.

Free speech is great! People speak of how money talks and $&£% walks. I especially like the balls of wisdom from the novel perspectives of our children. For example, "Flush once, not twice!"

How the fracck can this happen with all our technology in the modern age? ..... From 2011 to 2015, Snyder appointed several individuals as Emergency Managers for Flint, Michigan. In 2014, emergency manager Darnell Earley was responsible for changing the source of drinking water for the city to the Flint River, which has trihalomethanes (TTHM) in it.[80] It was later discovered that the water was too corrosive, and leached lead out of the service lines that was then ingested by the people of the city.[81][82] In September 2015, a study by the Hurley Medical Center found that the community's children were being poisoned by the lead.[83] While Flint transitioned back to its prior source of water in October 2015,[84] lead levels in the city's water remain above the federal action level.[85][86] Amid allegations that the Michigan Health Department was stalling water treatment expert Marc Edwards' effort to obtain public records, journalists have asked when the State of Michigan knew about the lead poisoning.[87] A petition from a Flint pastor to recall Snyder was denied by the Board of State Canvassers.[88] Filmmaker and Flint native Michael Moore has called for Snyder's arrest on charges of corruption and assault, and has started a petition on his website.[89][90]

The so-called followers of Christ took to heart Jesus's saying, "The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them anytime you want." - Mark 14:7. They therefore have their perma-eclipse of their hearts, to follow Jesus's example. They say, "Let the opposition help the poor, not I!" so there goes a Retardican with values, who will clamor for tax cuts and more protection for their earthly possessions.

They missed the fundamental point that the poor may well be permanent but poverty needs not be, due to dynamic equilibrium.

[-] 2 points by grapes (5232) 8 years ago

Poverty pollutes, regardless of the technological level of the society.

Nah no mind-reading - we're talking GOP homicidal assholes - you had to have been torn about whether or not to add that in the original post.
