Want to create a school for kids that will allow them to actually learn, with creativity and actual challenges, not this mindless nonsense that goes on now- gov wont let us.

Wanted to create a network of out of work construction workers, who could be hired on a freelance basis by homeowners- gov wont let us.

Want to create a third party for the people to feel like their vote counts for something again- gov wont let us.

Have a friend whose quite the engineer. Want to try his new energy solutions out on my house- gov wont let me.

This goes on and on. Not saying that it is 100% impossible, but when you look at the amount of regulations, fees and permits, time with it all, unneeded start up nonsense.....It is impossible. I dont have the amount of money, 10's of thousands for some of it, to get the governments permission.

Im a normal person, a good hard working person, and the Gov will NOT let me do something outside their preffered box. That is not freedom.

Read the Rules

There ARE regulations written by and for big money interests. It would be silly to assume this part of our government is untouched by corruption. Getting big money out of politics is the first step to solving your problem, as well as mine.

We all come to the table for different reasons, but we all need the same thing first - a fairer government.

to true. i read some of you other materials and i get why you wanted to fight with me. please don't label me with the deeds and perceptions of others. role reversal is just another form of inequity.

How about the gov deciding that its illegal for me to put in new windows, unless I pay them to ask for their permission.

Someone tell me thats not corrupt?!

Just found out today that if I want to help a friend rent out an apartment for him, its a felony unless I go through all the hoopla.

Another example of me trying to help someone and the gov not letting me.

Im not talking about financial regulation here. There is too much regulation in that field too, but there is that one piece that is missing- Glass Steagal

REinstate that, remove 50% of the other garbage, and we would be in mission accomplished land.

I have a small business (currently sole proprietor) and I know what you mean. This reminded me of a column written over ten years ago by Michael Kinsley, not exactly a right wing extremist:

"The government makes it comically difficult for the honest citizen to hire a single employee -- and makes it virtually impossible to do it correctly....Hiring a full-time business employee plunges you into an entirely new dimension of complexity. By my count (which undoubtedly is wrong), it takes a minimum of 37 different forms and 50 separate checks to hire a single employee for a year, even if she graciously agrees to be paid only once a month...

"As a liberal, I am chagrined by this experience. The total burden of all the different taxes actually seems reasonable (if, that is, I have the amounts even approximately correct). But the complications involved in trying to pay them honestly are a disgrace...President Clinton can count on one fewer job when the stats come out for 1994. My assistant is moving on, and I'm retiring the position. Having an assistant simply takes too much time."

I don't think things have gotten any better since then. This column stays fresh in my mind because every time I think about hiring an assistant (which would be nice to have in my business) I re-read it and put the idea aside.

Ending all regulation is not the answer. Ending banking regulation is what got us here.

Ending the EPA is just a stupid idea.

What we need are regs that work.

I never said to end it all. Im saying that in many regards, we have gone overboard.

This is NOT a post saying end all Regs- Im not a nut. This is a post that says we have gone overboard with them. The amount of BS I have to go through to hire someone to give me a hand is incredible. It honestly makes me not expand things.

Im not saying end them all, Im just saying the people we currently have writing them are doing more harm than good. They cater to the big guys, screw all of us.

guns
well everyone should be required to carry one
BANKS
the bankers did not cause the problems, it was the lemmings who believed them
