I got laid off twice in two years, ended up working at gas station as a part time cashier, used to be an accounting manager :(
I used to be a designer at a start-up (you can still buy the products I made at national chain stores)... Then I got forced out by backstabbing board members in a power struggle and didn't make a penny for over a year after, relying completely on my savings. I did not apply for unemployment because I did it before and it was awful.
I feel sorry for your story, really miss the good old days.
