racism exists

people are prosecuted and oppressed based on race

that oppression and prosecution is wrong regardless of race

[-] 1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

YES! Racism Is Alive and Well!

But Cons want to deny it: http://www.nbcnews.com/video/meet-the-press/52786139#52786139

[-] 0 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

and we want to talk about cons denying it

Oklahoma!

We want to necklace the 1%-GOP with their indifference, greed, treachery, hypocrisy, fraud and racism.

[-] -1 points by Narley (272) 11 years ago

I would go even further. There seems to be a resurgence of racism. And it's not just Whites toward Blacks this time. This time around it's race and culture. I mean the Muslims hate the Jews, the Mexicans hate the Blacks, the Whites hate anyone who isn't White, and the list goes on. Seems to me it's worse than it's been in my lifetime, and I'm old enough to remember segregation and Whites only drinking fountains.

The different races and cultures aren't assimilating. They are mostly living in their own neighborhoods and culture, separate from other peoples. While most people aren't outwardly racist. I think there is a mistrust of others not like them.

The schools in Arkansas were segregated in 1954. The civil right act was signed in 1964 and dozens of laws have been passed at the federal and State level to create an “equal under the law” environment. It seemed to me this was working for a decade or so. But now I look around and see that much hasn’t changed since the 1964 civil rights act. Racism simply went underground. Now it seems racism is as bad as I’ve ever seen it. It’s just not talked about in polite company.

I really have to ask myself if racism can be resolved. Can different races and cultures actually live together with mutual respect. Alas, I just not sure anymore.

[-] 1 points by summerbummer (-33) 11 years ago

narley, I too see a resurgence in racial tensions that I haven't seen since a child. It seems to me it's the left making race and issue where it isn't to keep their base fired up. Just more divide and conquer politics. It's tiresome to be called a racist because I think PeacePrize is a horrible prez. I don't remember race being an issue with all the rabid Bush haters. Why is that? Rich v poor doesn't work as well because it unites all races on both ends of the social spectrum. We really need to unite on basic issues that cross the left/right lines... money in politics cronyism/corporatism nsa spying police militarization

we are losing our freedoms and ability to effect changes thru the political process since the rich own dc

all this republicans are racist nonsense on this site is not furthering any real social change and hindering the ability of the many to work together

[-] 1 points by Narley (272) 11 years ago

You make a good point. For instance, I'm politically liberal, but a lot of my friends are staunch conservative. We can discuss almost any issue without calling each other names and throwing insults around. I know we can solve our problems. My friends and I do it at least once a week down at the coffee shop.

So if a bunch of old geezers with highly diverse opinions on how the US can be fixed can come up with solutions then why can't the government?

[-] 1 points by summerbummer (-33) 11 years ago

LOL!! As another old geezerette, we used to solve all the world's probs over beers on Fridays

"Beverly McGuire saw the warning signs before the town well went dry: sand in the toilet bowl, the sputter of air in the tap, a pump working overtime to no effect. But it still did not prepare her for the night in June when she turned on the tap and discovered the tiny town where she had made her home for 35 years was out of water."

[-] -1 points by Narley (272) 11 years ago

Aw jeez shooz, maybe the drought is racist?

Texas is in a drought. But it will eventually pass. On the other hand Detroit is a crime ridden slum. And that won't pass.

[-] 0 points by summerbummer (-33) 11 years ago

And talking about this nonstop furthers OWS goals how?

You would do well to read some of the quotes by Dems in this thread. Not that it matters. I refuse to keep having everything discussed here be forced through a left/right filter. As I told GF repeatedly yesterday, the Republicans do not have a monopoly on racism.

[-] 0 points by stevebol (1269) from Milwaukee, WI 11 years ago

The war on drugs is racist. I think the democrats see the victims of the war on drugs as temporarily embarrassed voters. Neither side, the dems or republicans have any reason to change a thing. They're both racist.

I say don't hate the player- hate the game.

[-] 0 points by summerbummer (-33) 11 years ago

Yeah, there is a racist component to the enforcement end but it is hardly a republican construct. I have read that the black congressional caucus was the original driving force for the disparity in crack and powder sentencing guidelines in the 80's since crack was destroying the inner cities.

illegal drugs is VERY lucrative business for .gov. Hell, how do you think the CIA funds it's black ops? The war on drugs is responsible for a lot of things besides imprisoning dem voters. It has also helped justify the militarization of our police and nsa spying...yes, they leak their ill gotten coms to the SOD and have used info to "fight the cartels" (today....what will tomorrow's big crime be?)

[-] 0 points by stevebol (1269) from Milwaukee, WI 11 years ago

It was a clever move for dealers of hard drugs to start dealing weed even though it is bulky and less profitable that other things. They knew they would be more conspicuous if they stuck to hard drugs. Now that the public is becoming more aware of our twisted and racist drug laws there is talk of legalizing weed. I'm sure many dealers want to keep things the way they are and will resist change, just like the democrats and republicans.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

OWS is anti racism.

You?

Not so much.

Now how about a comment on the proof provided?

PS there's lots more where that came from, if ou can't find anything there

[-] 2 points by summerbummer (-33) 11 years ago

being anti racism is not equal to being anti Republicans. No matter how much you wish it were, or how much you buy into the DNC talking pts. Sigh, for the last time...

REPUBLICANS DO NOT HOLD A MONOPOLY IN RACISM

Nor do white people, for that matter

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

PRETTY DAMN CLOSE TO A MONOPOLY THOUGH.

They've institutionalized it and admitted it, as I've shown.

You on the other hand, haven't shown a thing.

Just bullshit rhetoric deserving of FLAKESnews.

Do you really need more links, or are another one of those that FEAR them?

[-] 2 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

Here we go again....

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Nope, just more of your perpetual denial.

How many times did you say you were baned so far?

[-] 2 points by summerbummer (-33) 11 years ago

Shoes, you ask how many times someone has been banned? Can't you count the notches in your keyboard?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Never.

You?

[-] 1 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

I"m waiting. Are you AFRAID to answer?!

Today marks one week that news item has been up!!!

Please explain your hypocrisy.

Thank You

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Are you puppet # 3 or #4?

I just want to know for clarity.

Returning after a ban counts.

[-] 0 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

More diversion from you

Whatever you need

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Stick to your soap opera.

Please.

[-] -3 points by garyjames (-14) 11 years ago

Finally you came to your senses. I told you about a year ago the Twinkle Team was here to take over the forum, but you didn't listen. You said I had no right of voice because I was a member of the banned. Now you are a member of the banned. How ironic that you keep coming back just like me. Perhaps you understand now that this forum has been co-opted by the Democrat party.

Personally, I think we should start another forum for the banned. We could start a free one while we wait to get a good one going. There are a bunch of free platforms to create forums. I have a few ideas for a good forum software that wouldn't have the moderator/user hierarchy, but it would take a few weeks (perhaps months) to program. In the mean time, we could setup a small forum so that we can at least discuss issues without being banned by the Twinkle Team.

[-] 0 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

By refusing to answer the question, and using diversional tactics not to

As to why you did not comment on the MLK thread

You have answered my question by default

We have all benefited from MLK's sacrifices, but no doubt your people more than mine

I just find your mean demeanor and hypocrisy on here out of place, and I strongly suspect that is doesn't end when you leave your keyboard

It's your life and your legacy, not mine

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

So, it was 5 or 6?

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Cool, I'm good with that.

Will you be commenting there then?

I could cough up one of the old racism threads for you if you like.

You know, separate your wheat from your chaffe.

[-] 0 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

No lie on my part

The proof that you infer that other posters are racist is here

And the proof that you haven't made one comment on the MLK thread in over a week is also here

I think mostly reasonable people would consider that hypocritical

If you don't want to answer, fair enough

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

LOL

Yer funny.

Shall I look to see how many comments you've made there?

I've posted plenty on racism and you're new here.

so WTF?

Now about those puppets?

And who, exactly are you?

[-] -1 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

Please answer the question we want answered

Why the hypocrisy?

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Who's we?

all of your puppets?

I don't answer to lies.

[-] -2 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

Admittedly, I was waiting to see how long it would take you to comment on the MLK thread

It put me over the edge though when you starting inferring people who did not agree with you were "racists"

Me? I already have commented, and i still hope to go to DC on the 24th or the 28th. I'll let you know if I make it there

Now...you?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I guess you missed all my comments in support of Trayvon.

One must wonder where you were for that.

I couldn't find a word from fearless.

I guess you were afraid.

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

After that, maybe he'll tell us how his involvement with the 'Michigan Peace and Liberty Coalition' and the 'Free Detroit' project is going. I mean, as much as he posts links about the problems in Detroit (ad nauseum) it would be safe to assume he got involved with this excellent group as soon as he heard about them and do his part in bringing his town back.

Wouldn't you think?

[-] 1 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

Replying here. Dang....you missed it by a day!

[-] 0 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

Well hey, how was I to know it would get picked up by Occupy.net the next day? I was seriously saving it for the perfect occasion. That's just about what I thought when I saw it show up here. Dang!

But it still works out good because I'm curious how he can justify not participating in it. If he hadn't posted about it, he could've just claimed he hadn't heard about it.

[-] 1 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

Yes shooz taking part in this group's wonderful work would seem like a good thing to do

But he is too busy with his shoozogic on here

Even if he just made a casserole of lasagna for them...anything...

[-] 3 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I'm sure they'd appreciate any help he could give them, even if it was just food. They'd be honored getting assistance from such a stalwart defender of the home front.

[-] 0 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

Walking...or even baking the talk... is not one of shooz's strong-points

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

Baking the talk, heheh.

It's funny because "walking the talk" was exactly the phrase that came to my mind when I first saw him post that article. Just by coincidence I had bookmarked that same article when I came across it on the 'Films for Action' website the night before and was going to save it for "just the right occasion." He beat me to it by posting it the very next day.

[-] -1 points by FearAgent (-59) 11 years ago

He's not big on that whole "doing" thing. Complaints are his dept

http://occupywallst.org/forum/launch-of-green-tea-coalition-drives-a-wedge-throu/

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

Oh yeah, I saw that. LeoYo posts an excellent article about something that's 100% the OWS ethos and does he find anything positive to say? Heaven forbid.

And then, true to form, tries to steer the conversation back to Detroit.

But then, we are talking about the guy who said that topics like Monsanto and drones aren't really issues, they're deflection and distraction.

[-] -1 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

How strange for a dude who infers that other people are racists

While he has not made one comment on the news item, Brother Martin and the 50th Anniversary of The March on Washington

It's called... forgetfulness and hypocrisy

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

You forgot delusional. No description of shoozie would be complete without "delusional."

[-] 1 points by FEARLESS (-72) 11 years ago

Yes i did forget that

So let's see AFRAID.....HYPOCRITICAL & "DELUSIONAL"

All adding up to shoozogic.....lolololol

Thanks

He said that to cover his ass after he caught a lot of flack for this:

Oscar winning actor Morgan Freeman has declared that the U.S. is still waiting for its first black president as Barack Obama does not qualify because he is of mixed-heritage.

Making the controversial comments on NPR, Freeman said that even though President Obama identifies himself as African-American, the fact remains that his mother was a white woman from the Great Plains.

“First thing that pops into my head regarding our president is that all of the people who are setting up this barrier…they just conveniently forget that Barack had a mama, and she was white – very white American, Kansas, middle of America.”

au contraire, ZD. Conservatives applauded those remarks by MF. It was the (so called) Libs that had their undies in a bundle over them. Those remarks were in the larger context that our Divider-in-Chief hadn't done much for blacks.

[-] -2 points by FearAgent (-59) 11 years ago

"These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. For if we don't move at all, then their allies will line up against us and there'll be no way of stopping them, we'll lose the filibuster and there'll be no way of putting a brake on all sorts of wild legislation. It'll be Reconstruction all over again." --Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson (D., Texas), 1957

Buena Vista Township Clerk Gloria Platko is resisting demands that she step down after another local official, Interim Township Manager Dexter Mitchell (a Democrat), taped a phone conversation in which Platko referred to Township Supervisor Dwayne Parker (also a Democrat) as “an arrogant n*er.”

The 63 year-old Democrat later apologized for the “slip of the tongue,” but shockingly insisted that her use of the slur doesn’t make her racist, because she has “eaten Thanksgiving dinner with black friends at their house.”

He would have been right during the great conflict of civil war in this nation." --Sen. Christopher Dodd (D., Conn.), 2004

Racism is everywhere. Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, church's, Temple's, city hall, schools and the local coffee shop. It is persuasive. To say it's a republican any more than any other part of society is incorrect. It's not black and white as so many seem to think.

Yes but only (R)epelican'ts still create admittedly blatantly racist legislation.

To them, it's an institution and a means to a rather ugly end.

And then there's that racist Texan Ron Paul

UGH!

A State that in many ways is thriving because of the wars.

You've completely skirted the aquifers being dried up and poisoned because of drought and now fracking.

No mention of all those jobs being very low wage.

How are unions in Texas?

Yea, Texas isn't perfect. The summers are too hot. But at least we haven't allowed the UAW to destroy the economy like in Detroit. Fortunately Texas is a right-to-work state. Texas has unions, lots of them. I was a member of one for most of my career. But when the union gets as corrupt as the UAW it needs to be stopped for the sake of the people. Detroit is an example of what happens to a city when some unions become greedy.

I have no idea who audra is and you obviously have me confused with someone else. Ha, ha that happens a lot around here. I doubt I am anybody that you suspect me of being.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Note to Republicans: Racist “humor,” the Internet, and political ambitions don’t mix. Audra Shay, vice chairman of the Young Republicans and the leading candidate to be elected its chairman on Saturday, is now the latest in a growing list of GOP officials learning this lesson the hard way, based on pictures of a now-deleted Facebook page obtained by The Daily Beast.

“This is still America… freedom of speech and thought is still allowed… for now any ways… and the last time i checked I was a good ole southern boy… and if yur ass is black don’t let the sun set on it in a southern town…”

On Wednesday, Shay—a 38-year-old Army veteran, mother, and event planner from Louisiana who has been endorsed by her governor, Bobby Jindal—was holding court on her Facebook page, initiating a political conversation by posting that “WalMart just signed a death warrant” by “endorsing Obama’s healthcare plan.” At 1:52, a friend named listed as Eric S. Piker, but whose personal page says his actual name is Eric Pike, wrote “It’s the government making us commies… can’t even smoke in my damn car… whats next they going to issue toilet paper once a month… tell us how to wipe our asses…”

Two minutes later, Piker posted again saying “Obama Bin Lauden [sic] is the new terrorist… Muslim is on there side [sic]… need to take this country back from all of these mad coons… and illegals.”

Eight minutes after that, at 2:02, Shay weighed in on Piker’s comments: “You tell em Eric! lol.”

There's no confusion.

[-] -1 points by summerbummer (-33) 11 years ago

Interesting.

We could swap left/right racist quotes all night, for as I said above, the Republicans do NOT have a monopoly on racism. But you know that.

Nah. You're a cockroach. Your inner right wing trash shines through.

If Thrassy still hangs out here am sure he would love to see your musings. If you have a current screen name for him, lemme know. I will pm this link. Pretty soon you will accuse me trying to build a bridge to nowhere :-)

If I had a son, he'd look like Brian Terry. Does that ring any bells with you? ↥twinkle ↧stinkle permalink

Ya. The Chris Wanker club. Nobody gives a fuck.

You're another Alex Jones fucknut.

I suppose I wouldn't be the first to tell you that you have a bad habit of jumping to conclusions, made worse by their innaccuracies. Chill out.

[-] -1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Today that is. Tomorrow you will be appearing as Bertha the truck driver, white sox fan that watches Mad Men and thinks Paul Rand is hot while running around the forum screaming end the fed.

Honey, there are three things that I often tell myself that I would like to do. I would love to become an alcoholic. However, I last drank six months ago a total of four beers. I would love to become a drug addict. However, Tylenol 4 makes me sick to my stomach.

But, more to the point, Why is your right wing racist ass here?

[-] -1 points by stevebol (1269) from Milwaukee, WI 11 years ago

I want to become a drug adict too. At least we have one think in common. I just bought some Nyquil.

[-] -2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Isn't it amazing? I would love to frolic through life as a complete and utter narcissist doing whatever I wanted to without regard to others. There are moments in time where I think...........that has to be the sweet life. And it would be, if I could actually manage to take the medication without spending my time on the cool, cool tile of the bathroom floor.

[-] -1 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

Or BYRD. All the elites are racists. Look at the shit that Manning leaked. These are sick ass people.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Oh my, my.

You need to be a whole lot less lost.....in time AND place.

Let's try this again.

http://www.rickscottwatch.blogspot.com/

Then there's all those other links you were mortally afraid to follow.

Florida, as you have failed to notice, numerous times, is one of the most racist States in the nation.

Some of their teabagge(R)/cons(R)vative/libe(R)tarian Nation wreckers have actually admitted it.

Links were posted here, but your FEAR prevented you from following and understanding what was said.

You just fail to notice.

[-] -3 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

SO I say all the elites are racists, and instead of agreeing like a sane human being, you go on the attack and bring up Rick Scott and your nicknames.

I see racism in every state I've been to. Its a sad commentary on your part that you ignore that.

Show me these states that arent filled with racists?

You wont because you cant. But you arent about creating unity for change, youre about getting paid.

You dont find it disturbing that a KKK ORGANIZER was in the Senate for that long? Hey!!

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I bring that up, for the simple reason that you have yet to deal with the conclusions the author deduces.

You just ignore them, along with GOPs present day racism.

Racism they have openly admitted and I've heard you openly defend, when they talked about it's relation to voter suppression..

[-] 0 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

Which conclusions are those?

I'd like to see you for once list something.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Hchc, I long remember those things you've already said under your many iterations.

So no. I won't spend another single minute searching every thread, to find all the things you now pretend to not have said.

I remember and that's enough..

Perhaps your insistence that ALEC is a non OWS issue will be enough?

http://occupywallstreet.net/story/arrests-street-closures-during-massive-alec-protest-chicago

[-] 0 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

ALEC is run by corporations that use Republicans to push their bills and fund the Dems to shut them up.

Its you who doesnt understand ALEC, no offense. You have a one sided view of them like you do everyone else.

Leave it to you to watch a villiage have bombs dropped on it, and then try to steer the conversation back to Michigan.

I've been pro union for as long as the day is long, which is why its so mind numbingly stuuuuuuupid to listen to people who vote for free traders claim to be pro union.

They just shoved 3 more down your throat and you are still begging for more.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Liar.

Let's hear you orate at length about the UAW.

Let's hear about your incredible depth of understanding about working in an auto plant.

Will you lie about this too?

http://occupywallstreet.net/story/capitol-was-ours

[-] 0 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

I didnt figure you'd address the main point.

" its so mind numbingly stuuuuuuupid to listen to people who vote for free traders claim to be pro union."

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Like answering for your theory of duopoly, you just can't do it.

C'mon.

Let's hear your oration in support of auto workers and the UAW.

Let's hear something positive from you, just his once.

I won't tell the soap opera of banned.

Really, I won't, so you can save face among them.

[-] -1 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

On the topic of Free Trade, heres your vote on GATT:

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/1994/roll507.xml

Still cant defend Free Traders Supporting Unions? Thats good. Its impossible.

Looks pretty fuckin even to me. I just did it.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Making assumptions about me misses the point.....entirely.

Let's hear your oration in support of the UAW.

SEIU. maybe?

NEA?

Anything at all???

[-] 0 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

Its not an assumption.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

It's pure 100% assumption.

What I'm NOT assuming is your refusal to address unions.

Now please answer the questions.

It shouldn't be this hard for you to be honest.

Honesty has it's rewards.

[-] -1 points by summerbummer (-33) 11 years ago

I really fail to see how voter id laws can be called voter suppression when they are really voter FRAUD suppression efforts??? Your DNC talking points say it suppresses minorities, when in fact, it makes it more difficult for non-citizens (illegal immigrants) to vote. You cannot make me believe there are elderly black folks who are never asked to provide id except on election day. I still get carded at the liquor store for crying out loud!

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Are you a jerk in real life too, or do you just play one on the internet?

And here you like to play a rabid huffpost fan.

From your most source.

A video too, so you don't have to do any of the liberal reading crap.

The bad news is that we are still paying this guy's salary

Do you think the intelligensia has integrity?

[-] 2 points by loosecannonondk (2) 11 years ago

Some people within the "intelligentsia" have integrity, but as we can reasonably assume, they are under immense pressure to either remain silent or support the corrupt status quo

Being able to maintain your position and being able to pay your bills, and advance your career has a lot to do with them either remaining silent or supporting the neoliberal agenda
