As an observer of the movement, I am curious: who would be satisfied with the following changes in the US (and internationally) insofar as if these demands were met, they would feel comfortable ending their involvement with the movement. I swear I am not a member of any media, just somebody trying to frame OWS for myself.

1) Limit the maximum earnings of any citizen (further earnings are either directly invested into public or private enterprise)

2) Standardize the advertising campaign for a civil servants, forbidding the use of any monetary investment (i.e., state-provided campaign funds, television slots and debates)

3) The establishment of an elected body with the sole function of maintaining government openness - official whistleblowers elected by the community.

This personally is what attracts me about the potential of this movement, but I understand there are some anarchist elements and potentially even collectivist, which I can't say I agree with. Anyways, let me know!

  1. Is unconstitutional and stupid

  2. Spot on.

  3. Possible but hard to see it working in real life. We all have to be the ones who watch government.

  1. I'm not actually American, so I'm not surprised to hear I'm way off. Still, it seems like the vainglorious salaries of CEOs are a major motivator, no?

  2. Agreed. Any electorate can become corrupt, and it's hard to believe that a level of separation would help much. But it's an idea I will continue to toy with.
