So next week I will to talking to one of the Google’s VPs. The reason I am talking to him is about the changing of the world. It is to talk about how Google is tackling the challenges of globalization. It is part of a class I am taking here at my University
But what I’m really looking forward to is being able to ask him question about his company and what is expected for the future. I think this is a great opportunity for me and for you to gather information on a company that is in every single one of our homes.
So I’m asking you to supply the questions and I will ask as many as I can if they're relevant on his presentation. I will have one on one time since I am going to lunch with him after.
I will post results after I ask him
I had lunch with him it went really well i was very please on what i got to talk to him about and what the future will have in store. I will update later when i have more time
Ask him/her about how involved Google will be in the spying of Americans in the name of security.
Also ask him how he feels about the gov keeping records of everything we do, including forums like this.
they will not be involved at all privacy and all information about its users will never be used against them. He told me that they do not police the internet and hold very strong ethical principles. When it comes to gmail they will fight to make sure that the government has the proper warrants and other issues before they can even touch it.
Google is actually a really cool and ethically sound company they have lines and will not cross those lines
ok if they can answer it i will, also i was going to ask him about sopa and other related laws.
I've noticed many youtube videos, that perhaps would evoke impassioned views, challenge popular beliefs or encourage healthy debate, have had their comment sections disabled. Do they not consider this an abridgement of free speech?
The comments are disabled by the owners of the video themselves not youtube
I would like to hear the justification for "authenticity" and it's attempts to not just shape but directly control those of us on the internet. Oh, I know and ask if there has ever been the slightest thought of how this stance could go horribly wrong. Oh, and throw in something about how much and who stands to profit.
ok i will sounds like a legit question
Bumped to make it easier to find.
thanks
the meeting went well it was well informative i really learned that Google loves it users and honestly wants the best protection for you if you use gmail or any other device. They do not police content unless it does not meet their terms agreement in which it is removed most likely by an algorithm and not a by a person.
Wow. Did you drink the kool aid?
So you are not an employee of Google? I suppose though you are grateful for the lunch huh? Do you think being granted an audience has shaded your opinion of the great & powerful Google?
Is there nothing negative that came out of the lunch.?
Who was at the lunch?
What did you all eat?
Nope no kool aid needed bud when you know you know, you're not at that level yet its ok. I never though of Google as a threat and honestly no one should they are simply collecting information to see where we as a whole group we are moving to.
Not an employee yet but there is some great projects i would like to get involve and need my type of engineering for them. hopefully in the future i can be part of a team.
if you really want to know about the food and stuff i would be happy to tell you.
Well I did ask. Let's hear. Who was there? What did you all eat?
And more importantly: did you learn nothing negative from the lunch? Sounds like you started out with a slanted positive view of google so I guess you didn't pursue negative issues. (wouldn't help you're desire to be hired huh?)
And what do you mean "I'm not at that level"? Are you better than me?
ok it was VP professor two girls students and me. The VP and the professor had the crab cake. The girls had beef and chicken then i had the pork chop.
Yes i did learn something negative thy don't allow cats in the office but they do allow dogs except one name George since he bit someone. In all seriousness we did talk about some issues but the one that sticks out to me as the most negative is how they go about business on certain things. In 2010 i think solid state drives were going to be out of commission so they bought all of them. They had total control of these drives they used most of them for themselves and then if a company asked they sold them. So that is shady but its business.
Now a nicer thing they did at no cost when the earthquake hit japan the internet was knocked out when it was knocked out Google lent out a fiberwire cable that runs from japan to San Fransisco to this company for free. It was an effort to help keep things running smoothly.
Google has a clear code of ethics and they do not skirt that line
Its not an isnult its an understanding level you don't understand Google like I do.
What is my understanding of Google? Mr high level of understanding?
i don't know that's why im sharing all my knowledge to you so you can get the understanding im not as he was but i will try to be
You just said I don't understand Google like you do. You said further that I have a low level of understanding.
Now you are saying you don't know my level of understanding of google.
You certainly ain't asked what my understanding is, and I haven't said. Which is why I am surprised you insulted me by casting aspersion on my level of understanding.
How do you explain this glaring contradiction? It sounds like a lack of understanding. Yes?
Mr "higher level of understanding"!
i assumed your lack of understanding from "Wow. Did you drink the kool aid?" that comment alone lets me see what you think of Google.
i inferred you lack of understand by tossing of an insult in my direction. If you understood Google and their intentions you would not throw such a comment of low standing. I need not to ask what your understanding is since if you had true understanding like i do we would not be talking about what we understand to each other.
So what is your understanding of Google
My kool aid comment was not about Google. It was about your 'in the tank' comments about Google. They were just too positive for me. No corp is that good.
So I guess you misunderstood my comment. Yes?
I love Google. I think they are probably amongst the best corps around. I like the "do no evil" slogan alone. I like what I hear from the people I've known who work there, and those that I don't know who work there. The wind farm work, the electr meter work, of course the search engine, & google docs, I love the stock!!! Yipee!!! And much more
However, I know that there are real issue regarding use of individual info, Advertiser info sales, video content control, corp media content cooperation, govt cooperation.
So maybe you understand Google better than me (I'm not suggesting that) but you didn't really delve into these major issues much on this thread so......
But that's ok you seem to admit you would like to work there so I understand how you wouldn't want ruffle the feathers of a potential employee. Especially one you like so much.
Look past the cooperate word and look at those in the compnay and im sure you will be surprised at what you see
all information they "sell"is purely anonymous advertisers sell them the adds and links and say to them help us find the target audience. So none of your information leaves Google for any circumstance.
They do not cooperate with the government since they believe like all of us the right to privacy and are against illegal searches. They showed this with them pulling out of china at a loss of 500+ billion dollars. They showed this again with the protesting of SOPA
i do not worship the ground they walk on but i do praise them and other than a few business models i view them a a great company. i wouldn't talk bad about them even if i didnt wamt to work for them. They have done nothing to deserve ridicule from me.
Well, we shall see. I love 'em. But I retain a healthy suspicion. Perhaps 'cause I'm a Ny'r & we don't trust no one.
Peace
LOL.
That is exactly what their little posts say and doesn't answer anything. Thanks.
Well what do you mean by authenticity because perhaps we are talking about two different subjects
Authenticity v anonymity
on their servers we are completely anonymous nothing we do or say can be traced back to us none of our searches are even traced back to us. Even if i went in and stole a server which has never been done the information is encrypted and scattered between locations. The information that is found on that server is incomplete and only a puzzle piece with out a puzzle

http://www.techradar.com/news/internet/4chan-tells-facebook-anonymity-is-authenticity-935459
I just wanted him to say some lame shit about how it was good for me. Didn't even bother with that.
also 4chan has ID's and membership things now
Honestly Google doesn't care who or what you are in case you are a dog they care that you are using their product. The idea isnt to be like a facebook the idea is for you to use their products to have an easier life and nothing more. So in a way i guess your both.
Are you insulted by the answer?
Not really.
not really to which one? and if to the first explain
Well, here is the deal.....when facebook and google has "I hate button" we can go there. I have been online since 1994. When I need someone to make my life easier, I will let them know. I don't need a filter.
well they're going to change it not matter what times have changed and so has the internet. So i guess they will never please you which is ok.
Ask why goog has youtube block important environmental statements.
"Google Wins YouTube.com Ownership
Posted by jonathan at 5:06pm EST on 11/06/2006
The Chicago Tribune writes on the antitrust approval for Google over YouTube.com. The antitrust authorities were investigating the recent sale of YouTube.com to make sure it was in compliance with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
The approval paves the way for Google to buy YouTube, leapfrogging it to the top spot in online video sharing. The acquisition also gives Google a way to tap the Web video advertising market, which will generate $1.1 billion in U.S. revenue in 2008, up from $385 million this year, according to market researcher EMarketer Inc.
Google has been a long way away from being the Internet leader when it comes to broadcasting videos online. This purchase will attempt to recover those loses and once again take ownership of that lead."
youtube blocked my video, "Bad Behavior=oil" from being used as a response video to gulf oil spill videos.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aek2xO4kFXQ
They also blocked me from making text coments with the video's url.
But stranger than that is this techno scramble on youtubes search feature.
I was upset that youtube blocked me from making responses that point at true solutions to environmental destruction. The year before I had been to an amazing full moon party in the mountains where the DJ incorporated a profound narrative which said.
"In these dark and difficult times, we are going to be faced with a choice between what is right, and what is easy."
Our dependancy on petroleum is such a choice. I edited the video and titled it "What is right or what is easy?" and mentioned the "Bad Behavior=oil" video and youtube blocking in the info of the video on my channel, "What is right or what is easy?".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aek2xO4kFXQ
Immediately afterwards searching for that title did not find it. The only way to find it on youtube or google was to search for "Bad Behavior=oil" and the "What is right or what is easy?" title would be a few matches below. I made a web page about this in 2010 and just a few weeks ago the search engine blocks on the title were taken off. I'm sure I still cannot post from my youtube channel though.
If goog owns youtube and youtube is doing that, uh I doubt goog will do anything about globalization.
to add Google is the for front of green technologies and recycles most of their hardware even though it cost them money. so to block a video which they wouldn't do is something that is very unlikely
I didnt get to ask this question but someone else did about certain videos being removed.
They do not remove any videos unless the breech the code of content which means if it is copyrighted by some company and you do not have permission to have it on youtube it will be removed. When removed it is not removed by a person but rather a program that hunts out copyright material.
I will see if he responds to questions about youtube and antitrust
i doubt he will answer your question about your video but i will try and reference it.
Ask if "googtube is against humanity developing ways to create sustainable behaviors". If they answer "no" ask "Why the blocking of videos trying to share the fact government is keeping people from changing, adapting." Make sure you get some good screen shots. Post them here.
ON EDIT: This 2nd post on the issue below is here because a REMOVED box sat where my post should be, so I re wrote it. But now I see it has returned
dont worry i only got one notification
yeah ill ask how they deal with government and restrictions of videos and other material
Screen shots? i think you mean pictures since im meeting this guy in person
googtube acted against people sharing what they need to know to become more sustainable. In fact it was the specific methods of helping people to change the behaviors that was targeted.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aek2xO4kFXQ
Metting in person, cool! In that case, print the images on this page that demonstrate the techno manipulation working to prevent the above video from being shared.

A hard evidence case that needs explaining.
ok i willl try to address the issue but this again is something that will be hard to ask with out turning them off completely
Ask at the end of the meeting-Warn them, that you have evidence and its a serious sociological problem with them at the center because of their taking censoring actions.
ok i will, I would not expect a completely response from him but i will try to get something out of it
[Removed]
ask him what google is doing in making porn more accessible. also I want my self-driving car
they don't like porn and the cars can legally drive in California and Nevada
so the cars could be available in the future
DB. Ask him how they are going to handle the increasing pressure on speech, censorship, or content control from: countries, regulatory agencies, advertisers, partner companies, investor groups, etc. there are presently many governments, religious groups, and other organizations that have brought pressure to either forbid content, shape content or control content that either offends them or they wish their users not to see. Second question: can there ever be a method that will verify that what we read, watch or hear is free from that type of influence, bias or other restriction? A truly free speech Internet.
i had my lunch today with him
ok for example the viral video that made most of the Islamic countries have a fit was taken down to ease tensions but not taken down completely this was argued with the VP and CFO. This was a major issue with the idea of what is and isnt free speech. they took it down only these countries not to apease them but to take away the oxygen from the fire.
Now in china they left completely since the Chinese government didn't want normal things that are legal to you and me. Since then they lost 500 billion dollars in profit from this so they take the freedoms we have is very serious issue to them.
pretty much if its legal in the United States it will be on the web somewhere for you to find.
They love freedom of speech and appreciate all of yours too
It is confirmed that i will be having lunch with him on Thursday
I am really curious on what you guys think on an opportunity like this
