Forum Post: Public Funded Elections

I think that this protest could unite more people if it focused on campaign finance reform. Campaigns should be funded by the public with equal amounts given to each candidate. TV commercials should be banned. Citizens United should be reversed. Both liberals and conservatives should be able to agree on this point.

Agreed, so perhaps you would consider our group's proposal of an alternative online direct democracy of government and business at http://getsatisfaction.com/americanselect/topics/on_strategically_weighted_policies_organizational_operating_structures_tactical_investment_procedures-448eo and then join our group's 20 members committed to that plan at http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems/

You are on the right track and Article V of the US constitution allows the people to take action. I am working with some people who have that ground game in place. Article V allows us as private citizens to have our share of constitutional control, but the top people in the NWO want you not to know that. We are using web conferencing and Skype to build this movement towards this course of action.

I would advise that you get a Skype account. Private message it to me and I can add you to our meeting group so we can work from the ground up using the states' rights to call for an Article V constitutional convention. It takes 34 states to approve convening to amend the constitution. We are going to run web conferences on this issue and the big money interests will try to block it and fail. http://www.articlevmeeting.info Fill out the form on the page and confirm that you want to receive invites so we are compliant with emailing laws and we will invite you to our Skype group and our web conferences.

I just looked this up. It make it seem highly unlikely? Can explain your plan of action more on this forum? I did just sign up for Skype, but would love to hear a little more from you.

http://www.articlevmeeting.info/ This will get you on the mailing list so you can get this fully explained in our web conferences, but you can private message me your Skype ID and I will explain it to you more clearly on voice because there are a lot of details to the ground game.

Thank you. I will do that. I really think that unless this issue is addressed, the people will never truly have a voice.

Agreed - campaign finance reform needs to be THE main goal of these protests. Without it the chance of the American people ever having a meaningful say in our nations politics is almost zero. I'm not sure exactly how it would be carried out (there issues surrounding it that would need to be addressed) but I can't imagine that a group of about 30 everyday Americans could not put their minds together to come up with a collective solution.

And? So your point is it's a useless fight? What do you suggest?

Previous campaign finance reform efforts did not have protestors in the street demanding it however.

Change the culture by voting who out exactly? Personally I think Republicans are more the party of corporate interests and religious fanatics. So while Democrats have become a corporate party as well, I find them the lesser of two evils.

I would love for a 3rd party that is truly a labor party to exist, but that may be long off. In the meantime, I do not want to throw out Democrats to replace them with Republicans who deny climate change, evolution, and woman's right to choose, ect.

This country is divided by liberal and conservative. But I would like to know that elections are fair and the people in office were truly elected by the people's majority wishes. If enough people jumped on the scale, maybe it might tip in their direction.

They might even balance out that boat load of cash sent to Iraq that disappeared. People power? Maybe?
