From The Other 98% :

I've got some super-exciting news.

We're teaming up with Senator Bernie Sanders TODAY to deliver millions of signatures to the White House and Congress with one message: hands off our Social Security.

And the best part? You can watch it live.

Join us, Bernie, and a broad coalition of progressive allied groups to make it clear that any member of Congress who votes to cut Social Security is voting to end their political career: the video will begin streaming at 12:45 eastern, and you can check for updates starting NOW.

Want to help us spread the word even more effectively? Click here to share the event on Twitter and on Facebook.

Thank you for all you do to make this movement real.

Sincerely,

John Sellers, The Other 98%

BTW - what I added when I signed the petition:

I'm asking you, as my Representative in Congress, to support the one-sentence Cancel The Sequester Act, and get back to fixing actual longstanding problems we face back at home.

Get the corpoRAT tax loopholes closed and collect taxes from them - the wealthy successful businesses that are underpaying or even not paying 0r worst actually getting public/government money while not paying taxes.

Go after the 32 trillion hidden in tax havens.

Instead of public austerity - we should be looking into public prosperity.

End the fossil fuel subsidies and redirect into green energy development and implementation.

Get the "People's" government working for the People ALL of the People.

In Compliment from Move to Amend:

Spring has sprung! It is a time when people start tending their gardens after a long cold winter.

Move to Amend (MTA) has been planning our garden for months, and with this Spring comes a renewed commitment to grow the flowers of our democracy in anticipation of the fruits of our labor — a vibrant democracy movement calling for the passage of an amendment which unequivocally states that corporations are not people, and money is not protected political free speech.

Help us grow our garden! Please make a tax-deductible contribution today.

In the year ahead, MTA has several special projects planned to expand our garden.

The Pledge to Amend campaign kicks off tomorrow (April 10) -- a grassroots lobbying effort to engage with state legislators and secure commitment to support the We the People Amendment.

Help us grow our garden -- donate to Move to Amend! We’re planting seeds of thought by calling for the May 10 Day of Action Against Corporate Personhood. Our volunteers will be displaying freeway banners across the nation to spread the word.

Help us grow our garden -- donate now to Move to Amend!

From July through December we’ll be harvesting input from our friends and neighbors in a nation-wide Community Listening Project on corporate personhood and democracy renewal.

This is a big undertaking and requires tools, materials and staff time, but it is an invaluable educational method for everyone involved, and the data we gather will inform our work moving forward.

Help us grow our garden -- please donate to Move to Amend!

Our garden already produces the grassroots regional convergences, barnstorming tours nationwide, a weekly internet radio show, maintaining and improving our website, webinars and toolkits, providing resources and guidance in grassroots organizing, gathering signatures on the Motion to Amend petition, and more.

We’re producing fruit in the form of new local Move to Amend groups every week, the passage of resolutions and ballot initiatives wherever we have them, and growing media recognition.

The year ahead looks promising, but gardens need fertilizer to grow, and your contribution is the fertilizer we need. Your contribution is the key to growing a strong, vibrant, and fruitful democracy movement. Please help us get our garden off to good start by contributing today.

The bounty of our success will mean a healthy democracy for future generations. Thank you for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Ashley Sanders, Ben Manski, Daniel Lee, David Cobb, Egberto Willies, George Friday, Jerome Scott, Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap, Laura Bonham, Nancy Price

Move to Amend National Leadership Team

PS -- Don't forget to mark your calendar for our weekly radio show, Move to Amend Reports, live every Thursday at 5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern (archives always available online).

This Thursday we'll be speaking with Katie Redford of EarthRights International. Tune in live or check out the archives here -- http://blogtalkradio.com/MoveToAmend.

MOVE TO AMEND

PO Box 610, Eureka CA 95502 | (707) 269-0984 | www.MoveToAmend.org

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.

Congratulations! Hands off indeed. As an old couple, my wife and I both collect Social Security. We’re always a little worried the politicians will start playing games with SS or medicare.

We’re always a little worried the politicians will start playing games with SS or medicare.

And the assholes will - if we don't stop em.

Excellent post. Action many can join in.

It was an great event (i watched & listened).

These things are frequently long shots but each effort can increase the numbers for the next.

Each should inspire more people for future efforts.

Well done.

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

The Live stream protest broadcast was very well done - now lets help keep it in circulation.

Public groups are forming and are beginning to act together - this is the beginning of the public finding and using their voice.

[-] -3 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

No doubt I saw signs from several different like minded groups.

Many people (most?) oppose deficit reduction on the backs of the sick, poor,& elderly.

It's offensive. Especially when the wealthy are sitting on uncounted trillions.

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Yep - if any austerity is needed - it is austerity to be imposed on the wealthy who are hiding trillions of dollars illegally and are off shoring jobs to foreign sweatshops and are polluting/destroying the world.

Healing this country starts at the top - where the abusers with power are.

[-] -2 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

And raising the taxes on the wealthy will not hurt the economy cause they will spend as they would otherwise.

But cutting even a little bit from working class people immediately hurts the economy, cause they spend everything they earn.

We should be increasing SS payments!! And investing in jobs creation (green & infrastructure)

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

TRUTH = "And raising the taxes on the wealthy will not hurt the economy cause they will spend as they would otherwise."

FUCK THE TRICKLE DOWN FICTION/PROPAGANDA/LIES.

TRUTH = "But cutting even a little bit from working class people immediately hurts the economy, cause they spend everything they earn."

The Health of the economy - DEPENDS on the financial health of The PEOPLE.

We should be increasing SS payments!! And investing in jobs creation (green & infrastructure)

VERY DOABLE

[-] -3 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

You are a good honest soldier for the 99%.

Thank you for all your efforts.

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Thank you.

BTW - from above "investing in jobs creation (green & infrastructure)"

An Absolute Necessity. Most especially Clean/Green development/implementation.

[-] -2 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

As you and I have said it is a no brainer. Meaning if you don't support this you got no brain.

Or somethin like that.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

LOL "Meaning if you don't support this you got no brain." - TRUE

Clean/Green/Power/transportation/industry. If there is to be a healthy future.

[-] -1 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

Current effort must be to agitate for investing in greentech, ending fossil fuel subsidies, ending fracking, ending mountaintop removal, ending keystone pipeline, etc etc & so on.

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

ABSOLUTELY

ASAP

ending offshore tax havens

ending sweat-shops - foreign and domestic

etc

etc

etc

[+] -4 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

The worse part of all of this is that while it will directly affect people in a negative way, its not going to do anything really in terms of revenue as a percentage of the overall debt.

Its almost like they are doing it strictly to piss people off. Strictly to get their standards so far into the dirt that the next offer seems decent.

What a sham.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

It is a total load of crap and an unwarranted attack on the Public/Society.

[-] -3 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

None of this is an accident either,... thats the most alarming part.

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Truth - we The People have been under a calculated and well funded attack for decades.
