What has the movement done to fight the republican attempt to keep the common man from voting? I would like to suggest that if we (the common man) do not do everything we can to ensure all Americans can vote and not just the wealth elite, the end is near.

I find this entire argument silly because there was an election 2 weeks ago and across the nation only 23% of registered voters showed up. That is less than 18% of the population.

Not that i am a republican because i certainly am not, but what have they done to prevent people from voting? Having to have ID? Don't you have to have ID to cash any check ? They are free to get. Don't they have early voting in every state that you can go and vote before election day? Means elections are actually 14-10 day periods and not one day. How is anyone being disaffected by that? Seems like these new laws are designed to cut down on the registration fraud.

mail in voting is a bother

lol. Right because voting should not require more than 2 minutes thought on election day. Actually having to spend a bit more time to ensure you have your vote counted is unfair and unAmerican. hahaha

So I haven’t been following the news from San Diego lately, but I read this on a right-wing blog. In San Diego, incumbent Mayor Dick Murphy was declared the winner when 5,547 ballots cast for write-in candidate Donna Frye were declared invalid by the courts. The ballots had Frye’s name written in, but did not have the associated bubble (indicating a write-in vote) filled in. Had those ballots been counted, Frye would have defeated Murphy by 3,439 votes.

I read that paragraph, and looked up, and it occurred to me that this was the right moment for me to stop reading. Because right now, I have no idea what political party Dick Murphy is from, or Donna Frye, or how their views differ.

So I can be somewhat sure that I’m not being partisan when I say: Donna Frye should have won the election. If someone writes a name in the write-in vote space, and otherwise hasn’t marked the relevant area of the ballot, then we can be sure beyond a reasonable doubt that they intended to vote for the person they wrote in. For the court to allow an election to be turned by people forgetting to fill in the bubble is a travesty; it’s putting technicalities above substance.

I disagree with you. Clearly the people were too ignorant of voting rules to do what was necessary to effectuate their vote. I would rather ignorant voters stayed home. Unfortunately that is about 75% of the voting public who votes the D or the R without thinking. Thats why we are in this mess. People aren't using their brains when it comes to voting and the state of our country proves it.

banks blame people for being stupid

People are stupid. Do you deny that? There is this author called Eckert Tolle. He writes about living in the Now and blah blah. You know what living in the Now gets people? Pain and suffering in the future. We vote and govern our country in the Now, and it is the worst policy we could ever take. That is stupid.

You oughta move to a a 3rd World Democracy, like Angola or Somalia. See if you like a President for life. Make sure you wanna make asinine statements like "I'm against term limits" and still wanna claim you are an educated American. YOU are a prime example of why this country is where it is - disinterest and apathy. Freedom is work! It's blood and education!
