This content is user submitted and not an official statement

  1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
  2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
  3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
  4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
  5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
  6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
  7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.

This is not entirely accurate. http://www.factcheck.org/2011/03/congressional-reform-act/

I'm not saying that Congress does not need reform but certain pieces of presented information are inaccurate.

Thanks. I was hoping that #OWS would consider adopting some or all of the above reforms as part of its list of demands, if and when the #OWS decides to publish them.

Agreed, our current republic form of government has already proven itself to be a manipulative failure in the pocket of the 1%. Consequently, perhaps you would consider our group's alternative online direct democracy government at http://getsatisfaction.com/americanselect/topics/on_strategically_weighted_policies_organizational_operating_structures_tactical_investment_procedures-448eo and then direct questions or comments to our group's 19 members committed to that plan at: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems/

Because congress has placed itself above the people it is supposed to represent, doesn't that place them in the 0.0000001%? There may not be enough zeros in that percentage because the population of the U.S. is north of 300 million and the number of members of congress is 535. Doesn't that make our elected representatives much more detrimental than the 1%?

Agreed, much more detrimental, so we look forward to your asking questions about our proposal at http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems/ and thus seeking clarification, for such question are the most important part of any coordinated action; that is, keeping ourselves informed of our perspectives because our collective knowledge is 10 times greater than our individual knowledge, agreed?

This is the only thing I have seen on this entire forum over the past week that makes ANY sense.
