Forum Post: Post Capitalist Society? What Would It Look Like?

Would it be a post-globalist society? Would it be a more holistic society? Would people work their whole lives slaving to survive or would their lives be something more? Would progress cease? Would rule of law exist? Who would be in control? Can their be a harmony between technology and nature between science and the mystical? What kind of principals and philosophies are needed to avert continued global and regional discord and disaster?

It will be like star trek or the Venus Project. Look that up and embrace the vision. Watch the videos on the site as well as YouTube. Anyone hesitant to move in that direction doesn't belong on Earth.

There will probably be radical differences between how the world economy works in a couple of hundred years compared to how it looks now, but these differences will most likely develop at a fairly slow, evolutionary pace. I'm not particularly sure what direction things will take, but I've kicked around a couple of ideas on here about possible evolution of capitalism into something that works better for the majority of Americans than our current system.

hundreds of years? what about now?

I don't see much enormous change happening between now and 2015, although my hope is that the New Deal coalition that has begun to be reborn around Obama will grow bigger and stronger, pushing us back toward a regulated economy and a strong public sector. Still, that's an evolutionary process that I can see taking a good twenty or thirty years to really get rolling.

there is no way that the system will be successfully propped up for 20-30 years. are you delusional? we are on the verge of environmental, economic, and social meltdown. try 20-30 months. the very fabric of society is disintegrating. time for you to switch off the lamestream media and tune in the channel called reality.

"We are on the verge of environmental, economic, and social meltdown. Try 20-30 months." Elaborate, please, and drop the buzzwords. What exactly do you see happening over the next 20-30 months that will cause the end of the world as we know it?

global financial collapse, world war, accelerated environmental decline. we are already seeing signs of all 3.

An understanding of human unconscious potential goes a long ways towards creating an example of "what it would look like". This graphic depicts the proportions and continuity of the conscious/unconscious existence.

Currently the implications are all but completely ignored by science, politics and psychology. Curious, because the parameters of all mental events of all humans are basically depicted there.

Here is another idea. I am sorry to say this, but there will most likely be another major military showdown within a decade or two. Any talk of a global society will need a leader. Will it be America or China? America is more worried about Corey Booker living on food stamps and the latest concern over the wording of the fiscal cliff. China has just landed an airplane an a carrier. Why would they need that? They don't have an international war on terror. Al Qaida and the Taliban are not chanting "down with China" Taiwan is within flying distance of the mainland. So why the mobile air power? America is not too big to fail and its future is not ensured

dude we have 11 carriers and 9 more aircraft capable craft. they have 1 and its not battle worthy relax once we stop spending all this money abroad on war we can rebuild our military.

I was throwing a pessimistic idea out there. The Chinese, from my observation, are more able to think about the long term than Americans. When I was in college, it was the foreign students who hit the books on the weekends when the white students hit the bars and clubs.

It will be a land where mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy

[-] 0 points by Coyote88 (-24) 11 years ago

What does that mean? Yes, I know it's from a novelty song from th 40's. But what does that mean to the OP?

I do not believe there will be a post-globalist society. Science will need to rule the day. Seek new worlds, new frontiers, and give ourselves more space. I do not believe global harmony is possible, ever.

Most sensible thing I've seen in a while.

[-] -1 points by Coyote88 (-24) 11 years ago

It would develope into a totalitarian society.

I envision it as a modern medieval recreation of replenished as savanna, war torn desert, spotted by opulent palaces. And since the human resource will have been exhausted, as a mere matter of amusement, they will conduct war with self healing humanoids, all very ethically conducted of course as the "rules of the game."

Of course with nano-tech ecology and environment will become meaningless because they will be able to create and recreate anything... from nothing.

A beautiful world.
