Forum Post: Pope Buys North Carolina!!

Posted 8 months ago on Aug. 8, 2013, 11:03 a.m. EST by shooz (26721)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

No, not that pope.

Just another innocent libe(R)tarian multi-billionaire with far too much money

"In the spring of 2010, the conservative political strategist Ed Gillespie flew from Washington, D.C., to Raleigh, North Carolina, to spend a day laying the groundwork for REDMAP, a new project aimed at engineering a Republican takeover of state legislatures. Gillespie hoped to help his party get control of statehouses where congressional redistricting was pending, thereby leveraging victories in cheap local races into a means of shifting the balance of power in Washington. It was an ingenious plan, and Gillespie is a skilled tactician—he once ran the Republican National Committee—but REDMAP seemed like a long shot in North Carolina. Barack Obama carried the state in 2008 and remained popular. The Republicans hadn’t controlled both houses of the North Carolina General Assembly for more than a century. (“Not since General Sherman,” a state politico joked to me.) That day in Raleigh, though, Gillespie had lunch with an ideal ally: James Arthur (Art) Pope, the chairman and C.E.O. of Variety Wholesalers, a discount-store conglomerate. The Raleigh News and Observer had called Pope, a conservative multimillionaire, the Knight of the Right. The REDMAP project offered Pope a new way to spend his money."

Over 1000 people have been arrested as a result of the 'Moral Monday' protests in North Carolina over the last few months - not that you'd know this from the B-S MSM in The U$A or anywhere. Thus see :

Btw this excellent doc. film will NOT be available for long I fear, so please avail yourself of it asap & pdq.

Thanks for that.

Surprisingly, there are few comments these days on women's rights.

In spite of these massive protests, of the "rights" attempts to return some of our States to the middle ages.

Since I'm being called obsessive, I will have to show one of the main, present day causes.

I so want to respond to that post regarding the twinkle team

The fuker knows full well the number of lies and misrepresentations it contains.

[-] 2 points by shooz (26721) 8 months ago

Perhaps if the perpetrators contributed something other than that?

But no.

It's all they have.

They are fact, information and issue free.

In the distract, dissuade and direct paradigm.

That would be an attempt at dissuasion.

[-] 1 points by ZenDog (20604) from South Burlington, VT 8 months ago

That is a really interesting article - ALEC 2013 Agenda Harkens Back to a Bygone Era

The Gaslight Girls

To Gaslight

I am quite certain that this is not some coincidence but rather a celebration of intent

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 8 months ago

ALEC's agenda in the States, unfortunately, has not slowed in the least.

[-] 0 points by ZenDog (20604) from South Burlington, VT 8 months ago

all we need is a properly placed ryder truck - or two

combined with a degree of mayhem that only the rich, right wing, and informed, would ever identify as being in any way . . . related . . .

Such an event would have them totally confused - they would necessarily perceive significant divisions within their own ranks upon seeing the application of their own processes and procedures against them.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 8 months ago

We have VERY good reasons for being obsessive about ALEC.

Literally thousands of them.

They are the leaders in libe(R)topian legislation. For 40 long fucked up years of decline.

I'm sure my accusers, didn't notice what Santorum said the other day.

If you refer to the middle class?

You're a commie.

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/santorum-term-middle-class-marxism-talk

And I got called a red baiter for referring to the GOP as reds, because that's the color of "their States".

My accusers.......NEVER notice, or post this kind of thing.

[-] 0 points by ZenDog (20604) from South Burlington, VT 8 months ago

I see - no classes means there can be no class warfare.

I'm much more interested in the possibility that the GasLight Girls may have been a honey pot established by some portion of the US intel apparatus for the purpose of . . . well, whatever they can imagine or circumstance contrive . . .

A complete recounting of the history of this establishment might very well go some way toward restoring some measure or degree of reason, of sanity, to our political process . . .

He isn't leaving Kentucky. I'm certain.

But he is welcome to try, and I kinda hope he does.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 8 months ago

And this negates the HUGE pile of crap the right wing has produced in what way?

This deals with what was in the link, in what way?

FEAR of following that link again?

http://www.usnews.com/debate-club/is-there-a-republican-war-on-women/the-republican-war-on-women-is-real

Ignoring reality, is a fatal flaw.

As is getting banned over and over and over, only to return and perform the same behavior, once again.

That's called insanity.

Ask your doctor about it.

If the (R)epelicant's will allow it in your State.

Well, and let's have a look at the push in New York: http://www.empirecenter.org/Special-Reports/2012/01/triboroughtrouble011112.cfm

More Libertopian shit from the right wing shills.

Let's see...........Goldwater Insitute, Empire Center and six or seven little Teathuglican sites running the same shit. Surprise, surprise, surprise. That would be why the bullshit runneth over.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Yeah. Here it goes again.

There was a shit load of that anti-public union crap around here in the early days.

What bothers me?

Is the group of trolls that were here a few days ago, disappeared and these new ones show up all of a sudden to bitch about unions again.

Pensions.

In particular.

This is such a blatant right wing ploy, I can't believe anyone still falls for it.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (21785) 5 months ago

There are recent articles in NY and it all leads to the same place.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

You can bet there's a pile of Koch money in there somewhere too.

And Peterson and Adelson and all the rest.

I know they spent a pile here in Michigan.

How's their petKoch pile doing in Chicago?

Last I saw it was still still blowing over the South Side.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Yuck.

Good old tar sands.

And they want to make even more of this shit??

And all they can think of to do with the leftovers is ship it to Mexico??

Or other places that will burn it, without cleaning up the air it will put out??

Plus I noticed, they like to store it close to water courses.

But......let's attack the public unions again.

Not!!

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (21785) 5 months ago

Oh, you know. It's the same shit. Some jack off stands on stage and says they are going after those bastards that are ripping off the tax payers. They issue a pay freeze and a hiring freeze. So, then due to real life people start getting over time. The same dickwads, failing to realize this when they instituted the hiring freeze then go back out on stage and have a knipshit about OT. You can dress this shit up but it still doesn't go anywhere. Do they ever nail the people at the top? Nope. Odd that.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Oh yes.

The questions I asked, that not one of them answered.

Who scheduled the overtime?

Who failed to hire enough personnel?

Who agreed to the contract?

Management.

Always the elephant in the room.

Whether it's a CEO, or "public servant"(sic).

Or both.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (21785) 5 months ago

That's exactly how it works. You might want to go look at the dumb ass shit these fuckers ran on and were elected to.

Well, this is where I want to see the same Minnie Mouse bullshit come alive.....don't they average out the highest years of pay for your social security?

No matter. I know what they want now. I know what our resident little multiple ID pr piece of shit is really after.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

When I start collecting SS, they will reduce my pension.

Isn't that special?

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (21785) 5 months ago

Is that right?

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Yep.

So much for that "Cadillac" pension, eh??

They treat it like healthcare corporations treat medicare.

They dump you off on the government.

It's like they're "double dipping".

Just don't double dip on them.

They bought laws to deal with that.

If we take away the politicians power, how would it be sold?

And why do people think that "another tribe" will come through and attack and steal it? Is this our view of humanity?

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Let's hear you talk about your community.

I reject yet another attempt by you to change the subject and somehow make this about me.

It's about you.

Why?

Because you've been banned numerous times, for numerous reasons, and yet you still bark the same bark.

You still write checks you can't cash.

[-] -3 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

Redistricting should be outlawed 100%. Take a grid, put it over the state, and theres your districts.

Again, this is centralized power gone insane. They shouldnt have the power to do this to begin with. They get a taste of it, they go nuts, and now we have them redistricting their districts strictly to maintain that power.

Theres too much power in the hands of these politicians. And while Democrats are guilty of doing this to an extent, it is being abused by Republicans at a record rate. They are desperate, disgusting humans who will do almost anything to maintain that power.

Dont put them - or anyone- in a position where they have that amount of power.

Ever.

Decentralize and remove their power and this will never be an issue again.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Once again spoken like someone who didn't read the link, or didn't understand what was said in it.

This filthy rich libe(R)tarian/(R)epelican't literally, bought a State.

He has a name. He has an address. He owns businesses. He's a good friend of the Koch's, he's in league with ALEC.

Decentralization will not cure this. It would likely only hide it, like it's often hidden in relatively decentralized States like Texas, or N. Dakota.

Regulation will.

Realization will.

I did notice you never did say his name.

[+] -4 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

These two?

"Gillespie had lunch with an ideal ally: James Arthur (Art) Pope, the chairman and C.E.O. of Variety Wholesalers, a discount-store conglomerate. "

A discount conglomerate owned by James Arthur. I dont want conglomerates of any type.

Again, take away their power to begin with and this isn't even possible. Thats my solution. Or make it illegal. But I would prefer to not have to chase politicians all over the country making rules that go against the rules they create on their own with the power we give em.

Texas and N Dakota are not even close to being decentralized. Its not even close. Besides, you have to decentralize the entire thing. Can't decentralize an area and have state and fed rules hovering above, it defeats the purpose.

Lets just take the power away. I dont like what they did. You dont either.

But how long and how much energy do we have to keep chasing these pencil neck geeks from state to state, constantly? Its insane. They literally have us running in circles.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

I believe we've already had the conversation on how anything that tiny and "decentralized" is even easier and cheaper for the plutos's to purchase.

It was probably under a different one of your numerous nameplates. But we did have it, and you are still 100% wrong.

Just because you changed your name, doesn't mean it's a new improved argument, that I have to explain all over again.

It isn't, and I don't.

If you were that concerned with such things in the first place, you would have known about Pope before I did, instead of waiting months to respond at all and you would be constantly posting about events in Florida.

You don't, and it belies your statements about "community", as that IS your community.

So Pfffffft!!

It's you running in circles with bullshit about duopoly, while ignoring what's right under your nose.

Another conversation we've had before.

What you're calling for........is tribalism.

Fuck that.

[+] -4 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

Tribalism? Is that what you call giving the power back to the people in their community?

Believe it or not, not all of us have the time to scour the internet looking for things to then post and complain everyone else is ignoring it.

By that shoozogic, you would not care about the issues I post about.

I dont think thats the case. I guess you do.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Ohhhhh. I see.

You don't know what you're talking about, so you get all your links over at prisonplanet??

I made some clear statements.

Do you really want to start the insult thing up again??

It never goes well for you.

Yeah.......What you describe amounts to tribalism.

Complete decentralization. Complete isolation, among "communities".

Like I said above.

If this was that important to you.

You would be telling us about events in your community of Florida.

But you don't. I do, and you get steaming mad about it.

Nor do you show the least amount of caring about the things I post on my "community" of Michigan.

Mostly you bitch about Obama.

When I posted the link to the local "community" of Hamtramck and it's issues with a tyrant selling it's community farm.

You gave me crickets.

http://www.eclectablog.com/2013/10/hamtramck-emergency-manager-sweeps-away-agreements-puts-wildly-successful-urban-farmcomm-garden-land-up-for-auction.html

BTW Hamtramck, is small city with Polish roots, that is wholly within the confines of the city of Detroit.

So what's all this about your concern for "community"?

[+] -4 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

In a decentralized society no one would have the right to take that farm from the people.

Don't like politicians taking your shit? Stop giving them the power.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

'Round and 'round and 'round you go.

The Koch's will just buy it on the cheap.

They don't want no stinkin' politicians either.

Now about the community that exists today.

The one you live in.

Florida.

.......crickets........

From you.

......crickets.......

From you,

on everything I said.

[-] -3 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

You want to discuss the farm?

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

That farm is as good as gone.

(R)epelican't tyrants, don't like that sort of thing.

discuss it??

You already missed that opportunity.

I want you to start talking about Florida.

Your community.

I'm tired of your crickets.

[+] -5 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

Buy it from who? Whose going to sell it to them?

There has to be political figures with power in order for this stuff to happen.

Are you saying the people themselves would sell it?

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

The tribe next door will attack you for it, if they want it.

I guess that's why you still feel the need to own guns.

You're already leaning towards tribalism.

There's nothing in your tribal beliefs that will prevent tomorrow's Koch's from still doing whatever they want.

Nothing.

There will always be a need for a certain level of, as you call it "centralism".

It leads to cohesiveness in law and culture.

and it's the only thing with enough power to rein in the likes of the Koch's.

It's been done before.

It needs to be done again.

The problem?

It needs to be done on a World Wide scale and that's something your decentralized tribalism is ill equipped to handle.

It will take a form of globalism.

A form of globalism, we haven't invented yet.

Tribalism, will not invent it.

[-] -3 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

The tribe next door will attack you for it? Is that a joke?

You must have a really sick view of the people of Detroit if you think thats how it would go down.

I'm glad I'm not like that.

[-] 2 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Nope.

That's the future you ascribe to.

So if you're a joke. Then I guess it is, but that wasn't my intention.

Was your response a joke?

It didn't deal with very much.

[-] -1 points by GirlFriday (21785) 5 months ago

It's not familiar with Hobbes or Locke.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

I'm not either, but what he keeps describing is tribalism.

Of this I am sure.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (21785) 5 months ago

That would be the outcome. He still can't grasp it or he's been paid not to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribalism

Is that what you think I am stating?

[+] -4 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

You think if you take away politicians power to sell the farm, that then means that a neighboring community in Detroit will charge in, attack it, and take it?

Do you understand what you are saying?

Why are you scared of the people having control of the community? Seems to me they were doing a good job with the farm until the politicians got involved.

Correct?

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

yes.

It's where you are going.......tribalism.

Whether defined by wikipedia, or anyone else.

now.

Where is your REAL concern for community?

You keep skipping over that.

Crickets for Florida!!!!!

Look!!

Over there.

Washington/Chicago DC.

nothing to see in Florida.

[-] 1 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

You're confusing stories and making things up....again, I might add.

Why are you afraid to talk about your community??

There's a lot going on in Florida.

[+] -4 points by HCHC4 (-28) 5 months ago

No one is confusing anything.

You bitch that no one wants to discuss the farm, now that they do you cant sit in one place and focus and do it.

You think that a neighboring community will come and attack and steal it? Is that how you view Detroit?

[-] 0 points by shooz (26721) 5 months ago

Still spinning 'round and 'round, and you think you can make your refusals about me???

I don't think so.

Finding MY thread on Pope, means but one thing.

It means YOU didn't do a single once of the research.

Now about your community?

What has your research turned up?
