I am putting this out there as a proposal. I would like to help organize a Poor People's Working Group, as well as a Poor People's March-- ideally to take place on Monday, January 16, 2012 (MLK Day)-- calling for recognition, dignity, justice, and of course, jobs. Jobs that build skills, jobs that include leadership positions, and jobs that help us reach our potential as human beings contributing to the creation of a better world.

I want people of color, indigenous people, undocumented people, and women to take a leadership role in the organization of this group and march.

Anyone interested please respond, or email me: edansmommy@yahoo.com, or friend/email me on facebook here:

Thank you!

The title drew me in. I believe it's a good idea, but we all must be cautious!

Thank you for your interest! Please contact me... I'm trying to create a working group so that we can all participate equally in the formation of a Poor People's March.... I hope this group can be online as well as in person, esp in NYC and DC.

So I take it poor white people shouldn't apply?

Perhaps you don't understand the fact that poverty affects women and people of color disproportionately.... which is why I am saying up front that these are the people who need to lead.

wtf does that mean? I'm white. Not sure I understand your defensiveness.

It means what I said. It implies those of us that are white males are somehow a problem. As far as being defensive I could say the same thing about your reply.
