This content is user submitted and not an official statement

I was about to go to bed when this came to my attention http://www.occupytheboardroom.org/#go

Here's the post I got this from: http://occupywallst.org/forum/1-have-addresses-99-have-messages/#comment-206295

I was then moved to stay up for close to 3 hours to write and distribute this. Since I stayed up till it fucking hurts, (3:24 AM now yeah I'm old nuff, it hurts) I ask you to read it, and if you agree, let me know so I can point out that enough agree, we need to stop this and rework the idea for the sake of safety and kindness. I am sending it to the contact at the site, and to any OWS contacts I can find that might be able to stop this which is trouble for us, for them, for good folks all around.

(Hard to post anything too long here, so I'm linking to it....sorry, bout that)

Thank you PandaMe73.

The greatest change can only happen through understanding that the choices made by what are being called the 1% are reactions to occurences in their lives like any one of us. Only love and understanding can make positive lasting changes in people's values.

Get anyone in a defensive mode and any attempt to discuss things reasonably becomes like digging a tunnel in quicksand with a spoon.

Bump again. Thank you for posting the harassment laws, too:

Note that in New York State Section 240.26 Harassment in the second degree, considered to be a violation, requires only that when, with intent to harass, annoy or alarm another person:

  1. He or she follows a person in or about a public place or places; or
  2. He or she engages in a course of conduct or repeatedly commits acts which alarm or seriously annoy such other person and which serve no legitimate purpose.

and the the more serious charge, a class A misdemeanor, Section 240.30 Aggravated harassment in the second degree, requires only that when, with intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm another person, he or she:

  1. Either (a) communicates with a person, anonymously or otherwise by telephone, or by telegraph, mail or any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm; or (b) causes a communication to be initiated by mechanical or electronic means or otherwise, with a person, anonymously or otherwise, by telephone, or by telegraph, mail or any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm; or
  2. Makes a telephone call, whether or not a conversation ensues, with no purpose of legitimate communication;

You guys don't seem to understand that all of this hippie dippy bullshit will not change anything. These bankers don't give a flying fuck about "positive energy" or peaceful protest. You can chant and protest all you want while they sit in their boardrooms laughing at you, or even worse, get the government to murder you like Royal Dutch Shell did to Ken Saro-wiwa. These people are ruthless, vicious sociopaths who don't care about anyone but themselves, that's how they got to where they are today.

See Ghandi,MLK , etc .... peaceful protest is the ONLY way to change anything .... it doesn't matter whether they give a fuck or laugh, that's the ultimate irony....in the end they won't be laughing because it'll take them down. But it won't work if it's not peaceful... there is no history or riots or harassment campaigns changing society, there is ample evidence of peaceful protest doing so.

Sorry, grow a spine, stay up.

Why are you trying to protect rich financial executives from public criticism? This website just lets you send them messages without knowing their contact info. It's not like we're doxing them... Sheesh

[-] 1 points by PandaMe73 (303) from Oakland, CA 13 years ago

see the BFF option, this has the potential for all kinds of trouble. First and foremost, I'm trying to save OWS from a bad decision, and yes what they suggest could lead to harassment charges, read the law. Second, bankers are people. Do YOU know these are all decision makers in the 1% ...do you you know the job duties of bank executives to know ...

I'm here to take down a system.... unless you can get us the rothchild's contact info or the rest of the .01%, I protest power structures. I DO NOT PROTEST PEOPLE!

[-] 2 points by pissedoffconstructionworker (602) 13 years ago

I sure as hell protest people. "Power structures" weren't sitting in the C Suites of Lehman, or the CDS unit of AIG.

unless you can get us the rothchild's contact info [...]

So what you're saying is that writing letters to bankers is too radical and could potentially turn violent/illegal BUT if they're jews (like the Rothschild family) it's fair game.

LOL, no I pointed out that if you want to go after the real string pullers, the oligarchs would be who to go after, and most of them wouldn't be on the list there. Used the Rothchild's name as a for instance, since that's one of the names most people recognize, there are others if you want to name some who aren't of Jewish descent, go ahead. I don't keep track of who is Jew or gentile, sorry, so whether or not that particular family of oligarchs is or not wasn't even on my radar.

I don't support individuals going after them btw (the entirety of the oligarchy, Rothchild or no), because first of all that would be dangerous and second because if their system topples none of us will need to. But getting their info and going after them is hardly just a matter of searching on Google, so I could use that as a for instance, because the entire concept is as likely to happen as someone hunting down and harassing the Pope (I can name him without innuendo of Anti-Semitism coming from you, or was that less concern and more a tactic eh??)

That better have been in the dirt bucko, ;p

we may disagree about protesting people, but if I had any money, I'd lay it on me being broker than you :) So I ain't the one to be protesting --- I understand your anger, but I have to be nice, I'm on a path here, gotta stay on it.
