Forum Post: Petition: The People Take Back Our Government

I started the above petition on change.org calling state governments to call for a Constitutional Convention that would amend the U.S. Constitution to put more power into the hands of the people, such as calling for votes of no confidence against the U.S. legislature and thus replacing them with new representatives, setting term limits on those in the legislature to eliminate "career" politicians, power for a people's veto on a federal level, among others. If enough states can be convinced to ask for such a convention, these amendments can be added without the support of congress, allowing us to place the power into the hands of the people. I hope that some of you may agree with these ideas, sign the petition, and share it with others. Thank you for your consideration.

A Constitutional convention gives the power to change the Constitution over to the Democrats and Republicans.

That scares the fuck out of me.

We the people have been given ultimate power over our government in the Declaration of Independence. We just don't use a collective voice to use that power. We have asked our government to "take care of us" instead of doing our duty to take care of our country. In doing so we have stripped our collective conscience of the knowledge to maintain our government. Running our government is our job and we simply handed it over to the politicians to take care of while we go shopping. It's time to get back to work. "to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
