I was wondering if anyone knew of options for parking somewhere outside of NYC. I was thinking I could potentially park my car somewhere and then ride my bicycle into the city. I wouldn't mind if it was even a fair distance, maybe up to 50 miles. Any thoughts?
Tartarus here. Not posting under my name because this site sucks. Seems like a lot of people are shit talking you, and not a lot of people are helping. My advice? Keep your car the hell out of NYC. Parking is ludicrously expensive, and so is getting towed / impounded. My advice to you? Park in New Jersey, along the NJ Transit line (Google it). My advice? Avoid Elizabeth, Linden, Rahway, New Brunswick, and Hoboken. The first three have crime problems, and the last two have draconian parking laws akin to NYC. Jersey City is a no go as well, with intense parking laws. Metuchen might be doable. Metropark has a big parking deck, but you have to pay for that, and there's no nearby parking.
Anyway, find a good place, and then take your bike on the train (this is legal as long as it isn't rush hour - http://www.njtransit.com/rg/rg_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=BikeProgramTo) and ride into Penn Station, then ride down to Wall St. Hope that helped, companera(o)
Park in Jersey.
Jersey Shore??
Bikers are welcome. Non bikers welcome. Playas are welcome. But playa haters are not welcome.
If u bike into the city, where will u park your bike?
I will just ride it aroound wall street. You make it sound like us bikers will not be welcome.
I hear there is plenty of parking in Toledo Ohio. Bike ride is like 342 miles, but parking is free.
So nobody gets ticketed in NYC? Hahaah. U will get a ticket if u spend 16 minutes in a 15 min zone. Next day u will get a second ticked and they will tow your car to some lot behind razor barbed wire. U will hVe to pay 250 plus ticket fines just to get your car back.
True however if you explain to the cops why you were illegaly parked, if you have a good reason you they usually (not always) will let you go for free.
Don't worry your car will be safe if you leave it unattended in the Bronx for a week. Hahaha
Aren't there regulations on those free parking spots though? I was hoping to find something where I could potentially leave my car for a few days without worrying about it, depending on how successful/ongoing the occupation is. Thanks for the advice...
Yes there are regulations however it is mostly a no-go zone for the cops so I really doubt you will get ticketed, should be fine.
Any spot in upper Manhattan should be fine. Like 125th street all the way up to the Bronx. Should be plenty of free street parking.
