I'm not sure it matters. I've come to see the entire occupy movement as designed to point out problems but do very little to actually engage in fixing them. The message has been heard some people care some don't.

[-] 0 points by muddFlapp (-108) 12 years ago

I think it was the violence that turned a lot of people away not to mention that a lot of "far left" members were also very arrogant. I see that in this forum also

That's why you're sitting at -88 dude. See if you can make it to -100 by midnight!

[-] -3 points by muddFlapp (-108) 12 years ago

I made -88 in one night haha. This is probably about my tenth new user ID now. If you do not agree with their idiocy, then you get slammed, but I am sure you know how that goes

[-] -2 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

Marxist assholes with all the Stalinist bullshit they advocate. They're pissing off conservatives and that is good.

[-] 2 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

What does this propaganda have to do with the great issues at hand? Absolutely nothing. Don't worry, OWS will raise some more cash. Today, the movement is all over the country protesting Citizen's United on it's one year anniversary. What are you doing to make the country better, muddFlapp?

[+] -4 points by muddFlapp (-108) 12 years ago

How can they be protesting on their "one year anniversary" when it did not start until Sept 17, 2011???

[-] 3 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Huh? It's the anniversary of Citizens United. You know, when the Supreme Court said money is speech and there should be no limits on funding for elections.

[-] -2 points by muddFlapp (-108) 12 years ago

Yes someone else already pointed that out. thanks

[+] -4 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

So you libs want to silence free speech? Big surprise.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Money does not equal speech. Corporations are not people. This country has lost its way. We are trying to get it back on track for the people, not the plutocrats.

[+] -4 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 12 years ago

not at all - we just will not accept the silly notion that corporations have tongues . . .

I find it odd that any individual homosapien could come to such conclusion.

[-] -2 points by muddFlapp (-108) 12 years ago

Oh I guess I missed that part and I thought he was referring to OWS

[-] 1 points by GypsyKing (8708) 12 years ago

Money was never the object in the first place. We started without it and will continue without it.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

OWS didn't have a cent on the day it started and it is more capable than any other movement of "living off the land." What it needs is more people, more occupations, more GAs. It will get what money it needs. As Big Bill Haywood said, "the treasury of the revolution is in the pockets of the working class."

[-] -2 points by muddFlapp (-108) 12 years ago

I always heard that OWS was more less like a fad then a movement??

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

"Always" is not exactly an appropriate adverb to apply to a phenomenon which is only weeks old. If it disappears in a year or less, then it might appropriately be characterized as a fad, though I think that unlikely as the issues it is addressing are more systemic than cyclical and unlikely themselves to disappear any time soon, at least not without the intervention of a movement something like OWS, though considerably larger,

[-] 0 points by DiMasciosBridge (170) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

[-] -1 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

He's only half black. Black people early on in the 2008 campaign said he wasn't black enough. Remember that?

[-] 1 points by DiMasciosBridge (170) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

Good point! Me too and I occupy and I can tell you that what you're seeing right now is just the infancy stage of what's really beginning to take shape. The American-Spring has just begun! Watch what the movement turns into this spring. Democracy is great!

[-] 1 points by WooHoo (15) 12 years ago

"This is the police. Get out of the park."

"Okay."

That's the whole 'movement' in a nutshell.

And as they left they shook their heads incredulously, trying to fathom why the mighty sacrifice and noble gesture that is camping didn't create societal change.

I think it's important this web site stay up. It gives people an unfettered view of the hard left; the hatred, the lies, the incredible double standards. People come for information and get apparatchiks spreading the Marxist gospel sprinkled heavily with conspiracy nuts who see one behind every blade of grass. College students whining about the fact that they took out loans and don't want to to pay them back. This is full spectrum liberalism on display!

I love this place! :)

[-] 2 points by Builder (4202) 12 years ago

So you haven't really taken the time to look around at all?

I've been reading the threads here for months. Not the BS shills or the Bot threads. The real issues that are important to every living person in America today.

Full-spectrum anti-americanism is what you are seeing when congress gets their collective butts together in one room.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

the conspirators should be working with the weapons industry to get the US citizens to allow war with Iran

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

They also see the callousness and nastiness of the fear mongering, right wing reactionaries who refuse to admit that our economy is not working for the majority of people and that our government has been turned into a plutocracy.

[-] -1 points by wigger (-48) 12 years ago

Perfect! It isn't hard to see who is nasty and callous, who are fear mongers and who are reactionaries. Our economy does work for a majority of our citizens and will work for even more when the Democrats are banished to the wilderness in November. :)

[-] 4 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Do you read? Do you watch the news? You are poorly informed. 1 in 7 on food stamps. One-half of all Americans earning less than $26,000 per year. 22% of American children living in poverty. Declining wages. 49 million with no health insurance. Millions of foreclosures. High unemployment. Right. You must be right. It's working great.

Go ahead, try to blame Obama. That's ridiculous. When he took office the nation was already bleeding millions of jobs a month. The recession was in full swing.

[-] 1 points by wigger (-48) 12 years ago

Of course I can blame it on Obama. The only people he's helped are unions, private and public. He stole Chrysler form the bondholders and gave it to the unions. He stopped GM from reorganizing under Chapter 11 which would have allowed renegotiating union contracts and made the unions equity holders in the new company.

If you could remove your ideological blinders for a moment you would notice the trillion dollar porkulous benefited public sector unions and his green energy scams. Obama has spent more than every president in history and he wants yet another trillion. Apparently, you lefties simply can't get your heads around just how much more a trillion is than a simple billion.

Where does this monstrous pile of cash go?

Obama has done nothing to help the private sector, how do you think American business feels when you have the dipshits at the NLRB costing Boeing a billion dollars by trying to keep them from moving to a right to work state and costing the economy thousands of jobs in the process? He has singlehandledly destroyed the oil economy of the gulf coast, hundreds of rigs have permanently relocated to other, friendlier parts of the world because Obama is a job killing machine. The EPA has issued over 4000 regulations since Obama became destroyer in chief, not one of those regulations helps our economy.

These are some hard facts, not meaningless statistics pulled out of some bureaucrats ass.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

We do have fundamental differences in our worldviews, that is for sure. One could argue that Bush spent more with his tax cuts and the wars he waged and that Obama simply inherited a huge mess with the greatest recession since the Depression in full swing when he took office.

I don't know. I kind of think BP destroyed the oil economy of the gulf coast. And, I bet many of those regulations are fall out from the BP disaster. So who's to blame, greedy big business, doing things on the cheap and causing great harm to our environment or Obama for trying to make sure we still have an environment down the road?

[-] -1 points by wigger (-48) 12 years ago

That's what I'm trying to get across, the enormity of Obama's spending. Obama's deficit for Feb.'11 was more than the deficit for the entire entire year of 2007, war spending included. I'll repeat, Obama has spent more than ALL other presidents and isn't through yet.

BP manned up and did what they said they would do, Obama halted drilling and never rescinded the order even though he was required to by statute. The loss of the rigs from the gulf has set our economy back 20 years. Thousands upon thousands of jobs gone.

If your goal is the destruction of the American economy, then Obama is your man.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Yes, he's spent a lot, but many say that if you reversed the Bush tax cuts and never had the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we'd be in pretty good shape. Hindsight is 20 20. I didn't like the bailouts either, but where would we be without the stimulus? I don't know. We've not faced this kind of economic crisis since the Depression.

[-] 0 points by YouDontRepresentThe99Percent (-10) 12 years ago

Commie ows propaganda. Most people are doing just fine. I am, my neighbors are, my friends in other states are. Don't get me wrong, im not rich.

Stop blowing up numbers and using it as propaganda to gain support for your shitty movement.

[-] 2 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Don't like the facts, do you? Neither do we. That's why we're looking for change.

[-] -1 points by YouDontRepresentThe99Percent (-10) 12 years ago

They are not facts, they're YOUR problems.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

They're facts about the country you live in. It is hard to swallow but the country you live in is one where 1 in 7 people are on food stamps and 22% of children live in poverty. Don't face the facts and things will get worse.

[-] -1 points by YouDontRepresentThe99Percent (-10) 12 years ago

Im doing fine. Under 10% are unemployed. You all cry where are the jobs, and the TRUTH is there are plenty. Ask the 90% employeed.

You made bad financial decisions, and expect the wealthy to cover your debt and mistakes and pay for you to live.

ows is a bunch of handout loving hippie bootlicking cowards. Your being brainwashed by this shit.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Ask the 90% employed where the jobs are!? Are you kidding? You arrogant reactionary right wing conservative. How dare you tell the unemployed to ask the 90% that are employed where the jobs are.

And, go ahead, hurl your freaking insults at me. None of them apply to me. I don't need anything. I simply have compassion, a trait of human beings.

[-] 0 points by YouDontRepresentThe99Percent (-10) 12 years ago

Look who is mad at the facts! Hey I'll tell you where the jobs are! If you don't like my answer you can ask the rest of the 90 PERCENT WHO HAVE JOBS. They will gladly tell you where the jobs are haha.

It's not right wing or left wing, it's a FACT. So go be butthurt about it somewhere else.

God your answer was priceless, im going to have to make that a thread. What do you think I should title it? I was thinking;

"Butthurt Protester beautifulworld Mad The 90% Employed Finally Told Him Where The Thousands Of Jobs He Claims Don't Exist Are"

haha.

[-] 0 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

I feel sorry for you, and don't worry, I won't put you on the spot for an answer because I know you don't have one.

[-] 0 points by YouDontRepresentThe99Percent (-10) 12 years ago

I feel sorry for you, I put you on the spot and you choked harder than anyone else on this forum! Resorting to the cowardly 'right wing' insults like a child, ha! I pitty you, I really do.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

I did not overreact, because I knew you know about the unemployment rate.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Why would I have to counter argue where there is no argument. There are not enough jobs for 9% of the people who want to work (and that does not include people who have dropped out of the labor market). That is what the unemployment rate represents. So, seriously, what's to counter argue. I don't get you at all. Are you aries?

[-] 1 points by YouDontRepresentThe99Percent (-10) 12 years ago

Then why did you get all butthurt about it? You could have simply stated that from the begining.

You know remember this? http://occupywallst.org/forum/owsguess-whos-going-broke-now/#comment-603566

Your digging yourself deeper and deeper in, just say you over reacted and appoligize ;)

[-] 0 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

You didn't put me on any spot. What are you talking about? I put you on the spot. You have no answer.

[-] 1 points by YouDontRepresentThe99Percent (-10) 12 years ago

You can't turn the tables on me, im not stupid. I called out your bullshit and you got butthurt like a little kid who got pushed in the sandbox. You had no response other than some childish "right wing" insult. You never counter argued anything.

[-] 0 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

It never hurts until it's you...there is no recession proof job or business.

[-] -1 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

Do you read? What the NYT? Do you watch news? What, msnbc? Obama needed stimulus passed immediately to keep unemployment under 8%! he needed healthcare reform passed immediately to save our healthcare system. That shithead destroyed it. Wait and watch. The big eared fuck didn't have the guts to implement the majority of change until after 2012 elections. The congress didn't even read the fucked up bill. Bitch face Pelosi said, " ehhh we have to pass the bill to find out what is in it". Stupid liberal ass bitch.

[-] 2 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Not one economist knew how to handle the recession. I'm not saying I agree with everything Obama has done, but no one knew what to do. Hindsight is 20 20. I don't particularly like his health plan myself. In my mind, we need basic universal healthcare for everyone that covers only catastrophic care. We need insurance, not a reimbursement plan.

However, the republicans have been absolutely intransigent. They have been doing everything they can to satisfy Grover Norquist and to keep the unemplyment rate high in hopes of ousting Obama. What's up with that?

[-] -1 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

Now let's not slip into conspiracy theories. I know it is difficult, but just try to maintain. To your first point, not one bailout, not one for any corporation should have been doled out at taxpayer expense. This is what has dragged our economy down, along with this incessant adventuring in foreign wars, perpetrated by Bush and continuing with the big eared Boss.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

I'll agree with you. How's that? I was against the bailouts and still think they were a bad idea. I don't, however, think they were all Obama's idea. Weren't they already in motion when he took office?

And, could you stop calling him "the big eared Boss." I mean, geez, it is hard to take you guys seriously with that kind of talk.

[-] -1 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

Forgive me beautifulworld, but I'm in a bad mood. I will try to refrain from calling president Obama names. I appreciate that we can agree on some issues. Yes Bush 43 came up with the TARP idea, fully supported by bi... I mean senator Obama. Very bad ideas, I believe. Now we are sitting over three years into Obamas term, with 6 more trillion in unpaid bills. When does this shit get the brakes put on it?

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

You're forgiven. I don't know what to do about the debt (tax the rich, end corporate loopholes, end the wars?, lol !), but, I do know that a lot of Americans are hurting right now, while the few at the top are benefiting in an extreme way because of how the economy is set up.

[-] -1 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

This government has pushed us so close to the brink with this reckless approach to spending, military conflicts and what have you, taxing the "rich" is only a spit in the ocean. Austerity has to happen. Minnesota shut the government down because an 8% increase in spending wasn't enough for governor Dayton. It's really sad.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

I disagree. Yes we need to spend carefully, but austerity hurts people. We need to at least try to grow ourselves out of it.

[-] -1 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

16 trillion? Not possible.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 12 years ago

Doom and gloom?

[-] 0 points by Kirby (104) 12 years ago

This beautifulworld is looking very gloomy. We are on the brink. Have you ever read any of Richard Rhodes books? He won the Pulitzer in 1986 for, "The Making Of The Atomic Bomb". He followed it up with, "Dark Sun: The Making Of The Hydrogen Bomb" in 1996. He has since followed these with two more, in the series, which I have not read yet. The final book of the four part series was published in 2010 and it is supposed to be the best. He is an absolute master researcher, and when the soviet union dissolved he got into the kremlins declassified archives. I know this is off topic, but his writing is really mind blowing.

[-] 2 points by 4TheHumanSocietyProject (504) 12 years ago

The system is flawed and the economy will probably fall. I suggest you stop pointing the fingers at OWS mistakes and ask them why they are doing this. You guys keep talking about right and left when all that matters is humanity. Capitalism and the monetary system will not work anymore. Obama will more the likely be re elected because Mitt Romney is a product of what we do not want. He wont even show his tax returns to the American people. People have this chip on there shoulder like no one matters but them and what they worked for... What have you really gained? Some paper with faces on it? some nice car that destroys our environment? A whole bunch of electronics that make our power company's pump out large amounts of carbon emissions? ALL for what? At what point will everyone start to care that they are destroying everyone and everything around them. At what point will we stop saying fuck everyone else, I am going to become rich? A mans self worth is not measured in what he can obtain but in what he can give. Why do you hate so much?

So what you think that the public discontent has nothing to do with Obama. Also just because he is racist does not mean all libertarians are. Did you know lot's of people voted for Obama because he is black but that does not mean all dumbocrats are racist though.
